Story
Age: 2 years Size: 58 pounds Estimated breed: Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix Spotty needs a home with: resident dog(s), fenced in yard, no young children   Update 7/7:  Spotty is super dog social guy who needs to be with other dogs. He absolutely adores every dog he meets. Spotty is still a little reserved around people but has been making huge strides and seems to improve every day! He has gone through professional training to work on self- confidence and is able to go on walks now and trust more than he used to. Spotty is super submissive and needs a home with a very social dog that will hang out and play with him all day. He loves to play with dogs more than anything. Spotty is also house trained and crate trained. He requires a fenced yard as he can get spooked and we don’t want to take chances of him trying to flee. Spotty has endless potential if you give him the time and patience he needs and deserves to come out of his shell! -------- Spotty is estimated to be about 1.5 years old and 45 pounds. He was found as a stray in SC and was completely petrified at the shelter. He sat in a corner shaking and had to be carried just to move out of his kennel. He came to us very nervous and shy but with the help of his canine friends, he is slowly learning to trust and thriving in his foster home. He has also met and done training with our trainer where he is now comfortable going for walks on a leash and exploring the outdoors!   Spotty gains comfort from other dogs, so he requires a home with a friendly resident dog to help show him the ropes. Spotty would do best in a home without young children as he is still gets timid around new people and retreats. With time and patience, he will show his new family how goofy and happy he really is. All he needs is someone who is understands that just needs a little time to know he is safe. His best quality..... he is AMAZING with other dogs and wants to be their best friend. If you have a dog that has been wanting a sibling, Spotty is your guy!   To adopt Spotty, please apply on our website! www.keytolionsheart.org/adopt   Please note we cannot guarantee the breed or adult size of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training. March 8, 2026, 4:13 pm

Story
Meet Mooney! He is an incredibly smart, 48 lb, 5.5 year old cattle dog mix who was given up by his previous owner due to her illness. He loves people, playing with his doggie friends and being a goofball. The sofa is his favorite piece of furniture, but he will settle in a crate, on a cool wood floor, lounge in a water trough or snooze in the car. In spite of being nearly middle-aged, he still has lots of bounce and energy to run, jump and explore. He has been introduced to some agility work and caught on right away. Being food-motivated, training is a breeze. Mooney knows Sit, Wait, Down, Crate, Roll Over, Off, Gently and Come. He has the intelligence and focus of a cattle dog, the silliness of a boxer and the cuddly nature of a pittie. He seeks the affection and companionship of his people. Mooney will need a large fenced yard to keep his active brain engaged and humans with time to keep him exercised and entertained. He is a confident dude who would love to live with other playful, balanced dogs or be an only dog. He will do best in a home with savvy dog owners who are interested in providing him with structure, interesting things to do and learn, and appreciate his zest for life. Mooney is house and crate trained. Mooney is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. Story
Meet Brewski - ready to make your day brighter! At just under a year old and 62 pounds of pure joy, this deliciously adorable furball is always in a good mood. He proudly rocks his signature look — one ear up, one ear down (permanently… and permanently adorable). Brewski sleeps through the night like a champ and wakes up ready to love the world. He’s the total package: playful and bouncy when it’s time for fun, yet surprisingly calm and easygoing for a pup his age (we’re guessing there’s a little Labrador along with cattle dog in the mix). He’s a quick learner, eager to please, and already showing off his smart-cookie status. Brewski gets along beautifully with other dogs (whether that is couch snuggle time or romping in the snow) and even his foster’s cat. Friendly, sweet, and just an all-around good boy, he’s a happy-go-lucky guy simply waiting for his forever adventure to begin. So go ahead — raise a Brewski. This joyful boy is ready to be your best friend for life. 🍻🐾 Brewski is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. Story
Jasper is a 10-month-old, 60-pound mystery mix (Cattle Dog? Shepherd? Spitz? Very handsome boy?) who turns heads wherever he goes. Athletic, smart, and extremely attentive, he watches his people closely, always eager to figure out how to please. He LOVES the snow, thrives on attention, and would excel at training of any kind. Jasper is friendly and confident with dogs of all sizes. As a young, recently neutered pup, he’s enthusiastic about play, but might need supervision depending on his playmate. He is extremely respectful of a correction, but can be annoying with more submissive pups. He’d do equally well with a canine companion or as an only dog. Jasper is making great progress on leash, has solid recall for his age, and has just begun supervised off-leash time around the farm—where he’s doing wonderfully. He settles nicely and is content simply being near his people, making him an ideal buddy for barn life, workdays, or everyday adventures. Smart, eager, and devoted, Jasper is ready to be someone’s constant sidekick. Jasper is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. He's an outgoing pup who adores meeting new people and making furry friends. However, Tex prefers to be the sole dog in his household, and he kindly requests a cat-free environment, too! He will also be too much for small children. If there are kids in the home they should be 10 yrs or older. One of Tex's favorite pastimes is going for car rides, his tail wagging with excitement as he embarks on adventures with his beloved humans. Plus, he's mastered the art of crate training, willingly retreating to his cozy den upon command.Although Tex is an active fellow, he's adaptable and could happily reside in an apartment setting as long as he receives ample exercise and mental stimulation. He's hoping to find a home with someone experienced in handling dogs, someone who understands his needs and is ready to embark on this journey with him.Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . Story
Skye is a rescue, originally born in a shelter in VA. I believe this is where the ingrained anxiety may come from. She needs a home with no other dogs. She is fine with dogs on walks, she is even my husband's service dog and helps him on walks with the kids because he is hard of hearing and she basically herds them. She would make an amazing princess of any home that she could relax in without feeling reactive towards another dog. She has been in training, rigorous training, and on Prozac and it did not change the situation. She could likely come off Prozac after settling in a new home, once her anxiety settled! It did make her gain weight. Anyway, she really is a beautiful baby girl that needs a home where she can shine as the independent woman she is! She even attends events with my husband and does well! We pray to find her the perfect home!

Story
Cutie (aka Judy Moody) is a low-key, gentle and sweet girl. She enjoys all people, especially children of all ages and loves visitors! At home, she enjoys finding sunny spots and cozy heat vents to cuddle up to during the day and is content to nap for hours at a time. She is a spotless houseguest with great manners. In the kitchen, she’ll happily keep you company while you cook dinner (roast chicken is her kryptonite) and will snuffle under the kitchen table for crumbs, but Judy also has great manners and understands no begging for food during mealtime. Judy loves car rides, two walk a day, children, chicken and house guests. Her dislikes include: overexcited dogs on leash, the vacuum & precipitation of any kind. We’ve found Judy very open to redirection on walks, and positive reinforcement has worked great to manage her mild leash reactivity. She is, at her core, a sensitive, mellow and smart girl who has excellent manners and aims to please. You can find more photos of adorable Cutie online here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/hsXBJ1wQ6v7xZNpZ7

Story
Thirteen pounds of bravery, bounce, and bedtime snuggles — Magpie is ready to explore the world (and then curl up in your arms afterward). At just 8 weeks old and already 13 lbs, Magpie is the bold adventurer of the bunch. New toy? He’s on it. New yard? Let’s investigate. New people? Best friends immediately. He started life tucked safely inside a hay bale in rural Virginia, where his incredible mama made sure he and his siblings were well-socialized, confident, and full of love. Magpie is curious, playful, and wonderfully outgoing — but when the exploring is done, he melts into a total cuddle bug. He absolutely loves to snuggle and is happiest when he can tuck himself right against you. He’s a quick learner who will thrive with consistent guidance. Like any young puppy, he’ll need a home where someone is around to help him master potty training and continue building great habits. If you’re looking for a little explorer by day and a devoted snuggler by night, Magpie is your perfect match. 🐾 The adoption fee for this puppy is $475, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. A $250 spay/neuter deposit is required at time of adoption. This fee covers spay/neuter at one of PetConnect's preferred veterinary partners. If the adopter chooses to use their own veterinarian, the deposit will be returned with proof of sterilization. Petconnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care.
