Story
Some dogs arrive in rescue angry at the world. Others arrive completely shut down. And then there are dogs like Eddie — little souls who have every reason not to trust people anymore, yet still look at you with hopeful eyes and quietly ask for love.   Eddie is an absolutely adorable one-year-old Beagle mix weighing about 30 pounds, and everything about him is endearing. From his compact little body to his soulful face and soft expression, he is impossible not to fall in love with. He has the kind of face that makes you want to scoop him up, sit down, and promise him that life is finally going to be better.   Sadly, Eddie’s beginning was anything but easy.   He was rescued from a neglect and abandonment situation along with eight other dogs. They had clearly been surviving rather than truly living. Although friendly, they were frightened and unsure of the world around them. It is heartbreaking to imagine how long Eddie went without the stability, affection, and care every dog deserves.   But despite everything, this sweet boy’s spirit is shining through almost immediately.   Within a single day in foster care, Eddie has already started relaxing and showing his true personality. His foster mom says he is soaking up affection and beginning to understand that kindness is real. He has welcomed the companionship of the other dogs in the home and has quickly traded fear for hopeful little smiles and a wagging tail.   Eddie is not an overwhelming or demanding dog. He is the kind of companion who simply wants to be near his people. He is quiet, gentle, affectionate, and incredibly easy to love. Whether he is curling up beside you after a long day or trotting happily along on a walk, Eddie seems grateful for every small moment of comfort and attention.   We truly believe Eddie could fit beautifully into many different homes and lifestyles. He would make a wonderful family dog for children wanting a loyal best friend. He would thrive with a young couple looking for a devoted companion in an apartment or condo. He could also be the perfect addition to an empty-nester home where he could enjoy walks, adventures, and peaceful evenings filled with love and companionship.   What Eddie wants most is what he has likely never had — consistency, safety, and someone who will never leave him behind again.   He is fully grown, fully ready for a forever home, and fully deserving of a life filled with kindness and commitment. Somewhere out there is the family meant for Eddie, and when they find him, they are going to wonder how they ever lived without him.   To give Eddie the loving future he deserves, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 4, 2026, 1:00 pm

Story
If ever there was a dog who deserved a fresh start, it is Lil NYX. This delightful little guy has finally escaped a difficult past and is now ready to begin the happy life he has always deserved. After spending months in a shelter waiting for someone to give him a chance, NYX is now in the care of Critter Cavalry Rescue, and we are determined to make sure his next chapter is filled with love, stability, and happiness. NYX's journey has not been an easy one. Through circumstances beyond his control, he found himself waiting in a shelter while his future remained uncertain. During that time, three different families expressed interest in adopting him, only to have their plans change. Each disappointment left shelter staff heartbroken because everyone who met NYX quickly fell in love with him. He was a favorite among the staff, who knew what a special dog he truly is. When he was finally cleared to move on and become available for adoption, there was genuine celebration among those who had been rooting for him all along. At just one year old and weighing 24 pounds, NYX is the perfect size for almost any home. He appears to have some Corgi and perhaps a little Beagle in his background, giving him an irresistibly adorable look to match his wonderful personality. He is a quiet dog who is not prone to barking, and he has proven himself to be easygoing, affectionate, and eager to please. He gets along beautifully with other dogs, enjoys children, walks well on a leash, is crate trained, and is already housebroken. With the exception of wanting to chase a cat his overall temperament is friendly, playful, and incredibly loving. The truth is that we struggle to find anything negative to say about this sweet boy. NYX has all the qualities people hope to find in a companion dog. He is the kind of loyal friend who will happily share your adventures, curl up beside you at the end of the day, and fill your home with joy and companionship. After everything he has been through, he deserves a family that will never let him down again.NYX is ready right now to leave his past behind and run straight into the life he was always meant to have. If you would like to learn more about him, ask questions, or request an adoption application, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com. We have a feeling that the family lucky enough to adopt Lil NYX will wonder how they ever lived without him. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.June 4, 2026, 1:00 pm

Story
Lady Lucy – Sweet Survivor  Some dogs have a way of capturing your heart the moment you meet them, and Lady Lucy is certainly one of those dogs. Though her past appears to have been filled with uncertainty, she has emerged from it with a gentle spirit, a loving heart, and an unwavering belief that good things are still ahead. Lady Lucy was one of nine dogs discovered living in a remote wooded area of Middle Tennessee after they were apparently abandoned when their owner fell on difficult times. No one knows exactly how long they survived on their own, but their situation touched the hearts of many rescue volunteers who came together to help. With patience, food, water, and kindness, the dogs were gradually brought to safety. Rescue groups across the region stepped forward to help, and Critter Cavalry Rescue was fortunate enough to welcome Lady Lucy into its care. From the moment she arrived, it was clear that Lucy had once known the comforts of a home. She settled in beautifully and quickly showed everyone what a wonderful companion she is. At just over a year old and weighing 32 pounds, Lucy is the perfect size for a family looking for a smaller dog with a big heart. She appears to be a delightful mix of Corgi and Beagle, though her most remarkable feature is her personality. She is affectionate, gentle, and full of love, with the easygoing nature often found in hound breeds. Whether she's relaxing beside you on the couch or quietly following you from room to room, Lucy simply wants to be close to her people. She is fully grown, crate trained, housebroken, and has excellent manners in the home. Lucy currently lives successfully with other dogs and does very well in an active household with teenagers, but she has made it clear that she would not mind having a little less competition for attention. After all she has been through, we think she would happily embrace a life where she can enjoy a bit more of the spotlight and receive the princess treatment she believes is rightfully hers. Lady Lucy has a way of looking into your eyes that makes you feel like you've known each other forever. She is the kind of dog who forms deep bonds, offers unwavering companionship, and fills a home with warmth and comfort. Her difficult past has not diminished her capacity to love; if anything, it seems to have made her even more appreciative of every kindness she receives. Now all that remains is for the right family to find her. Lady Lucy is packed and ready for her next adventure, with an open heart and a hopeful spirit. She is ready to leave her difficult past behind and begin the life she has always deserved with a family who will cherish her as the special girl she truly is. To learn more about Lady Lucy or to request an adoption application, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.

✅Currently located in South Korea✅️💟Available to fly to JFK/EWR💟The prices listed are based on USD, and the adoption fee will be calculated in CAD according to the exchange rate.Meet Victor❤️💙 Victor's News Account: @jjamooong._1.) Health Condition Spayed. Microchipped, negative for heartworm upon retest (treatment complete) and dental scaling completed. Due to a small fracture in her right molars and tartar buildup, special care is taken to brush her teeth.2.) Rescue Story Victor was rescued by an Adogs volunteer while she was tied up tightly in a gravel lot. When found, she had clearly been neglected for a long time — food that had gone bad was piled next to her, and she looked frightened. But as soon as she felt safe, she wagged her tail and approached.3.) Basic Information With People: Gets along well with strangers as long as they don’t rush or approach in a threatening manner. Becomes affectionate if you approach and give her love. Acts cute and flops down comfortably when being petted by familiar people. Loves cuddling close to people. If you come home, she will hurry out to welcome you warmly. Is reactive with people who are running towards her, but she quickly stops if you tell her no. With Dogs: Gets along well with her foster family’s dog. Previously, she got overstimulated when seeing other dogs on walks but through training, she now calms down quickly and focuses on treats. Growls at first when she meets a dog at a dog friendly cafe, but stays still when they keep their distance. Is possessive of toys and sometimes tries to threaten other dogs when they play with her toy. Is getting training to fix this behaviour. With Cats: Although she growls at cats on walks, she stops quickly and passes by if you tell her to go. Separation Anxiety: Experiences anxiety when left alone, barking and scratching at the door. Does not feel separation anxiety when with other dogs or strangers though. Potty Training: Is very good with using pee pads. However, she remembers the first spot it was placed, so consistency in pad location is key. Prefers to go outside if possible and marks with her pee only when outside. Hygiene: Does excellently with baths and toothbrushing, and enjoys brushing. Does not like having her ears cleaned, so mouths at her foster parent’s hand as a warning without biting. Is very afraid of nail clipping, so it’s mostly handled through walks. Walks: Gets aggressive when birds or cats pass by. On days when she’s feeling irritable, she lunges with overstimulation and doesn't calm down when she sees other dogs. But on good days, she immediately refocuses on her guardian upon being called. Tends to pull on the leash hard only when other dogs are around or if she’s in a rush to potty. Is reluctant to go for walks on dark or cold days. Car Sickness: No motion sickness during a two-hour drive. Caution is required as there may be defensive (warning) biting if she is suddenly pushed to the side, if someone puts their face too close, if picked up abruptly, if bothered when she is already tired, or during ear cleaning. Doesn’t bark even at strangers outside the door as long as they don’t ring the doorbell. Barks briefly when family returns to home. Loves food very much. While this used to lead to some sensitivity (resource guarding) around her foster sibling, this behavior has improved significantly. Doesn’t like being bothered. Is okay with her foster sibling, but doesn’t like other dogs. Understands commands such as 'Sit down', 'Lie down', 'Turn', 'Nose', 'V', 'Paw', 'Wait', and 'Kiss'! Is a cutie pie that loves people. However, she has an independent side and dislikes being bothered too much.

Story
This is the face of a senior who doesn’t understand why he’s homeless 😞 Meet Jorge. His owner was frantically driving around with him looking for a shelter to take him immediately, refusing to bring him back home because he snapped at them that morning trying to put his harness on when he wanted to be left alone. His owners had been having some changes in their living situation and health issues and it was just too much to continue to care for him. We were expecting the worst of him but he’s actually more of a sad scared boy than feisty and evil, and he tried really hard to show that he wasn’t comfortable being cornered and really didn’t like that harness. He’s been fine with other dogs and cooperative with us, picks up a routine quickly and likes having access to a fenced yard better than having to be walked. But he’s a pretty easy guy overall for the right home and doesn’t want to make waves and he’s been used to living with other dogs in the past. He’s about 12 years old, a chunky 20lbs and looks like a giant chihuahua, or a corgi on stilts, or a toy shepherd/husky mix 🤷‍♀️, neutered, updated on shots and in pretty good shape for his age overall. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Jorge in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
