Story
Hello Seamus! (pronounced Shamus) Seamus is a smooth tri collie approximately 6 years old and about 55 pounds. He came to HCR from a hoarding situation of neglect. He has come a long way with his foster mom learning trust and love. Seamus is happiest outside, running freely and barking greetings to neighboring kitties, kids, and doggies! His favorite place is chillin’ on the sofa. He can be a bit goofy playing with toys, and seeking attention and love with sweet little nose taps. He does well on a leash and short walks. He also enjoys car rides. Seamus’ perfect home would be a peaceful adult home with another calm playful dog to continue to give him confidence. Seamus loves other dogs and is just the sweetest boy! He is shy and will need a little patience and understanding to gain trust with his new owner. Seamus will make the right person a wonderful loving companion. Local adoptions only. Apply at HoustonCollieRescue.org. Texas applicants only.

Story
Bonnie is a sweet and bouncy collie mix. She is about 45 lbs now and will likely grow into a 50-55lb dog. She is extremely friendly and loves all people, kids and dogs. Do you want a dog that follows you from room to room? Do you want a cuddly lap dog who is super happy to go everywhere with you? Then Bonnie is your girl. She loves attention, loves to be pet and brushed. She has great dog manners and is submissive with new dogs. Bonnie gets very excited to meet new people and jumps around a lot, but then calms down quickly. She is sensitive girl who is very easy to train, but will be hurt if you raise your voice at her so she only needs a gentle reminder to stop unwanted behaviors. Bonnie is goofy and playful and wants to be with her people at all times! She has good house manners, housebroken, knows how to use a doggie door, bounces a lot but does not jump on people, walks on a leash, loads and travels in a car, loved kids and loves new people. Bonnie will fit in great with existing dogs, but she would also be happy as an. She is healthy and recently spayed so she’s ready for her forever home. Is there anything bad about Bonnie? Well, your socks and slippers are not safe around her but she is a teenager so what do you expect!

Story
Sampson is 8 years old. His human mom had an aneurysm and survived, but is no longer able to care for a dog. He is a purebred collie, but we did not get the papers. His hair can grow longer but we have been keeping it short more for his comfort than to control shedding. His shedding is mild to moderate not too bad. We have been taking care of him for over a year, but with our children getting older and developing more needs it is becoming more difficult to also take care of the dog. Sampson is a very calm dog. On walks he doesn’t tug on the lease, at home he lies down. He mostly ignores our cat, but has accepted cuddles from cats in the past home. He is kind to our dog, to dogs on walks, and the two dogs he used to live with. His herding instincts manifest in a routine patrol of the house. He walks from room to room and looks around for a bit then leaves.

Story
Dollie is a two year old sweetie. Always close by and ready to get her head scratched. Super friendly and chill. We don't think she'd been on to many car rides but she is getting more practice. It also didn't appear that she'd gone up or down many flights of stairs when she first came in, but she's a pro now! Great on a leash, comes when she's called. She's part Collie and part Husky and has those gorgeous Husky eyes. Her fur also seems more Husky-like than Collie-like. No guarantees but we don't think she sheds much--not like our Collies! She gets along great other 2 dogs in her foster home.  Dollie hasn't been around cats to our knowledge, but she's very laid back, so we'd expect she'd do fine. Couldn't find a friendlier dog!  We are taking applications for her. A fenced yard is required.  Please apply at freedomcollierescue.org ##1989406##

Story
Lexie is a such a sweet collie girl.  She is 8 years old.  She loves attention and to be loved on.  She gets along well with other dogs, but she has not been around cats so that is unknown.  Lexie likes to be groomed and behaves well when there.  She is housetrained and up-to-date on her shots.  She also has not been around small children, so that is unknown also, but based on her personality, we imagine she would love them.  Lexie does have a little age related stiffness, so joint supplements are a must.  Lexie would be the perfect collie for a retired person(s).  A fenced yard is required.  Please apply at freedomcollierescue.org ##2089901##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. She is Xena The Warrior PrincessXena was born approximately July 15, 2021.  She is a GORGEOUS Border Collie/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix or Tri-Colored Rhodesian Ridgeback.  Her personality is true to her breed! Xena's foster mom and dad have 3 other dogs that she likes to play with and share toys with, but she has also learned to be by herself.  Her foster mom says she needs an active family with another dog or multiple dogs. Xena needs room to run to get her energy out.  She likes going for long walks and exploring the wilderness. Xena sleeps with her foster mom and dad in bed with all the other dogs. It gets a bit crowded but she does love sleeping with the pack. This makes her feel safe. Xena does not like to be in a kennel or crate.  So, a family that is at home would be ideal. She likes eating ice cubes!  Xena says 'When mom gives me fresh water in a bowl she puts in extra ice cubes for me. That makes me feel special and loved.'  Xena loves riding in a vehicle and knows not to jump around and act like a baby. She can walk on a leash pretty well as long as she has her harness on; Xena is not a fan of collars. She also knows a few commands like “stay”, “no” and “potty”.Xena will bark at strangers until she gets to know them.  Her foster dad has taught her to fetch.  She loves chasing the ball and bringing it back, it’s the letting it go part that she has a hard time with BECAUSE she also loves to play tug of war.  Xena is also a fan of the Laser Light.  She thinks they are fascinating!Xena is Special Needs because if and when she gets too excited she has seizures.  The vet attributes this to a blow to the head as a puppy.  Therefore, she needs to be in a home that understands how to deal with occasional seizures.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 28, 2024, 9:53 am
