Alfie is a sweet little Chihuahua/Corgi mix. He was surrendered by his family because they were moving. He has been in the shelter, but he has found a foster home for now. He would make a great addition to any family. He prefers women to men. He is not a barker. He is shy initially but then he loves to cuddle and he is a sweet, sweet boy. He loves his food. And his chew rawhides and others.He is in a foster home with other senior dogs and special needs dogs and he is doing wonderful. He cuddles with the fosters . Meet Merlin! This funny quirky 2 year old mix was surrendered when his owner was relocating. He had not been to a vet (ever?!), was covered in some kind of weird healing scabs that his owners said was a reaction to some new shampoo?, and was a bit thin but his skin has healed up nicely and he’s put on weight. He gets nervous at first and picks and chooses his friends, but warms up fast and dances around for attention. He is obsessed with squeaky toys, walks nicely on a leash, and is fine with other dogs and could live with or without them in a home. He was said to be a Maltese mix? Though he looks more like an eskie/pom mix or oversized longhair chihuahua. Merlin is 13lbs (probably should be about 15), has been vetted, neutered, updated on shots, and is ready for a home. This is the face of a senior who doesn’t understand why he’s homeless 😞 Meet Jorge. His owner was frantically driving around with him looking for a shelter to take him immediately, refusing to bring him back home because he snapped at them that morning trying to put his harness on when he wanted to be left alone. His owners had been having some changes in their living situation and health issues and it was just too much to continue to care for him. We were expecting the worst of him but he’s actually more of a sad scared boy than feisty and evil, and he tried really hard to show that he wasn’t comfortable being cornered and really didn’t like that harness. He’s been fine with other dogs and cooperative with us, picks up a routine quickly and likes having access to a fenced yard better than having to be walked. But he’s a pretty easy guy overall for the right home and doesn’t want to make waves and he’s been used to living with other dogs in the past. He’s about 12 years old, a chunky 20lbs and looks like a giant chihuahua, or a corgi on stilts, or a toy shepherd/husky mix 🤷‍♀️, neutered, updated on shots and in pretty good shape for his age overall. Meet Denton, the sweetest little old man with a heart full of love and a story that will melt yours. Left behind at a boarding facility, Denton was sadly abandoned at 10 years old, but his spirit remains gentle and kind. We think he’s part Corgi, and although his cloudy eyes make him bump into things now and then, his love for life is still bright! Denton is well-behaved, quiet, and loves nothing more than to snuggle with his humans. He’s working on house training and is making great progress with regular breaks. This senior sweetheart doesn’t ask for much—just a peaceful home, a cozy bed, and a kind hand to guide him through his golden years. Denton does great on gentle walks and enjoys the fresh air, which is perfect for keeping his joints moving. He’s calm around other dogs, could care less about cats, and is simply happy to be by your side. Denton is looking for a home to fill with warmth and unconditional love. We have a dog that likes to steal potatoes (see Vodka's post), and now we are getting dog that's named Potato! Potato is a male, purebred Corgie. We don't know much about him yet other than he's very sweet and good with children. On of our Texas partners will be picking him up this week and we will post more updates as we learn more about him. Potato is an owner surrender. They report no problems with him, they just don't have the time to own a dog right now. Potato will be seen by a vet and given his vaccinations. He can come to NJ on the next transport if adopted.
