Story
Cooper is a fun, silly, and very loving dog. Super intelligent and crafty! He loves wide open spaces to run and explore. Super curious about anything from food to random trash. He loves tug of war and fetch. He can get very nervous around strangers/other dogs. He been in obedience training so he knows sit and come from command. Highly recommend places with back yards or wide fields to run in. He is very energetic and has pretty good force when he is excited. Recommended for experience owners. He typically doesn't like baths so recommend bathing in tub as I was working with that currently. He only nips to get your attention for more pets and can be pretty destructive with toys, so have a bunch available. He has some reactions against bicycle and trucks, so he may bark at those passing by. We have work with lunging so he done less of that.

Story
Name: Pugsley Sex: Female Estimated Age: About 2 years old Best Guess for Breed: Cattle Dog Mix Weight: 65 lbs Good With: Dogs and people. We aren’t sure how she does around kids or cats. Story: Pugsley originally came to us from a shelter in West Virginia two years ago as a baby puppy. She has recently been returned to us due to no fault of her own and is looking for a new loving home. Pugsley loves all people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. She knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with her humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Pugsley is just looking for someone to be her new best furend and we know that she will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. As a young dog, Pugsley will need an adopter who is committed to setting her up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising her both mentally and physically. She will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! If you think that Pugsley might be your perfect match, apply today!       December 8, 2023, 12:40 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Matilda came to the shelter as a stray, emaciated and hairless, with pustule covered, red and raw skin. She was nervous to receive the medical care she needed from the veterinary staff, but they patiently managed her through it all. As the days, weeks and months went by, we watched as she healed- physically and mentally.Today, she is a whole new dog. Where she used to be on high alert, waiting for the next scary thing to happen, now she barks from her kennel to ask for a walk. She revels on a purposeful walk where she can smell the intricate seasonal changes in the earth and feel the gentle, cool mist of autumn upon her face. And who knew she was a ball dog, who can chase the ball for days, always bring it back, and never hand it over? She loves treats and sits for them without your request. While Matilda was likely a valued member of a loving family at some point in her life, no one ever came. No one ever claimed Matilda, so now she needs to find her next and forever human companion.Matilda is smart, I’m talking gifted smart (we`re serious, she can learn anything and probably teach you a thing or two as well). It seems she has missed human touch, with her skin being in such sensitive condition, she did not benefit from snuggling for some time, so now that she is healed, she’s is making up for it every chance she gets by curling herself around and leaning in for petting.Matilda will be a wonderful, loving, devoted compaion. Ask to meet her today and change your life for the better.

Story
Say goodbye to boredom and adopt Wan Wan! Wan Wan is a wild child. And yes, he likes to stir things up. When entering a room, Wan Wan makes you think there are three of him. Young, with lots of energy and curious about what the world has to offer. He has very strong opinions. Walks, great! Balls – awesome! People – love them! Water – an absolute NO. Wan Wan is a lover. He loves to give kisses and doesn’t care if you asked for them, you’ll get them anyway. He is always up for shenanigans, but at the same time, he fills the room with life, joy, and the right amount of trouble.

Story
Age: 2 years Size: 58 pounds Estimated breed: Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix Spotty needs a home with: resident dog(s), fenced in yard, no young children   Update 7/7:  Spotty is super dog social guy who needs to be with other dogs. He absolutely adores every dog he meets. Spotty is still a little reserved around people but has been making huge strides and seems to improve every day! He has gone through professional training to work on self- confidence and is able to go on walks now and trust more than he used to. Spotty is super submissive and needs a home with a very social dog that will hang out and play with him all day. He loves to play with dogs more than anything. Spotty is also house trained and crate trained. He requires a fenced yard as he can get spooked and we don’t want to take chances of him trying to flee. Spotty has endless potential if you give him the time and patience he needs and deserves to come out of his shell! -------- Spotty is estimated to be about 1.5 years old and 45 pounds. He was found as a stray in SC and was completely petrified at the shelter. He sat in a corner shaking and had to be carried just to move out of his kennel. He came to us very nervous and shy but with the help of his canine friends, he is slowly learning to trust and thriving in his foster home. He has also met and done training with our trainer where he is now comfortable going for walks on a leash and exploring the outdoors!   Spotty gains comfort from other dogs, so he requires a home with a friendly resident dog to help show him the ropes. Spotty would do best in a home without young children as he is still gets timid around new people and retreats. With time and patience, he will show his new family how goofy and happy he really is. All he needs is someone who is understands that just needs a little time to know he is safe. His best quality..... he is AMAZING with other dogs and wants to be their best friend. If you have a dog that has been wanting a sibling, Spotty is your guy!   To adopt Spotty, please apply on our website! www.keytolionsheart.org/adopt   Please note we cannot guarantee the breed or adult size of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training. December 7, 2023, 6:05 pm

Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.young girl looking for her forever family! TRINITY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Trinity       Best Guess for Breed:   Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix   Best Guess for Age:   1 year as of Sept. 2023         SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight:   32 lbs   Gets Along With:    Other dogs! We haven’t seen Trinity with cats or kids, but she can be tested!   Check out video of Trinity here! https://youtu.be/4f65xnUJE2s   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   All About Trinity:    Meet Trinity, the one-year-old Blue Heeler mix who's ready to become your faithful companion and partner in adventures! With her stunning coat featuring a mix of blue, white, and black, Trinity is not just a sight to behold but also a bundle of intelligence and affection. Trinity is a dynamic and spirited young dog who thrives on both physical activity and mental stimulation. Whether it's a brisk jog, a game of fetch, or a puzzle toy to challenge her intellect, she's always up for the task. Her sharp mind and eagerness to please make her a quick learner, so training and teaching her new tricks will be a joy! But Trinity's true charm lies in her loving nature. She's a sweet and affectionate companion, always ready to shower you with tail wags and cuddles. Whether you're seeking an energetic partner for outdoor adventures or a loving friend to curl up with at the end of the day, Trinity is the perfect mix of enthusiasm and devotion. If you're ready to provide her with a forever home filled with love and activity, come meet Trinity and make her a part of your family today.  What My Foster Says About Me:   Trinity is a very joyful and fun-loving dog. She walks well on the leash and is non-reactive. Trinity is crate trained and housetrained, always waiting to go once she’s let out in the yard. She obeys the down and sit command for treats and will sit and wait for her food with command. Trinity is very loving and affectionate with big folks and little folks she knows, and gives them lots of doggie hugs and kisses. She enjoys playing with her toys in the house, prancing and tossing them in the air, jumping up, and pouncing on them. Outside, Trinity is always up for walks in the neighborhood, chasing balls and sticks in the yard, running through the fallen leaves, sniffing and exploring. Trinity is very social and loves playing with other dogs. So far, she hasn’t met a dog she doesn’t like and doesn’t want to play with. She would do well in a home with another dog, or with a neighborhood dog friend or visits to the dog park for some doggie playtime. Trinity is also a fast learner. She was initially afraid to go up and down the stairs in the house but is now bounding up and down on her own and without any trepidation. Trinity is still somewhat cautious around new people when out on walks, as well as with lots of street traffic and large vehicles. City living appears to be new to Trinity, however she’s very adaptable and adoring, ready for new adventures with her forever adoption family! Please contact Melissa A Aten (melissaa@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet mama ready for her own family! ESME NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!  Come meet Esme and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Dec. 10) from 12-3 pm at the PETSMART in ROCKVILLE (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895)!   Name:  Esme        Best Guess for Breed: Heeler mix  Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of March 2023     SEX: Female   Approximate Weight:   41 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen Esme with kids or cats but she can be tested.    Currently Living at:   DC area foster home!   Special adoption considerations: Esme is heartworm positive. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Esme is scheduled to have treatment as soon as possible so the recovery process can begin.  We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.    Esme is Looking For:  Her forever home! This pretty girl arrived into the shelter with her four-day-old puppies. She did a great job of raising them to be awesome family pets, and they went off to find their forever homes. Esme is still a young dog and eager to get her own humans for romps in the park and all the adventures they can dream up. More than that, though, she wants to know she's safe and loved and under her own roof for all her days - and promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship in return. What do you say? Is Esme the one you see by your side?   What My Foster Says About Me:  Esme loves all people and dogs. She is a huge dog park fan and loves long walks with lots of sniffing. She enjoys frozen treats especially in this hot weather! She’s incredibly smart so we’re working on basic obedience training and leash manners and she’s learning fast. She’s young and full of energy and would make a great pet for someone active who loves the outdoors. She’s very loving and eager to please too!   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.

Story
Meet Obelix of the O puppies. Obelix is a 10 week old Aussie mix who is as sweet as he is fluffy! He came to us from Texas and he is ready to find his home. Obelix loves to play with his sisters, but really loves attention from his people. He is an active puppy who is learning all the good things in his foster house, like settling in a crate and learning about house training! The adoption fee for this dog is $375, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs....all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! Puppies require an adopter who is home a good part of the day to continue their training - no exceptions! They are up-to-date on age appropriate vaccines and preventatives and will need to be spayed/neutered at the age of 6 months. Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16 weeks old Petconnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. If you're looking for an incredibly smart, very agile, super dedicated best friend, then look no further! Vanilla Bean is a 40 pound, 2 year old Australian Shepherd with a playful nature. She would be an amazing agility dog or companion to a family that enjoys training their animal - because she is ready to learn! She's been great with other dogs, respectful of the house cat, and good with the foster's 2 year old grandson. Vanilla Bean would be great for adventures because she has amazing recall. She has already mastered many basic commands and is working hard on even more. She is even well behaved during grooming. This lovely dog will need a yard with room to run and play and an adopter willing to keep her engaged and happy. She is housebroken, crate trained, and ready to find her forever family! The adoption fee for this dog is $350 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. Let this Beau be your man! Beau is a handsome 1 year old, 49lb, Australian Shepherd. He is super smart and easily trainable. While he may take some time to warm up to strangers, once he knows you're his person and trusts you he is very affectionate. He will be devoted to you and stay by your side. Beau is good with other dogs. Beau would love a quiet home with another confident pup to help him continue to build his and an owner who will also guide and teach him everything he needs to know while also making him feel safe and secure. Beau will require another confident dog pal, he is not a fan of cats, so a feline free home is best. Due to his breed and need for exercise a large, fenced yard where he can roam and play with his dog sibling would be best. Beau is neutered, micro-chipped and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. The adoption fee for this dog is $350 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter.
