Howdy from Texas. My name is Rusty, and I’m a very handsome 8-year-old, 16 lb, red wire-haired Dachshund mix, ready to hitch my wagon to an East Coast star! I was dumped in San Antonio, followed a man home who was walking his dog, and was invited to stay until my family was found. Unfortunately, nobody claimed me, and I had no identification. No biggie… I was posted on NexDoor, and 4 Little Paws reached out to take me. Now I’m living in a foster home, safe and sound, and having some fun while getting ready to find a forever home. I am now neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and I also had my teeth cleaned. I’m ready to meet you with a big smile, showing off my pearly whites! First and foremost, I’m a dog owner's dream. Cool, calm, and collected, I am friendly to all, quiet and well-behaved, housebroken, and sweet as can be! I adore people and laps, LOL! If you are looking for a lap dog, I’m your guy! It breaks our hearts to write this, but we are looking to rehome our very loved 5-year-old dachshund due to family health reasons. She is fully potty trained, well-mannered indoors, and has been a cherished part of our family. Unfortunately, after welcoming our newborn, our baby developed allergies, and with another baby on the way, we’ve had to make this incredibly difficult decision for everyone’s well-being. She does have a moderate skin condition that is manageable with routine care and attention. She is otherwise healthy and happy. Personality-wise, she is sweet, loyal, and very attached to her people. She would thrive in a calm home where she can receive plenty of love and attention. This decision comes purely out of love and responsibility. Should avoid being fed fatty foods. 2⃣ Rescue Story * Rumi had stayed at the Gimje City Shelter for over two years after giving birth to puppies, living in a cramped space. Afterwards, she was placed on the euthanasia list, so Adogs quickly rescued her. 3⃣ Basic Information * With People: Is scared and fearful of people. Still tends to get scared even with familiar people, but wags her tail and gets excited when she sees the person who takes her for walks. * With Dogs: Gets along with other dogs at our center with no issues. * Separation Anxiety: Unclear since she’s living communally at our center. * Potty Training: Not confirmed as she resides communally at our center. Is currently going potty outdoors at our center. * Walks: Is a well-behaved walker who enjoys being outside and does not pull on the leash. May initially feel a bit intimidated and sit down after a few steps to scan the surroundings. Once adjusted to the environment, she walks forward confidently. * Car Sickness: Had no problems and rested during short car rides. * Biting: May growl at times, but calmly accepts being touched. While the growling is a sign of being fearful of people, she has never shown any aggressive behavior, such as nipping or putting teeth on skin. * Bark: Is still afraid of people and growls out of fear when making eye contact with them. * Like: Likes going for walks.
