Story
✨ Meet Carol — Professional Lap Warmer & Fetch Champion ✨ Name: Carol Age: 3 years Weight: 17 lbs (working on her summer bod 😅) Breed Guess: Chihuahua / Dachshund mix (with a little mystery sprinkled in) Personality Snapshot: Carol is the best of both worlds — playful and fun when it’s time to play, and an absolute cuddle bug when it’s time to relax. She loves toys, adores fetch, and will happily melt into your lap for belly scritches anytime you offer them (or don’t… she’ll remind you). Cute Quirk: If there were a competition for Velcro dogs, Carol would take first place, second place, and the trophy home. She needs to be touching her person at all times. Personal space? She’s never heard of it. Not-So-Great Habits: She can be a little possessive of toys with other dogs and has discovered that digging under fences is, unfortunately, very fun. Supervised yard time and a secure fence are important for this little escape artist. Training Worked On: ✔️ Knows basic commands like sit and off ✔️ Excellent recall inside the fence ✔️ Even came when called after a fence escape (gold star, Carol ⭐) Leash Manners: Needs work — just getting started on this, but she’s smart and food-motivated House Trained: Yes! Uses the dog door beautifully and will whine if it’s closed Crate Manners: Excellent — may need a little nudge going in, but settles quietly Door Dasher: Improving Jumper: Yes — when begging for love or snacks Counter Surfer: No (a true lady) Energy Level: Medium — zoomies in the yard, couch potato inside Motivation: Food and praise Dog-Friendly: Does well with other dogs who respect her space and aren’t overly pushy With New People: Extremely friendly with everyone — human lover through and through Car Manners: Nervous but calm Favorite Things: Toys, blankets, laps, and all the belly scritches Best Home Scenario: A calm-ish home would be ideal, but honestly Carol is adaptable and could fit beautifully into many households. She just wants love, routine, and a human to Velcro herself to. Fence Needs: A physical fence strongly preferred (we know why 😅) 🐾 Adoption Info: All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption. Our requirements are non-negotiable and include the following: All current pets in the home must be spayed or neutered if over 6 months of age, unless there is a documented medical exemption with veterinary confirmation. All current dogs must be up to date on Rabies and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP) vaccinations. All current dogs must be on consistent, consecutive heartworm prevention. Past dogs listed on the application must also show a consecutive history of heartworm prevention. To start the adoption process, please fill out our application here: 👉 https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/WAG/Dog Please also take a moment to read our requirements located in the application. Please note: The dog you’re applying for might already have a meet-and-greet scheduled, be on a trial with another family, or has been offered to another rescue within our network. Don’t worry though — we’re always happy to help you find another great match if that happens! Our goal is to make sure every pup ends up in the best home for their needs (and yours too!).

Story
🐾 BISCUIT 🐾 4-year-old Dachshund Mix | 17 lbs A loyal little companion looking for his person. 🧩 At a Glance Age: 4 years Weight: 17 lbs Breed: Dachshund Mix Energy Level: Low Motivation: Food 💛 Who Biscuit Is Biscuit is a calm, steady little dog who thrives in a low-key environment and forms strong, lasting bonds with his people. He appreciates predictable routines and a peaceful home, and once he’s connected to you, he becomes a deeply loyal and devoted companion. He has a clear preference for men and tends to form his strongest bond with a male person, though he does well with women too. 🏠 Training & Habits Potty trained: ✅ Yes Crate trained: ✅ Yes Uses his crate as his safe space Self-regulates well and will put himself in his crate when he needs quiet time Responds to “crate” / “kennel” 🐶 With Other Dogs Biscuit loves other dogs and is very much the lowest on the totem pole. He shows affection through enthusiastic face licking, which not all dogs enjoy. The good news: this behavior is very correctable — he respects human redirection well and responds when a person steps in to say it’s time to give space. Because of his affectionate style, he would do best with: A tolerant dog who doesn’t mind his friendliness Possibly a dog his own size once comfortable He is still learning canine social cues and isn’t quite fluent in “dude, get out of my face.” 🦮 Leash & Containment Leash: ❌ Very fearful — not leash-ready Door dasher: ⚠️ Yes, especially to reach his favorite person Has attempted to climb a 3-foot chain link fence to reach his foster dad ➡️ Secure physical fence required (taller than 3 feet recommended) 🚗 Car Rides Car rides make him nervous. He prefers to sit in a lap for comfort. 🏡 Ideal Home Quiet, low-chaos household Male adopter preferred or someone open to a strong one-on-one bond Secure fenced yard 🐾 Adoption Info: All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption.
