Story
Midnight ended up at animal control after his owners abandoned him at a clinic. He was held for a while but with so many dogs he ended up on the euthanasia list. Can you imagine? This little guy is a very nice dog with a great temperament. He loves to hang with his people way more than the other dogs at his foster home so he could be an only dog or live with the other canines that have a chill temperament His foster family believe he is mixed with corgi or other herding breed because he has a habit of jumping and mouthing to get attention. Midnight is not really a vocal dog. But when he has something to say it is in a a "Big Dog" bark but the good news is he's not a huge barker unless he's excited about something. Midnight sleeps quietly in a crate like a gentleman. Midnight is completely potty trained. He no longer takes any medicine for anything but when he did he took it like a champ. He loves to chase a ball and bring it back to you to throw again. He loves to go for loooooooong leash walks. He needs a home with people that will dedicate time to his daily walks. This guy absolutely loves to explore the back yard and will definitely need a fenced yard. He is working on waiting but still is a BIG Door Darter. He is very excited to GO, GO, GOI! A home with adults and everyone over 16yrs is needed so he doesn’t sneak out past a kiddo. ✅ Sweet guy ✅ loves to walk & play with toys ✅ crate trained 🚫 door dasher so no young kiddos ✅ housetrained ✅ smart and eager to learn ✅ fenced yard If you are interested in adopting Midnight, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Midnight's adoption fee is $500. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Midnight will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter

Story
Boscoe has a number of talents and his foster mom calls him a smart Houdini. He quickly figured out how to open pocket doors to get into another room. He will push doors open if they are not latched. He prefers to stay within sight of his person. He is an all star snuggler and we are sure he will pass the snuggles certification exam with flying colors. 😉 Boscoe had been training using pads and is now about 85% house trained especially when his cues are picked up and he’s let outside for a potty break. He definitely needs a secure fenced yard as he likes to explore and looks for ways to escape. He's not shown any signs of being a digger but he has shown tendencies to be a door darter. Boscoe is very athletic and can jump up quite high. He really loves being around people and can have some separation anxiety but is getting better. He's good with dogs and people but much prefers his people over another dog. Boscoe does NOT like to be crated and will chew the metal on the crate as his anxiety escalates being in there. He usually has something to say and lets his voice be heard if he isn’t feeling secure. His foster mom says he has settled in and she thinks he had a hard time adjusting to a new environment because he wasn’t around many different people and situations before coming to DREAM. If you are interested in adopting Boscoe, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Boscoe's adoption fee is $700. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Story
If you are looking for the stereotypical dachshund-intelligent, silly, snuggly, a bit bossy, Velcro and a ride or die dog then Minnie is your dog! Minnie came to DREAM after her family was unable to care for her. She had extensive medical needs that were much needed and over due. DREAM had her spay, brought up to date with vaccines and had to have surgery to remove a number of mammary tumors. Luckily the veterinarian was able to remove the masses and she is expected to enjoy many more years. Minnie is a funny little dog just looking for a human to call her own. She loves snuggling with her humans and demands belly rubs. She’s a sun goddess who relishes a good roll in her back in the sun. Just check out her video! She does ok with other small dogs but really prefers the company of people over canines for companionship. She wants nothing more than her humans adoration, their complete attention and maybe a few snacks 😉 She is house trained and enjoys going for walks and rides in the car. She sleeps in a crate but really loves to nap with her people on the couch or bed. She’s a pro at blanket burrowing. Like many dachshunds, Minnie believes that she calls the shots & grumble if another dog invades her space but she is fickle because she also enjoys cuddling up to other small dogs. Because of this, Minnie would do best in an adult only home. She is devoted to her people and loves both her foster mom and dad fiercely. Minnie announces any new guests when they arrive at the door-read this as “she barks”; but is learning that just a few barks will suffice as an announcement. She is food motivated and she’s a quick study. If you are looking for that classic wiener dog, Minnie is your dog! Story
Clarabell came to DREAM after her owners could not afford to care for her. She was covered in fleas and had loss much of her hair from the infestation. Once the fleas were treated and she was in a clean environment her hair has begun to gown back quickly. In addition to the fleas, Clarabell had bladder stones and she had a cystotomy to remove these painful growths. She’s no longer in pain and will remain free of further stones by being kept on a prescription diet readily available. Unfortunately in addition to her other medical needs she is heartworm positive. She has begun her treatment but can be adopted and complete her treatment in her forever home. Clarabell is a silly girl who loves toys and belly rubs. She is crate trained, house trained and enjoys going for rides in the car and belly rubs. If you are interested in adopting Clarabell, you can fill out an application right on our website! Story
Dapples wandered into a yard with multiple cuts and scrapes. A Good Samaritan took her in and contacted DREAM after no owner was found. From her condition, she had not had much care in the past. She was underweight and had a mouth full of infection. She’s had some much needed dental care and quality groceries. The Veterinarian estimated her age to be 10 but she’s got many miles left on her paws and this little gal is ready to begin her new life. Dachshunds are an intelligent breed and Dapples fits that description perfectly. She’s a smart cookie but she has a strong desire for what “she wants”. So she needs an experience Doxie owner that knows how to provide loving structure to reinforce good behaviors and redirect undesirable behaviors. With clear, consistent and patience she does beautifully. For example she is unsure of new people and will bark BUT, if the introduction is slow and her foster dad holds her, she becomes confident and calm, and the barking is avoided and makes friends. Once she knows you, she’s a major snuggler. She'd love to sleep in your bed, but she sleeps in a crate next to the human bed, and she seems fine with that as well after a short whine until the lights are turned off. She is fully house-trained. She'll make a different pitch whine while in her crate if she needs to go potty. She has a good appetite and is quite food-motivated, which comes in handy for training. Dapples exhibits some insecurity but loves positive words and hearing her name being called in a happy voice. Just look at her wagging her tail in the video. She has never offered to bite, but she was a bit jealous at first of her foster sibling getting the shared attention. They now are snuggle buddies. She just needs a bit of time to get comfortable. We think she'd do best in a home with No small children. She would do well with another canine companion, but she will need to be reassured that there is love enough for all. She loves to go for walks. She loves digging in the mulch bed and basking in the backyard sunning herself. ✅ Yard ✅ Other dog 🚫 Kids ✅ Quiet home ✅ Housetrained If you are interested in adopting Dapples, you can fill out an application right on our website!
