Story
Meet Piper. 5.5-6 yrs old. She’s been fully vetted and is ready for adoption. Piper came from a local shelter as a stray. Her medical has been lengthy and expensive as she went through heartworm treatment and had entropian surgery for one of her eyes. That’s where they fix the eyelashes from rolling inward and scratching the eye causing it to weep from irritation. She’s all healthy and feeling great. Piper is sweet, playful and mostly obedient. She is completely housebroken. Though Piper likes to play with other dogs she needs to be in a no other dog home since she resource guards her food. She would just love having a person she can snuggle on the couch with. We had Piper DNA’d and she is 50/50 smooth collie & husky. You may apply for Piper at https://houstoncollierescue.org/ado.../adoption-application/ We adopt anywhere in Texas, OKC and Louisiana.

Story
Welcome Poppy! 51 lb, 1.5 years. We’ve had her fully vetted and spayed. At first, she is shy, nervous and bit overwhelmed, as expected. She was a bit grumbly when she first met the resident male dogs but that has all settled down. She attaches to her female human very quickly. She is very sweet and wants lots of petting. She walks fine on a leash, house trained, knows sit, come, wait and turn to name a few commands and just lays wonderfully for lots of brushing. We’ve seen no food aggression. She likes walks but can be afraid of cars and strange men not part of her house. She does not get on furniture but loves rugs and dog beds. She has found her voice barking at birds, squirrels and amazon deliveries. She prefers women and is wary of men but is making progress by laying at the feet of her foster dad. She does not like being crated but has been left out and so far, so good and sleeps at night in the bedroom with the other dogs. No chewing or misbehavior. She will play with a toy but prefers to run with the other dogs but then cuddles when resting. Poppy is available for adoption. Local adopters with indoor living and a fenced yard for exercise and going potty. Apply at houstoncollierescue.org

Story
Nilo is a 9-year-old bundle of love, joy, and loyalty. He’s a small (30lb) Collie mix with the perfect balance of playful energy and snuggly affection. He’s smart, gentle, and incredibly kind — the kind of dog that feels like he’s always been part of your heart. Nilo gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and especially humans — even the little ones. He’s patient, well-mannered, and just wants to be near someone he can love. Sadly, our family is facing long-term travel to care for aging relatives. We can’t let Nilo spend months in a kennel waiting. He deserves a warm home, a soft bed, and people to give his love to. Please consider opening your heart and home to Nilo. He’s ready to be your shadow, your cuddle buddy, your most loyal companion. ❤️ Adopt Nilo. Give him the forever family he’s been so good for. 📍 Contact us today — Nilo is waiting.

Story
Sophie is an 10 year old, 70lb, spayed Collie mix. She is up to date on her vaccinations and is heartworm negative. She is good with children and loves to play with other dogs. She would not do well with cats or chickens due to her prey drive. Sophie is crate and house trained and walks well on leash. She is an active, playful girl who prefers daily walks to get her energy out. She would love to snuggle with you on the couch and give hugs to everyone she meets! Sophie came into our rescue as a young puppy, she was adopted twice and had forever homes for approximately 3-1/2 years both times. Both times she was returned due to changes in the family dynamics through no fault of hers. She is looking for a REAL forever home this time - one that she can live out her remaining years with love and companionship. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application at www.hhfrescue.org. Thank you for considering a rescued dog!

**This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas** Meet Pinta! Pinta is the perfect dog for someone who’s active and ready to play. And with her adorable big pointy ears, it’s hard not to fall in love with this pup! Pinta loves to stay busy—whether she's chasing toys, running around with her shelter mate Belle, or exploring the nature around her. She can be a bit of a diva at times, too. Pinta loves being outside, but she’s not a fan of getting her feet wet and muddy in the rain. Truly, this little diva is full of personality—and that’s exactly what makes her so lovable. Pinta is looking for an active home that can help her burn off energy through fun, interactive activities. But don’t worry—with the right person, she’ll happily wind down and cuddle up after a fun-filled day of play. Does this fun-loving pup sound like the perfect match for you? *** Please apply to foster or adopt online at www.corridorrescue.org Direct inquiries to: adopt@corridorrescue.org The adoption fee of $225 covers spay/neuter, microchip and current vaccines. Story
Hello!  My name is Jenny.  Oh boy, am I ever SWEET!  I was dropped off at a vet clinic with my two brothers when I was six months old and then I lived there for 3 months.  Now, I'm in a foster home and I LOVE having a home!  The vet thinks I was born around January of 2025 and I weigh about 35 - 40 pounds.  I think I am a cattle dog mix - I'm white and tan-speckled. Oh my gosh and I am very soft.  I am terrific and VERY calm in the house, I am house trained, crate trained and I am great at using a doggie door.  I am a quiet girl, I'm polite and very gentle. I LOVE other dogs (heck, even the little ones like me), kids AND I like kitties a lot (I like to take naps with them - see one of my pictures).  At first I'm a little bit shy but my foster mom is working on showing me that people are really nice.  At the vet office that I lived at there were 7 ladies!  So, I'm still getting to see that men are nice too! Just give me time to keep getting confident.I will sit for treats and I love chewies like Oinkies and Bully Sticks.  I might need you to have some for me for a while since I'm still a pup and I need to chew (and will) for a little bit longer. I will outgrow the naughty part of chewing but will always like having chewies to enjoy. I'm also still a little bit in my puppy digging stage so please keep an eye on me for a while and maybe put me in a crate when you leave the house for a while.  But I really will outgrow these things. I LOVE nice walks, I'm very good on a leash and also I ride very well in the car.  I am a wonderful bed buddy. If you let me sleep in your room I will lay down and sleep all night (close the door just in case).  When I get older I would be able to have the run of the house and not get into trouble but in the beginning, please put me in a crate or in a single room with a person.   I don't really care about toys right now - I prefer the company of living friends.  My life revolves around you.  Maybe I could be a therapy dog!  Come and get me!!!! If you are interested in her, please send an email to SCP! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review!  Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas. Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clear Lake Petco, 2410 Bay Area Boulevard.  Since all our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule. If you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com so that the Dog Coordinator can let you know if the dog will be at the Saturday Adoption Event at Petco. If you just want to meet some great dogs looking for their forever home, please come visit with us on Saturday!November 30, 2025, 6:06 pm
