Story
Patti is 3 yrs and 7 months old and follows my every step. Patti is 10 1/2 lbs but she's so tiny!
Patti was surrendered to a vet clinic after she became unable to walk. She was diagnosed with IVDD- InterVertebral Disc Disease. This disease is found in short legged breeds is a condition where the cushioning discs between the spine's bones bulge or burst, pressing on the spinal cord. This disease can be treated and many dogs go on to live a happy, full life. Please read up before adding a dachshund to your family: https://dodgerslist.com/
Patti is getting the full treatment (minus surgery). She's getting gym sessions, laser, and hydro sessions. The underwater treadmill is really helping her regain some mobility. Her foster mom gives her sessions every day with an Assisi Loop to help with inflammation and pain. She is doing very well with her recovery and is regaining her mobility with each passing day.
There are signs that Patti must have had some adventures before coming to DREAM. Her tail is crooked at the end. Whatever happened, she’s not telling and the good news is it doesn't bother her in the least, and certainly doesn't keep her from a constant tail wag. Patti is such a happy little girl who loves, loves, loves to chew and squeak toys that she loves destroying. She’s all about FUN!
Patti was not house trained when coming to DREAM but has been a quick study and she’s happy to do all her business outside and looks for her reward treat from her foster mom.
Patti is looking for an adopter who will:
•continue her physical therapy for recovery
•reinforce going outside to do her business
•be a toy manager to assure no unauthorized ingestion of stuffing and squeakers
•share all the cuddles and provide endless ball throwing for fetch sessions
Patti will make a wonderful companion for someone. She's the whole package...... sweet, beautiful, tiny, loving, loyal, has great recall, and gets along with other small dogs. Now that she's gotten the hang of potty training she's a pretty much perfect little girl!
If you are interested in adopting Patti, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Patti’s adoption fee is $700.
All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Patti Cake will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed.
Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit.
DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia.
Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part.
DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
