Story
Adopt Bella🎀 Bella, our corgi-pit mix is still on the market for her forever family🏠 Since having Bella in the rescue we've learned a lot about her. She's a total love bug, she enjoys walks and then naps immediately after, and she's obedient and learns quickly. 📝 At about five years old Bella is house trained, UTD on her shots and would make a wonderful addition to a family. Bella, with her unique body and fun personality, would need to be your one and only but we know that she is all you'll need. Did we mention she's a pint sized princess, perfect for an apartment or small space?❤️ When Bella is excited she hops around like an adorable little chocolate Easter bunny with her little legs that get lost among tall grass. 🐰 She has a medium energy level and would be best with kids 8 and up, people who are home often would be her dream family. She will do best as the only pet. If you are interested in this small princess then get your application in. Apply at pittiesandpals.com

Story
Hi, my name is Coco! I'm a cute boy that is curious of the world. I’m two and a half years old. I love people very much and whenever I walk down the street, there are always people who want to play with me. But I'm so scared of other dogs that I need to bark at them to let them leave me alone. I'm well-behaved and I will just fall asleep if nobody plays with me. If I'm bored, I will hand over my toys to you and lean my head towards you to beg you to play with me. I enjoy delicious food and I love having my meal without interruption. I never played with small kids before, but maybe someone can give me a chance. Mike is relocating and he cannot bring me there because of lots of reasons. I hope someone with experience can give me a forever home. I am ready for the new life. I’m neutered, up to date on everything! I hope you ask about me!!!

Story
21 lbs, 2 years, Corgi mix, Spayed Female Want to adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Their Foster Parent Says: "Pom is such a special girl! She's super low maintenance and self-sufficient—no accidents in the house, has no problem being left alone, very quiet, great on a leash, and gets along with every dog and human she's interacted with. It seems like she hasn't had consistent access to food, so she likes to eat in private. She also doesn't seem used to attention from people, so it's been really nice to watch her warm up to us and get familiar with a life full of love, walks, and treats. She almost seems a little shell shocked when we show her affection, like she can't quite believe her luck! Whoever ends up adopting Pom will be the luckiest—she's such a unique, old soul and we're so excited to continue helping her along her journey to the comfortable, happy life she deserves." Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy level MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Cuddle bug level:  Lower- - Loves affection but doesn't need to be on top of you 24/7/  Potty trained? Yes - - Pom is fully potty trained  Comfy with strangers?Yes - - Fine with meeting new people but not particularly interested, kind of shy in busy social situations like a gathering or a packed day in the park. Comfortable with children? (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)Yes - - Okay for a home with respectful kids aged 8 and up.  Social with other dogs?Yes - - Loves other dogs. Currently in a home with another dog and doing great with this.  Respectful of other small animals? (cats, pocket pets, etc.)Not Sure - - But we think she would be okay in a home with a cat based on her temperament  Mouthy behavior:Past this stage in her life - - Very respectful with her mouth  Leash Manners? Old Pro – Seems like a dog that has been on leash before. Doesn’t pull hard or need much direction.  Okay in the city? Yes — Seems unfazed by the sights and sounds, they may as well have been born here. Jumping on People to Say Hi? Medium – Jumps up only on people the dog knows when really excited. Stops with corrections. Separation Anxiety?  Nope - does fine being left home alone  Crate training?  Not at all – Don’t even have one, I’ve puppy proofed and we free range. Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though! This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc --

Story
5 years, 35lbs, Corgi/Terrier Mix, Neutered - NEEDS TO LOOSE ABOUT 8 LBS  This dog is joining Social Tees on 4/13 and is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program starting that day. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Level of dog ownership experience needed: INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained?  Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?  Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision) We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.  Okay in the city?  We don’t know yet. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Medical status Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees: Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old).
