This sweet girl is a rescue who we brought home in 2020. She’s been a part of our family with another dog since then. We’ve also had cats and chickens who she’s always gotten along with. Recently, she’s started to guard resources when it comes to food or toys. She’s had a few scraps with our other dog, and we’re worried that it will continue to escalate. For that reason, we want her to go to a family with no other pets, so she can be the sole star of the show. She is very cuddly and loves to lay around and sleep. Not very interested in playing, so she is also a bit overweight. She would benefit from an owner who wants to take her on daily walks. She’s coming from a home with a fenced yard, so that would be ideal for her also.

hi Carmel, this stunning girl is a 5 year rough collie. She was purchased by a Lancaster farm to be a guardian dog for their livestock but unfortunately she did not do well with the job. She is 64 lbs. Carmel LOVES people! She has been a total sweetheart in our care - easy on the leash, allows all handling and has been great with all volunteers. She has been super social and friendly with us. Unfortunately, Carmel has a strong prey drive that lead her to harming and killing the livestock at the farm. She wasn't trained properly to do the job, just dropped on the farm and expected to do it, and she did kill chickens and one sheep. For that reason, she will not be placed in areas with livestock or with small animals at home (bunnies, cats, small dogs etc.) She would need to meet any resident dogs - we will only consider meets with other large dogs. She will come spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested.
