Story
If you are looking for a sweet, well-behaved, fun-loving boy then Oodle just might be your guy. When Oodle came to NJ he was a little underweight but he is now thriving at a healthy 20 lbs. This boy has a beautiful thick coat of cinnamon and white fur - you won't be able to resist running your fingers through it. Oodle is mostly Corgi with a little bobtail but his legs are longer so perhaps some Chihuahua is in there, too.  Oodle has never met a stranger - when he meets a new person, he immediately accepts them as a new friend. He is 100% house trained, crate trained, super smart, a great eater and loves to be with his people. He knows simple commands like sit & stay. He is great on a leash - he's a pleasure to walk as long as no other dogs are around as he tends to be a bit leash reactive. Oodle LOVES to play fetch but also enjoys his daily naps. He’s an easy-going boy with a lot of personality. You would never know this little guy is 11 years old! Oodle likes his stuffed toys and never tears them apart to remove the squeaker. But when he's in a playful mood, he likes to play fetch with these stuffies. And he will actually bring the toy back to you! He is so good in the home, he doesn't damage anything he finds around the house but if you want to crate him when you're gone, he does fine in his crate. Oodle is great company and will stay close to your side. His sweet temperament makes him extremely lovable! He is currently being fostered in a home with no pets or kids but was originally fostered in TX with other dogs and cats. Oodle occasionally will need an anti-inflammatory medication as he has some arthritis in his back right leg. Two fun facts about Oodle : 1 - Windshield wipers makes him bark. 2 - Because he is missing a few front teeth, his tongue tends to hang out especially while he’s sleeping ~ so cute! If you are interested in meeting Oodle, please complete an adoption application and be sure to ask for Oodle TX. His adoption fee is $250.July 7, 2025, 10:36 am

Story
Comer is a precious 9-year-old Corgi/Terrier mix who’s sure to capture your heart. Weighing in at a perfect 30 lbs, she’s the ideal size to curl up on your lap for a cozy cuddle or snuggle beside you after a long day. While she may be considered a senior, Comer’s heart and energy are young at spirit, and she’s ready to live her best life with you! Sadly, Comer had to be surrendered back to Eleventh Hour Rescue after her previous owner became ill. Despite this, Comer’s resilience shines through. She’s a sweet, affectionate girl who  is great with cats, currently living with a foster feline sibling. While Comer seems comfortable with feline friends, she can be picky about her canine friends, and that is why a home with no other dogs would be ideal for her. Comer is friendly and loves to spend time with her humans, but she can be a bit nervous around men. A gentle, patient introduction to new male family members will help her feel comfortable and build trust. Whether she’s lounging with you on the couch or enjoying a playful moment, her joyful personality will surely brighten your day. House-trained, crate-trained, and a model car passenger, Comer is a well-behaved companion who’s ready to bring happiness and comfort to her forever home. She’s up to date on all her vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $215, a small price for a lifetime of love, laughter, and companionship. If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly best friend who will shower you with affection, Comer might be the perfect match for you. Apply today at EHRDOGS.ORG and ask for COMER — she can’t wait to meet you!May 28, 2025, 11:50 am

Story
Meet Merlin! This funny quirky 2 year old mix was surrendered when his owner was relocating. He had not been to a vet (ever?!), was covered in some kind of weird healing scabs that his owners said was a reaction to some new shampoo?, and was a bit thin but his skin has healed up nicely and he’s put on weight. He gets nervous at first and picks and chooses his friends, but warms up fast and dances around for attention. He is obsessed with squeaky toys, walks nicely on a leash, and is fine with other dogs and could live with or without them in a home. He was said to be a Maltese mix? Though he looks more like an eskie/pom mix or oversized longhair chihuahua. Merlin is 13lbs (probably should be about 15), has been vetted, neutered, updated on shots, and is ready for a home. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Merlin in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Story
This is the face of a senior who doesn’t understand why he’s homeless 😞 Meet Jorge. His owner was frantically driving around with him looking for a shelter to take him immediately, refusing to bring him back home because he snapped at them that morning trying to put his harness on when he wanted to be left alone. His owners had been having some changes in their living situation and health issues and it was just too much to continue to care for him. We were expecting the worst of him but he’s actually more of a sad scared boy than feisty and evil, and he tried really hard to show that he wasn’t comfortable being cornered and really didn’t like that harness. He’s been fine with other dogs and cooperative with us, picks up a routine quickly and likes having access to a fenced yard better than having to be walked. But he’s a pretty easy guy overall for the right home and doesn’t want to make waves and he’s been used to living with other dogs in the past. He’s about 12 years old, a chunky 20lbs and looks like a giant chihuahua, or a corgi on stilts, or a toy shepherd/husky mix 🤷‍♀️, neutered, updated on shots and in pretty good shape for his age overall. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Jorge in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. Story
This handsome Cowboy Corgi is being fostered in East TN Athens. Out of state welcome. The adoption fee on Adopt A Pet includes the cost of transport. We use Rescue Riders for our pet transport needs because they are the best! Meet Cowboy! We gave him this name because well, he is likely a cowboy corgi. This sweet gentle soul was a stray that ran the streets of Cleveland TN and had numerous people trying to catch him. He is very weary of strangers so he takes a little bit to warm up to you. He walks good on a leash and uses his kennel like a pro. He has not tried to potty inside so far after three days so that’s a plus. He is very happy with numerous other dogs. He so far has been a quiet observer and very sweet. He would do fine with children that are older and can respect the dogs space. No hitting hugging and kissing, tugging, climbing etc. Please apply at petpath.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gary was found as a stray in Ocean County, NJ and brought to the shelter. He was a little thin but otherwise in good health.  Gary is 26 pounds, about 5 years old, UTD and neutered. Gary has been friendly with all people and is a good leash walker.  He seemed fine with the other dogs but can be a bit pushy so dog meets will be required. We will be getting to know him a little better once he is settled into his foster home but so far we find Gary to be delightful! If interested in Gary please fill out an adoption application out at njshpetrescue.org - please note that you must live within a 90 minute radius of our home base of Chester, NJ to be considered.
