Story
Pretty Penny Penny is an 8-year-old female rough collie with the softest coat and the sweetest personality. She loves gentle pets, kind words, and someone who will tell her how beautiful and special she is several times a day. Penny is happiest simply being near her people and will quietly follow you from room to room, content to be your loyal sidekick. She is the perfect companion for someone looking for a low-maintenance collie who craves love and attention but doesn't need a lot of activity to be happy. As a senior girl, Penny moves at a slower pace and has some arthritis in her back legs, so she would thrive in a home that appreciates a laid-back lifestyle. She is currently on a fitness journey and has been steadily losing weight, which is improving her mobility every day. Penny enjoys short, leisurely walks and walks nicely on a leash. As an added bonus, she has no interest in jumping on furniture or greeting guests with muddy paws! Penny would prefer to be the only dog in her home. She socializes well with other dogs in neutral settings, such as on walks or in the backyard, but can be protective of her personal space when sharing a home with another dog. She is not possessive with people and absolutely loves human companionship. This sweet girl is incredibly people-oriented and has wonderful house manners. She is never destructive, enjoys spending time in her kennel, and can be left alone indoors for several hours without issue. Penny is looking for a family that understands the needs of a senior dog, including limited stairs, rugs or carpeting for secure footing, and a little help getting into the car when needed. Because of her mobility limitations, Penny would do best in a home with children over the age of six. She has not been cat-tested, but given her easygoing personality and low prey drive, we do not anticipate any issues. If you're looking for a gentle, loving companion who will reward your kindness with endless devotion, Pretty Penny may be the perfect match for you.

Story
Meet Piper. 5.5-6 yrs old. She’s been fully vetted and is ready for adoption. Piper came from a local shelter as a stray. Her medical has been lengthy and expensive as she went through heartworm treatment and had entropian surgery for one of her eyes. That’s where they fix the eyelashes from rolling inward and scratching the eye causing it to weep from irritation. She’s all healthy and feeling great. Piper is sweet, playful and mostly obedient. She is completely housebroken. Though Piper likes to play with other dogs she needs to be in a no other dog home since she resource guards her food. She would just love having a person she can snuggle on the couch with. We had Piper DNA’d and she is 50/50 smooth collie & husky. You may apply for Piper at https://houstoncollierescue.org/ado.../adoption-application/We adopt anywhere in Texas, OKC and Louisiana.

Story
Lily is an 18 month old Collie / Australian Cattle Dog mix who loves learning with her person! At just 41 lbs, she is agile, fine boned, and petite with velvety-soft short fur and the sweetest eyes. Lily would prefer a home without cats and small animals. She would like to be the only object of her person’s affection, or have a dog friend who is bigger than her and doesn’t mind some rough-and-tumble play at times. She likes to rule the roost, but will accept redirection from dogs who are larger than her. Lily loves to sit in your lap, but won’t smother you with kisses. She just wants to be close to you. Since Lily is 50% Cattle Dog, she is very intelligent but also cautious of new situations, choosing to observe and settle in with her person rather than burst into the room with gusto. She is enrolled with AKC Canine Partners which means she can use her excellent brain to compete in a variety of AKC events. She has even already started Scent Work training! Lily is so smart, she knows how to open some gates and wire crates to let her friends out to play with her, or get the remaining tidbits of food they left over. A simple clip keeps that from happening. Lily is crate trained, but instead sleeps in a doggie-safe room at night and while unsupervised. She walks well on a leash and sticks close to her person. She prefers treats over toys (especially those with stuffing…she operates on them quite quickly!) and is very food motivated. Her current family will help make the transition successful and give you tips on keeping Lily’s mind sharp and engaged. Ready for a loving companion who will watch a movie with you, but also get you off your feet to train and play? Apply to adopt Lily at houstoncollierescue.org.

Story
Meet Diesel (aka Mr. Floof)! Diesel is a friendly, sweet 1.5 year old Great Pyrenes mix weighing about 70 pounds. Diesel loves car rides and going on adventures. He would be a great protector to watch over your property, thus the GP. He has nice manners in the house, is kennel trained and walks nicely on a leash. He will need some reminders about not jumping when he’s excited. Diesel has a lot of energy and loves to play and run! The perfect adopter will appreciate a dog who loves lots of attention, petting and grooming, and who wants to be your best friend. Diesel is a gentle giant with a soft personality. His ideal home would be out in the country with room to run and a home to protect. Because of his size, a home with small children is not recommended. And yes, Diesel’s ears are in two different places on his head, so he always looks like a cartoon dog! If Diesel is your guy, apply at HoustonCollieRescue.org.

Story
What a character this girl is! Meet Daphne  Daphne was heartbreakingly left behind by her owner after apparently being kept outside in the yard and no longer wanted. Despite everything, this beautiful girl has remained nothing but sweet, loving, and full of life. Daphne deserves a family who will truly cherish her, spend time with her, and show her what real love feels like. During our shelter pull, we noticed a note on her kennel card that had incorrect information on it. Of course, we had to see for ourselves — and Daphne completely proved that note wrong. She was absolutely PERFECT during her temp test. No aggression whatsoever, just a happy-go-lucky girl eager to make friends with every dog she met. We think Daphne is a Collie/Shepherd mix and she’s around 2 years old, maybe even younger. She is incredibly sweet, eager to please, and has such a fun personality. Daphne is currently in boarding, but we would love nothing more than to get this sweet girl into a foster home where she can finally relax and feel loved Please consider fostering Daphne and giving her the second chance she deserves - visit www.scoutshonor.org for more information.June 20, 2026, 7:46 pm

Story
Sophie is an 11 year old, 70lb, spayed Collie mix. She is up to date on her vaccinations and is heartworm negative. She is good with children and loves to play with other dogs. She would not do well with cats or chickens due to her prey drive. Sophie is crate and house trained and walks well on leash. She is an active, playful girl who prefers daily walks to get her energy out. She would love to snuggle with you on the couch and give hugs to everyone she meets! Sophie came into our rescue as a young puppy, she was adopted twice and had forever homes for approximately 3-1/2 years both times. Both times she was returned due to changes in the family dynamics through no fault of hers. She is looking for a REAL forever home this time - one that she can live out her remaining years with love and companionship. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application at www.hhfrescue.org. Thank you for considering a rescued dog!
