Milky Way

American Pit Bull Terrier

Female, 3 yrs 9 mos
Cabot, AR
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Good with dogs, Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Milky Way was left behind. Abandoned. A pack of male dogs in the area consistently targeted her for breeding. She had rocks thrown at her from the neighbors. She had her face maimed. She was heartworm positive, overbred, and absolutely terrified. She was trapped and brought to the rescue. She is very slow to trust people and understandably so. She actually loves other dogs and is submissive. She does best with a large goofy playful dog. She is very slow to warm up to people and prefers to not be approached but will come to you if she wants affection. She is actually pretty happy outside but has also had some time indoors and did fine in a crate. If you can put the time and effort into bonding with her she’s worth it. Because of her trauma she will not be adopted to any home with small children just because they may forget to respect her boundaries.

Big red was one of over 30 animals pulled from a felony animal cruelty case April 12th in Jacksonville, AR. Despite being locked in a crate and living in the worst filth imaginable in an environment full of excrement and rotting carcasses Big Red is a happy loving beautiful example of resilience. He’s dog friendly and really just wants a place to lay his head. He is grateful to be in a wonderful foster home but we’d love to see him in his forever home asap so he can live out his golden years with the love and stability he has always deserved but never had.
