Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. While waiting for my DNA test results to come back, my foster mom thinks I may be a Collie shepherd mix.     What ever I am, I am an adorable puppy.   I love. running in the yard, chasing butterflies and squirrels with my foster sister.I am working on Potty training.   I sleep through the nighr in my crate and am anxious to go outside as soon as I wake up.       I am looking for an active family that will spend time training me while they spoil me.I have heard that there is sand on the beach, and lots of water.   I love playing in the water.    Will you play with me? =============== Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . ADOPTION FEE:  The adoption fee includes vaccinations, bordetella, deworming, rabies, Microchip including a lifetime registration and spay/neuter.   PUPPIES   Texas State law requires that we sterilize any animal adopted through this agency.     This will normally occur between 5 and 6 months at one of our approved veterinarians at the expense of the rescue. Children under 8 years old  often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs.   In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children. Approval:  You will be notified via email once your application is approved.  Once notified, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our approved locations.   Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you. Story
COURTESY POST: “Hi my name is Luna, I come from the Texas Valley. My foster saved me from the streets of Brownsville. I am about 35 pounds and less than 2 years old. My foster just moved here from Brownsville and lives in Southwest Houston. She doesn’t know anyone, so she needs you to repost this to help me find my forever home. I currently live with 2 dogs and a cat and have been a good girl when strange dogs come to visit. I was recently fully vetted and am heartworm negative. I was spayed and am on heartworm, worm, flea and tick treatment. I will bring 4 more months of preventative with me. I am well socialized with adults and children, housebroken and crate trained. I can take a moment to warm up to strangers, but I'm just a love bug. I love to take walks and cuddle. I would be a great fit into any family!'For more information or to meet me – please Email: cyndiraccoon@gmail.comJune 5, 2023, 10:47 am

Story
** NOTE: To apply to adopt Annabelle, please complete the online adoption application you will find near her photos on our website: www.BaytownHumaneSociety.org This sweet girl was rescued from a church parking lot as a starving puppy with skin issues. Poor darling had been dumped and was totally bewildered. The finder named her Annabelle and released her to BHS right away. Annabelle has since been fully vaccinated, wormed, spayed, and micro-chipped. She has grown by leaps and bounds, turned out a beautiful, eye-catching coat, and is on the hunt for a great family to love for all the years of her life! Annabelle is now approximately 10 months old and weighs about 45 pounds. She is fun-loving as any healthy, happy puppy can be! She does well with other dogs and on leash. She is crate-trained and eats her meals in the crate since she doesn't want to share. Her foster Mom says that even though Annabelle likes chasing the other dogs and playing tug-of-war with them, she also loves to cuddle on the couch. This sweet dog is at a perfect age to be incorporated into an active family who can mold her into who they want her to be. **NOTE: To apply to adopt Annabelle, please complete the online adoption application you will find near her photos on our website: www.BaytownHumaneSociety.org

Story
My name is Indy, and I am INDEED a special boy! I have very particular tastes, and love to enjoy the finer things in life. I was very shy when I first came in, but now I am a Behavior Rehabilitation Center Graduate and would love to show you my goofy personality! I am a little shy with new people, but once I'm comfortable I'll start showing off my dapper dance moves (like the tippy taps I do with my front feet when I'm very excited!). My favorite things with my trusted homies are: butt scratches (I'll put my butt on your legs to remind you, don't worry!) and treats (but only the best, of course!). The Behavior Team will approve applications for me to ensure I am successful in a home environment. If you are interested in letting me be the center of your attention, I would love to be your loyal goofy boy!

Story
Vivian is a beautiful young blue Merle smooth coat female collie. She is approximately 2-3 years old. She is in excellent health, spayed and 55 pounds. Vivian is house trained and uses a doggie door. She is a voracious eater! She loves to play with the other collies in her foster home. She has a tendency to hop around like a bunny rabbit when playing! She’s so cute! Vivian is very cautious towards humans. It took about 4 weeks to accept petting from her foster mom. She continues to become progressively more trusting. She is very inquisitive and playful with the other dogs. She is learning the leash but patience is a virtue. Vivian has never shown any aggressive tendencies. She would do best in a home that is calm and relatively quiet. She will also need a furry friend playmate to help grow her confidence. Her family will need patience to help build trust.
