Story
Got him as a puppy. He has been such an amazing dog. He absolutely loves cuddling and does not leave your side. He loves being loved. He walks great on a leash and loves to carry packages and mail back home. He is great with other dogs, at dog parks he’d rather be sitting next to you instead of playing with the rest of the dogs. We brought home our baby in August and he has been very protective of him but does not allow my husband, family, or friends around the baby. I hate to rehome him as I’ve had since he was a puppy but my husband is tired of being barked at every time he’s around the baby.

Prince is a sweet and loyal Chiweenie (Dachshund Chihuahua mix) born on December 29, 2018, making him 6 years old. He’s a house-trained, well-mannered dog who loves going for walks, playing, and then curling up for snuggles. Prince is the perfect mix of playful energy and laid-back. Always ready for fun, but just as happy to relax with his people. He weighs about 22lbs, making him the ideal size for both outdoor adventures and cozy lap time. Prince is up-to-date on vaccines and in good health. He’s food-motivated, eager to learn, and thrives on attention and companionship. His gentle nature and loyalty make him a wonderful fit for someone seeking a true best friend. Prince is looking for a forever family that can give him the love and daily attention he deserves. Story
Basil – ID 16209 – Kennel 305 Dachshund mix – tan and white – male – approx 15 years old – 13 lb – neutered – up to date on vaccines – heartworm negative – house trained – dog friendly – good with children – arrived Jan 7 Basil is a poor, sweet senior boy whose heart has been broken. After spending his entire life—about 15 loyal years—in the same home, Basil was brought to the shelter when the people he thought were his family said they were moving and he could not go. Everything he had ever known disappeared in an instant, and now this gentle soul waits in a kennel, confused and longing for comfort. Despite the upheaval he’s experienced, Basil remains incredibly sweet. He is house trained, good with other dogs, and gentle with children. At just 13 lb, he’s an easy little companion who is used to being part of a family and sharing quiet moments with the people he loves. Senior dogs like Basil struggle deeply in the shelter environment. He doesn’t understand why he’s here—he only knows that he misses having a home. Basil urgently needs a loving place to land where he can feel safe again, rest peacefully, and be cherished for the rest of his days. If you have room in your heart for a senior who has given a lifetime of loyalty and love, Basil is waiting. He deserves comfort, kindness, and his real forever family after losing everything he’s ever known. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.

Story
Jaid came to DREAM after her owners never returned for her while staying with neighbor. She’s a sweet little gal looking for a place to land and a lap to cuddle on. We know very little about her past (not even her age-its just a guess) but we have followed some clues that lead us to believe she’s had back surgery in the past. She walks just fine and to the untrained eye she walks with an adorable swish. She has had all her regular vetting (shots, tests, spay) and also some imaging. She was having some issues and scanned showed cystitis and she is being treated for that. Don’t let all that medical talk fool ya, this gal is got spunk and is living out loud with many years left to share her passion for taking in all life has to give. If you are interested in adopting Jaid, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Jaid's adoption fee is $500. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Jaid will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter
