She was found as a tiny baby walking by the high way, she was full of fleas and ticks and was not healthy. She did not know how to even be a puppy! She is now so happy and so healthy and ready to have a happy ever after! She is great with other dogs, cats and kids! She is utd on her vaccines, utd on flea & tick meds, microchipped and dewormed! He still has some of that puppy energy and loves playing with his toys, but will also calm down and relax on the rug near your feet or wander into his crate for a nap. He is adapting well to the city and loves meeting new people. Sometimes he may need to be discouraged from jumping on them enthusiastically! He is less sure about other dogs, so introductions should be made with caution. Irwin is fully house trained, crate trained, and is not destructive in the home. He would do best with an adopter who has leash training experience and will commit to working with him on this so he can become his most awesome self!" She quickly became my little shadow, happily following me from room to room just to keep me company. Wherever you are in the house, Selma wants to be nearby—usually curled up beside you or perfectly tucked into a cozy little ball on the couch or bed. She is an absolute cuddle bug and will never turn down a belly rub. She’s done wonderfully with our resident dog and cat. She was definitely curious about the cat at first, but quickly learned to coexist peacefully. Outside, she can be a little shy around other dogs, but she handled our grumpy, loud 12-year-old pug like a total pro. In fact, she’s been incredibly quiet overall—she hasn’t barked once all weekend.Selma walks very nicely on a leash and does great walking side-by-side with our dog. The busy sounds of the city are still a little new for her, but she’s already getting braver and I’m confident she’ll grow more comfortable with time. She’s also pretty particular about where she likes to go to the bathroom, so it sometimes takes a little patience while she finds the perfect spot. A home with easier access to grass would probably make her very happy. Her mornings are the cutest—she wakes up full of energy and zoomies, then happily heads out for a walk. When we come back, she sprints up the stairs and zooms around the apartment like she just won a race. She also entertains herself by tossing her toys up in the air and pouncing on them. Despite those playful bursts, she’s generally a calm, relaxed girl who loves to nap the day away near her people. One of the sweetest things about Selma is how gentle she is with treats—she delicately balances them across her paws and nibbles them like a little snack connoisseur. She listens well when you say “no” or “stop,” and while she’s still learning commands like “sit,” she’s clearly eager to please. Selma would thrive in a home where someone can spend a good amount of time with her. She loves companionship, cozy naps, and moderate walks, but she isn’t a dog who needs hours of exercise. She’s just a gentle, affectionate girl with a huge heart who wants to love and be loved. Anyone lucky enough to adopt Selma will quickly discover what a special companion she is."
