Meet Junior: your future best friend!Junior is a 5-year-old, 45 lb cuddle bug who is looking for a loving home where he can be by your side as much as possible. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will happily lounge on the couch with you, Junior is your perfect match! This sweet boy has a gentle soul and loves nothing more than being close to his people. He’s a certified couch potato but has recently started playing with other dogs, showing his fun, playful side. Once he warms up, he gets along well with other dogs and seems to enjoy their company, but he’d also do just fine as your one-and-only furry best friend. What makes Junior special?• He’s affectionate & loyal: he’ll be your shadow and wants to be wherever you are!• Good with dogs (after an introduction): he may need a little time to warm up, but he enjoys having dog friends around.• He’s low energy: he’s happy with a cozy couch, a warm bed, and a loving human to snuggle with.• He’s well-behaved when left alone: while he has some separation anxiety, he does fine left uncrated. His ideal home?Junior would thrive in a home with someone who works from home or is retired since he loves companionship. He’ll need a family that doesn’t mind sharing their couch or bed because snuggling is his favorite pastime! A patient adopter willing to continue his potty training and help him feel secure will be rewarded with endless love and devotion. Are you ready to welcome this sweet, loving boy into your home? Story
Welcome Poppy! 51 lb, 1.5 years. We’ve had her fully vetted and spayed. At first, she is shy, nervous and bit overwhelmed, as expected. She was a bit grumbly when she first met the resident male dogs but that has all settled down. She attaches to her female human very quickly. She is very sweet and wants lots of petting. She walks fine on a leash, house trained, knows sit, come, wait and turn to name a few commands and just lays wonderfully for lots of brushing. We’ve seen no food aggression. She likes walks but can be afraid of cars and strange men not part of her house. She does not get on furniture but loves rugs and dog beds. She has found her voice barking at birds, squirrels and amazon deliveries. She prefers women and is wary of men but is making progress by laying at the feet of her foster dad. She does not like being crated but has been left out and so far, so good and sleeps at night in the bedroom with the other dogs. No chewing or misbehavior. She will play with a toy but prefers to run with the other dogs but then cuddles when resting. Poppy is available for adoption. Local adopters with indoor living and a fenced yard for exercise and going potty. Apply at houstoncollierescue.org

Story
Introducing handsome and loving Beau!!! Beau is a rough collie about 4 years old. This special boy is a total love bug! He attaches to his person very quickly and claims them. He is an extreme cuddler most content sitting in his human’s lap. Beau loves his toys and great at playing fetch. He knows basic commands, walks well on a leash and is housetrained. Beau loves to play with other dogs and needs to have a buddy that is a bit submissive. He’s great with cats too! He’s also a gem on the grooming table. Beau is neutered and up to date on all vaccines. His owner passed away and was rehomed to a family that didn’t treat him very well. Beau is quite protective of his home if a visitor comes over. He should be kenneled or leashed when visitors come by. Poor guy is a bit storm phobic and will shake wanting comfort from you. Beau is just the best but will need an experienced owner that understands his territorial quirks. Appy at https://houstoncollierescue.org/

Story
Bonnie is a sweet and bouncy shepherd/collie mix about a year old and 55-60 lbs. She is extremely friendly and loves people and dogs. Do you want a dog that follows you from room to room? Do you want a cuddly lap dog who is super happy to go everywhere with you? That is Bonnie! She has great dog manners and is submissive with new dogs. Bonnie gets excited to meet new people and jumps around a lot but then calms down quickly. Bonnie will fit in great with another dog, but she would also be happy as an only dog as long as she gets lots of attention from her people. She is a sensitive girl who is very easy to train but will get her feelings hurt if you raise your voice at her. Bonnie can get shy and overwhelmed in a home with constant noise and activity, so we suggest a home with older kids (6 or older). She has good house manners, housebroken, knows how to use a doggie door, walks on a leash, loads and travels in a car, and loves new people. Is there anything bad about Bonnie? Well, your socks and slippers are not safe around her! Complete an application at https://houstoncollierescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/
