Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ALMA-Boy was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. He along with his7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. Alma-Boy is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 21 November 2022 and at the time of transport weighed around 35 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. Alma is such a gentle and sweet boy, he is a little wary at first, but having been through all he has leaving his rescue in Oman and traveling to the US is a huge change. After just a few days, he has settled in great, he gets excited when I go over to the kennels, will now take treats, very gently, shares a kennel with two other dogs and does great. One of his kennel mates, CHIP a young cattle dog is really helping to bring him out of his shell, teaching him to play and having him curious in the toys and chews. He sleeps snuggled up with, I feel he gets a lot of comfort with Chips typical cattle dog confidence. ALMA is thin, although being the kind of breed, a sighthound mix, he will not need to gain much more weight, but a few extra pounds would have him at a healthy weight. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Alma-Boy is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $300. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. Cabot is a handsome collie/hound mix looking for his forever! He is about 10 months old and is a very friendly boy. We think he'd like to have a doggy friend at home, and should do well with kids also. Cabot would love a fenced in yard where he can play and stretch his long legs, and an owner that can help him stay the active pup he wants to be! If you're looking for a sweet young dog, look no further than Cabot!

Story
Hi there! I'm Frodo, and I'm on a quest to find my forever home. You see, I've been back at the shelter a few times, but it's never been my fault-I'm just waiting for the right family to come along. If you're an adventure-loving human who has time to share, we might just be a perfect match! I'm not a fan of being left alone, so I'm looking for someone who'll be there to share the fun with me. I absolutely love going on walks and running around, and playing chase is my absolute favorite! I promise, once we bond, I'll be your loyal sidekick, always eager to be by your side. I can get along with other dogs, but I'm not too fond of cats-so no felines in my new home, please. I might take a little while to warm up to you, but give me some patience and I'll show you my full, lovable personality. I'd do best in a home without tiny toddlers or babies, as I might need a bit of space while I get used to my new surroundings. So, if you're ready for a loyal companion who's eager to explore and share adventures, I'm your guy! Let's start our journey together-I promise, it will be worth it. Story
Meet Marissa, a 15-month old Collie/Aussie mix with a heart as big as her personality. Her sweet nature, complemented by her goofy antics will keep you entertained for hours. Marissa is not just all fun and games, she's also very smart! She wears a beautiful, long chocolate and white coat. Weighing in at between 35 and 40 pounds now, she’ll grow to be about 45 to 50 pounds.  A girl with lots of energy, Marissa's playful spirit and loving nature make her the ideal companion! She gets along with people and other dogs that are on the calmer side. She doesn’t like dogs all in her face, but can you blame her?  In fact, it would be best if she were the only pet in the house. She likes her personal space. She's looking for a family that can match her energy and return her affection. Adopt Marissa and let her fill your life with joy and laughter! (ME, 1/9/24)  (age, weight updated 8/8/24) **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption/Transport $250.00 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.  We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.  September 8, 2024, 11:44 am
