Story
Stella - GSD Mix - Female - 2 years - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Stella: This gorgeous girl is the Mom to the Gilmore Girls (Emily, Lorelai and Rory) - she was found by her foster family in an abandoned trailer after just having given birth to 7 puppies, they were about 10 days old at that time. Stella was a dedicated mother for the first few months, until her pups grew independent personalities and were starting to push boundaries, then she was done mothering them. Stella now enjoys solo yard time and people attention, barking at other dogs - even her daughters at times - and going on walks. Stella is a long haired German Shepherd/something mix, about 2 yrs old and displays many typical shepherd qualities, like desire to please her people, above average smarts,  food motivation (this girl is willing to do sketchy stuff for food..), and some dog reactivity.  We do not know her background, other than she was not medically taken care of and came to us heartworm positive. She was treated for heartworms and is now waiting for all remnants of the worms and medication to clear her system before her spay, which should be early July. Stella is looking for a home where she can be the only dog, where she can get the personal attention and affection she craves and with a handler that is willing and able to spend some time teaching her new tricks and manners, she is eager to learn. ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***

Story
What a character this girl is! Meet Daphne  Daphne was heartbreakingly left behind by her owner after apparently being kept outside in the yard and no longer wanted. Despite everything, this beautiful girl has remained nothing but sweet, loving, and full of life. Daphne deserves a family who will truly cherish her, spend time with her, and show her what real love feels like. During our shelter pull, we noticed a note on her kennel card that had incorrect information on it. Of course, we had to see for ourselves — and Daphne completely proved that note wrong. She was absolutely PERFECT during her temp test. No aggression whatsoever, just a happy-go-lucky girl eager to make friends with every dog she met. We think Daphne is a Collie/Shepherd mix and she’s around 2 years old, maybe even younger. She is incredibly sweet, eager to please, and has such a fun personality. Daphne is currently in boarding, but we would love nothing more than to get this sweet girl into a foster home where she can finally relax and feel loved Please consider fostering Daphne and giving her the second chance she deserves - visit www.scoutshonor.org for more information.June 8, 2026, 7:21 pm

Story
Sophie is an 11 year old, 70lb, spayed Collie mix. She is up to date on her vaccinations and is heartworm negative. She is good with children and loves to play with other dogs. She would not do well with cats or chickens due to her prey drive. Sophie is crate and house trained and walks well on leash. She is an active, playful girl who prefers daily walks to get her energy out. She would love to snuggle with you on the couch and give hugs to everyone she meets! Sophie came into our rescue as a young puppy, she was adopted twice and had forever homes for approximately 3-1/2 years both times. Both times she was returned due to changes in the family dynamics through no fault of hers. She is looking for a REAL forever home this time - one that she can live out her remaining years with love and companionship. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application at www.hhfrescue.org. Thank you for considering a rescued dog!

Story
Pretty Penny Penny is an 8-year-old female rough collie with the softest coat and the sweetest personality. She loves gentle pets, kind words, and someone who will tell her how beautiful and special she is several times a day. Penny is happiest simply being near her people and will quietly follow you from room to room, content to be your loyal sidekick. She is the perfect companion for someone looking for a low-maintenance collie who craves love and attention but doesn't need a lot of activity to be happy. As a senior girl, Penny moves at a slower pace and has some arthritis in her back legs, so she would thrive in a home that appreciates a laid-back lifestyle. She is currently on a fitness journey and has been steadily losing weight, which is improving her mobility every day. Penny enjoys short, leisurely walks and walks nicely on a leash. As an added bonus, she has no interest in jumping on furniture or greeting guests with muddy paws! Penny would prefer to be the only dog in her home. She socializes well with other dogs in neutral settings, such as on walks or in the backyard, but can be protective of her personal space when sharing a home with another dog. She is not possessive with people and absolutely loves human companionship. This sweet girl is incredibly people-oriented and has wonderful house manners. She is never destructive, enjoys spending time in her kennel, and can be left alone indoors for several hours without issue. Penny is looking for a family that understands the needs of a senior dog, including limited stairs, rugs or carpeting for secure footing, and a little help getting into the car when needed. Because of her mobility limitations, Penny would do best in a home with children over the age of six. She has not been cat-tested, but given her easygoing personality and low prey drive, we do not anticipate any issues. If you're looking for a gentle, loving companion who will reward your kindness with endless devotion, Pretty Penny may be the perfect match for you.

Story
Meet Piper. 5.5-6 yrs old. She’s been fully vetted and is ready for adoption. Piper came from a local shelter as a stray. Her medical has been lengthy and expensive as she went through heartworm treatment and had entropian surgery for one of her eyes. That’s where they fix the eyelashes from rolling inward and scratching the eye causing it to weep from irritation. She’s all healthy and feeling great. Piper is sweet, playful and mostly obedient. She is completely housebroken. Though Piper likes to play with other dogs she needs to be in a no other dog home since she resource guards her food. She would just love having a person she can snuggle on the couch with. We had Piper DNA’d and she is 50/50 smooth collie & husky. You may apply for Piper at https://houstoncollierescue.org/ado.../adoption-application/We adopt anywhere in Texas, OKC and Louisiana.

Story
Meet the life of the party — Kenny! Kenny is a friendly, medium-sized rough coat male collie with a heart as big as his beautiful smile. At seven years old, this handsome sable and white boy is healthy, happy, and ready to find the loving forever home he deserves. After being surrendered when his elderly owner was hospitalized, Kenny has shown nothing but resilience, sweetness, and an incredible love for people and other dogs alike. Kenny is social, well-adjusted, and always eager to make new friends. He greets his foster parents and strangers with bright eyes, a wagging tail, and joyful enthusiasm. He truly thrives around others and gets along wonderfully with every dog he has met. Whether he’s joining the fun or simply soaking up attention, Kenny brings warmth and happiness everywhere he goes. This sweet boy enjoys walks and does very well on a leash. He loves keeping an eye on the world from the window — especially watching for deer or the latest Amazon delivery — and he’s always ready for a car ride adventure. One of Kenny’s favorite things in the world is having his ears scratched, and he will happily lean in for extra affection. Kenny’s gorgeous full rough coat makes him especially striking, but it’s his loving personality that truly shines. He is neutered, fully vetted, crate trained, and recently learned to be house trained. He currently sleeps comfortably in his crate at night and has adjusted beautifully to life in foster care. Kenny would likely thrive in almost any environment. While he could do well as an only dog, his social nature suggests he would love having another canine companion to share life with. Although he hasn’t been around cats in his foster home, his gentle and accepting temperament indicates he could likely coexist peacefully with them if introduced properly. If you’re looking for a loyal companion, a social butterfly, and a gentle soul wrapped in a fluffy collie coat, Kenny may just be your perfect match.

Story
Rachel - Border Collie/Lab mix - Female - 6.5 yrs - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Rachel: this gorgeous 6.5-year-old Border Collie Lab has returned to us as her needs and her families availability simply grew apart, like it happens sometimes. Rather than fitting a square peg into a round hole, it was determined that Rachel would be happier in a home that can more closely fit her needs. Rachel likes to have something to do, either playing with a toy or one of her dog friends or going for a walk. She seems to have a permanent smile on her face, and loves attention. She can be a little sneaky and will find unsecured garbage cans and unattended food - as she is very smart. She fine with relaxing with her pack after some playtime. Rachel is fine with most other dogs - she can be a little slow on picking up subtle social cues form other dogs ("I don't want to play right now" - "OK, how about now" 5 seconds later...) so tolerant dogs are the easiest fit, and while she is pretty easily corrected and redirect, you may have to repeat yourself a few times for her to believe you. She does want to please her humans and loves to cuddle. Rachel does not like to be left alone, and is looking for a home where someone is home a lot and can devote time and energy to her exercise, training and give her the attention and affection she craves. Some dogs handle changes easily, Rachel is not one of them, so an experienced and patience handler is preferred. Rachel would do best in a home with another dog or more than one, she loves kids, is house trained, but does not like to be alone and is not a fan of the crate. She can be crated and is currently crated, albeit in a rather high security crate. She is highly food motivated, which is great for training, is fine in the car, her leash training could use some fine tuning, but she is making great progress and has attended numerous group classes with her trainer with great success. ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet, as not all dogs come to all Meet and Greets***

Story
Xena - Husky/Heeler Mix - Female - 14 months - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Xena: We think she is likely a husky/cattle dog mix. What this means, is that she has more energy than the energizer bunny.  Xena is also very smart and good at problem solving.  Smart dogs are not always easy dogs. Xena does well with supervision and guidance, but left to her own devices, she will make poor choices. Xena is crate trained and is working on loose leash walking.  She has done well with dogs of all sizes.  She is likely not great around cats or other small animals.  Especially if she was not supervised. Xena is fun and energetic, and a little too smart for her own good. Xena is looking for an active home, with or without another dog for her to play with, but with an experienced active handler that wants a dog to train for dog sports (think Dock Diving, Rally, Barn Hunt, FastCAT etc) or an active regular hiking/biking/running partner.

Story
Norman - Plott Hound/Heeler Mix - Male - 8 Yrs - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Norman: this delightful little guy is about 42 lbs, a neutered male Plott Hound and blue Heeler mix, we think. Norman does not have a tail and was likely born without one. He LOVES to run and play, likes toys and gets along well with other dogs and cats and loves kids of all ages. Norman walks well on leash, rides well in the car and is crate and house trained.  Norman is looking for an active home that will take the time to exercise him regularly as he really likes to run. He is quite "slippery" near the front door and will take himself for a run if that door is not watched properly, especially with kids in the house. He would love a jogging partner, that will likely satisfy his desire to run and curb his interest for solo excursion. He can be an only dog if he gets enough attention and affection from his humans, he would likely enjoy the company of another dog in the house.
