Story
If you’re looking for a best friend who will make you laugh and love you fiercely, Jasper is your guy! This handsome Australian cattle dog mix has the kind of personality that lights up a room—and a heart.Jasper is every bit the picture of an energetic and curious explorer who loves sniffing out life’s little mysteries, a fenced in yard would be fun for this guy`s nose-led adventures but is certainly not a requirement. The instincts, tenacity and boundless energy of a herder are rooted in Jasper’s heritage, which is why he’s happiest when doing something, be it chasing balls, playing tag with other dogs in playgroups, or trotting by your side on a long hike or walk. He’ll never decline a good stroll in any kind of weather, and especially in the sunshine.Jasper is house-trained and responds well to behavior commands like sit, stay, down, etc., so he’s already got the basics down. What really sets him apart? His loyalty. Once Jasper knows you’re his person, he’ll stick by you through thick and thin - accepting every challenge you throw his way with tail wagging, eyes sparkling, and heart full of love.Ready for a dog who’s equal parts goofy, loyal and sweet? Jasper is waiting to turn your everyday moments into joyful adventures. Come meet him and let the fun begin!

Meet Akira- a charming lady who is ready to be your loyal companion through it all! Volunteers say Akira is polite and easy to walk. She also participates in playgroup where she`s frequently the `responsible adult`- welcoming everyone in but not getting involved in any wild parties in the yard. She has too much class for all that (also she doesn`t think running all the way to the other end of the yard just to run right back is a great use of her energy). This grande dame is ready to swan her way into your home like it`s the London Season and she`s the start of her own Bridgerton series. She`s got class, grace, and no time for nonsense (unless it`s her nonsense and comes with some snacks).

Story
Age: 2 years Size: 58 pounds Estimated breed: Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix Spotty needs a home with: resident dog(s), fenced in yard, no young children   Update 7/7:  Spotty is super dog social guy who needs to be with other dogs. He absolutely adores every dog he meets. Spotty is still a little reserved around people but has been making huge strides and seems to improve every day! He has gone through professional training to work on self- confidence and is able to go on walks now and trust more than he used to. Spotty is super submissive and needs a home with a very social dog that will hang out and play with him all day. He loves to play with dogs more than anything. Spotty is also house trained and crate trained. He requires a fenced yard as he can get spooked and we don’t want to take chances of him trying to flee. Spotty has endless potential if you give him the time and patience he needs and deserves to come out of his shell! -------- Spotty is estimated to be about 1.5 years old and 45 pounds. He was found as a stray in SC and was completely petrified at the shelter. He sat in a corner shaking and had to be carried just to move out of his kennel. He came to us very nervous and shy but with the help of his canine friends, he is slowly learning to trust and thriving in his foster home. He has also met and done training with our trainer where he is now comfortable going for walks on a leash and exploring the outdoors!   Spotty gains comfort from other dogs, so he requires a home with a friendly resident dog to help show him the ropes. Spotty would do best in a home without young children as he is still gets timid around new people and retreats. With time and patience, he will show his new family how goofy and happy he really is. All he needs is someone who is understands that just needs a little time to know he is safe. His best quality..... he is AMAZING with other dogs and wants to be their best friend. If you have a dog that has been wanting a sibling, Spotty is your guy!   To adopt Spotty, please apply on our website! www.keytolionsheart.org/adopt   Please note we cannot guarantee the breed or adult size of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training. November 4, 2024, 12:43 pm

Story
Meet Mooney! He is an incredibly smart, 48 lb, 5.5 year old cattle dog mix who was given up by his previous owner due to her illness. He loves people, playing with his doggie friends and being a goofball. The sofa is his favorite piece of furniture, but he will settle in a crate, on a cool wood floor, lounge in a water trough or snooze in the car. In spite of being nearly middle-aged, he still has lots of bounce and energy to run, jump and explore. He has been introduced to some agility work and caught on right away. Being food-motivated, training is a breeze. Mooney knows Sit, Wait, Down, Crate, Roll Over, Off, Gently and Come. He has the intelligence and focus of a cattle dog, the silliness of a boxer and the cuddly nature of a pittie. He seeks the affection and companionship of his people. Mooney will need a large fenced yard to keep his active brain engaged and humans with time to keep him exercised and entertained. He is a confident dude who would love to live with other playful, balanced dogs or be an only dog. He will do best in a home with savvy dog owners who are interested in providing him with structure, interesting things to do and learn, and appreciate his zest for life. Mooney is house and crate trained. Mooney is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. Story
Hey there! I’m River , a friendly 4-year-old mix of Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) and Husky—coming straight from Chatham, VA. I have this gorgeous blue-black coat and stunning blue eyes  that make me look like I’m ready to conquer the world (or maybe just a tennis ball, but who’s counting?). I’m a Sagittarius , so I’m all about adventure, curiosity, and a little bit of mischief. I weigh in at a lean 45 pounds, and I’m definitely all muscle under this pretty fur. I’ll tell you something about me— As a Cattledog-Husky mix, I have the energy and drive to match, but once I’m done zooming around, I’m pretty chill. I have a bit of a rough-and-tumble streak, though—one time, I had a little tussle with my sister during dinner (don’t worry, we’re both fine, and it was her fault!). Now I have this adorable little droop in the corner of my right eye. It's really no big deal—just sibling rivalry, you know? I’ve been really good about not causing any trouble when it comes to food, but here’s the thing: I’m a “foodie.”  I just love it so much! Although, you know... I'm a dog...so it's kinda our deal, ya know? Anyhoo, just make sure to feed all of the animals in your home separately and there should be no issues! When it comes to people, I can be a little timid at first, but I love to stick close and get all the attention. Sometimes I’ll even sneak off during meal times and wait until everyone’s done before I come back out. I’m super sweet and gentle when it comes to taking treats (I mean, who doesn’t love a snack, right?). I’m really well house-trained , and I get along with other dogs just fine—I even play and share with them like a champ!  I think a home with kids would be fine with me. As long as they give me space and take my cues, we'll get along just dandy. Since I can be a little shy at first, kids with a ton of energy and no real spatial awareness wouldn't be super fun for me. So maybe older kids and/or kids who know how to interact with dogs...that would be the best scenario. I like to spend time with other dogs. My foster mom took me over to her parents' house, and I even did well with their cat! I will say, I am a bit of an acrobat and a sprinter in one medium-sized furry pup body. ‍ I LOVE to climb and jump fences and once I do, just blink your eyes and I'm gone! So my people will definitely have to make sure their home is escape-proof because if not, see ya...wouldn't wanna be ya!! So that’s me in a nutshell: a beautiful, adventurous, sometimes goofy girl who’s a little bit shy, definitely athletic, but most important of all, I'm always ready to love. Looking forward to sharing my journey with you! ##2350984##
