Story
Meet Piper. 5.5-6 yrs old. She’s been fully vetted and is ready for adoption. Piper came from a local shelter as a stray. Her medical has been lengthy and expensive as she went through heartworm treatment and had entropian surgery for one of her eyes. That’s where they fix the eyelashes from rolling inward and scratching the eye causing it to weep from irritation. She’s all healthy and feeling great. Piper is sweet, playful and mostly obedient. She is completely housebroken. Though Piper likes to play with other dogs she needs to be in a no other dog home since she resource guards her food. She would just love having a person she can snuggle on the couch with. We had Piper DNA’d and she is 50/50 smooth collie & husky. You may apply for Piper at https://houstoncollierescue.org/ado.../adoption-application/ We adopt anywhere in Texas, OKC and Louisiana.

Story
Meet Mia and Milo. Not quite 2 yrs old, DOB 2/10/24, Milo is 53 lbs, Mia is 42 lbs., rough collie or possibly sheltie and lab mix give them the smooth collie appearance. Owner relinq due to personal hardship, these 2 sweeties are socialized, great with kids, car rides, other dogs and cats.. They are heartworm & fecal negative, altered, fully vetted, microchipped and on monthly preventative. Foster dad says: They have been the sweetest fosters we've ever gotten. They have settled down, eat well, and sleep well. We do think they are a bonded pair. They function together, they are nice to each other, and take turns being lead dog. Though they do great with other dogs they are never far from each other. If you’d like help us keep these 2 together and get them home for the holidays please apply at https://houstoncollierescue.org/adoption/collies-for-adoption/

Story
Grace’s journey to safety is nothing short of remarkable. Found living outside a rural Arkansas gas station, she had been surviving entirely on her own. Severely underweight at just 29 pounds, she arrived in rescue shy, exhausted, and unsure of what kindness felt like. Once welcomed into a warm home, Grace blossomed. She quickly discovered the joys of soft beds, full bowls, and gentle hands. Her initial shyness has melted into a sweet, affectionate personality. Grace loves love. She leans in for soft pets, follows her people with quiet devotion, and radiates gratitude in everything she does. She’s wonderful with other dogs and has been very sweet and respectful toward the resident cat. Her collie nature shines through in her intelligence, sensitivity, and unmistakably gentle spirit. Grace is house trained and crate trained. She settles nicely in her crate, though she may give a few soft barks at first before relaxing. She has gained healthy weight and is feeling stronger every day. She is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease, and the rescue will cover all of her care. She has already been spayed and vaccinated. Despite everything she has endured, she remains soft, trusting, and beautifully resilient. With continued love and patience this girl is truly going to shine. We estimate Grace to be 5 years old.   Now she is ready for the chapter she has always deserved, her very own forever home filled with love.If you are looking for a loyal companion with a tender heart and a story that will stay with you, Grace is waiting. ##2602287##

Story
Rocco is a SOULFUL dog who looks you square in the eye as if he understands your thoughts. He's FULL GROWN 1.5- 2 yrs old, 50lbs & only 20" tall at the shoulders. Completely HOUSEBROKEN, OBEDIENCE TRAINED, and doesn't bark, not even at the doorbell! Rocco chases cats but he's HEALTHY, NEUTERED, & VACCINATED. He plays well with any dog- BIG or SMALL and walks nicely on a lead. Chill for his age but loves to play and romp in a neighbor's yard with her Boxer. (We're situated on a golf course and don't have any yard at all.) Breed apps think- mixed with Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Australian Shepherd, Catahoula Leopard, & Kelpie too! --Found in 77067 of Houston during the freeze-- PetLink put us in touch with the owner, unfortunately, he was a teenager who had adopted him as a puppy for free and without asking permission and was returned to the breeder. Who owned him after that is still a mystery, as we've reported him as "found" with shelters and on various platforms without a single inquiry.
