Archie

Great Dane Pit Bull Terrier

Male, 4 yrs 7 mos
Winchester, IL
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Archie was an unclaimed stray saved from our local pound. He is fun and goofy...LOVES to play with his ball and (in warm weather) splash in his baby pool. He's good in the house and not destructive - but he has a serious mistrust of strangers. He will warm up to them after a session of ball throwing - but would need to be heavily managed at first. He'd be a great companion and protector for a woman. For more information - call or text 217-473-9044; or email scottcountydogrescue@gmail.com.

Story
June was adopted from Paws Jacksonville in 2017 at six months old. She had been surrendered from a bad home and had many behavioral issues early on. With a lot of love and patience she has become a good house dog but does not have any hunting training. She prefers warm weather and will sun herself on the patio on a hot day. After we had our first child (now a toddler) she has developed a few jealousy and food related quirks. As of now we just do not trust her around an inquisitive toddler. She has decided she is a lap dog and spends most of her inside time asleep on the couch if a lap is not surrendered to her. She is house trained and currently runs around in a fenced yard but would welcome more space to roam.

She was recently returned because her owner said she wasn’t getting along with their other dog. She has been with us in foster care and is doing well. She has met and played with other dogs. She does need slower introductions due to the lack of socializing as a pup. She also can resource guard her toys but her foster mom is working on that and she is doing well with correction. She loves to cuddle with her humans. The Dane in her hates being cold or wet. She is very much a princess and loves to get her beauty sleep. She also loves to eat and will flip her bowl when she is hungry. More pictures to come. Can you find it in your heart to consider this big beautiful girl?

Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue adopts to qualified homes in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Wisconsin. Salem is a 3 year old black and white Great Dane. She is a petite girl. Salem came to us from a shelter where she had been for a couple of months. She was emaciated at the time. Her life has not been great but her spirit is good. She is a gentle natured girl who loves attention. This girl is so deserving of a loving forever home. In the last couple of weeks Salem has put on 8 lbs. and is looking so much healthier. She is very food motivated. She hasn’t had much training but she picked up Sit and Shake very quickly. She’s a smart girl that is eager to please. She is not crate trained. We are working on it but her separation anxiety has made it difficult. It’s a work in progress. Salem didn’t seem to really know how to interact with other dogs. Her foster siblings have been teaching her how to play. She has discovered that’s a lot of fun! She gets along well with all of the dogs she has met. People are her favorite. She knows how to get all of the affection she wants In the near future hopefully Salem will get to meet some kids to see how she interacts. Overall she’s a pretty calm girl with a laid back temperament. She would love a home with a friendly canine sibling and someone who is home with her a lot.

Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue adopts to qualified homes in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Wisconsin. Meet Tilly! Tilly is a sweet, easy-going girl with a fun personality. She is happy to be lazy or happy to be outside chasing squirrels. Tilly does need some help learning good manners on a leash but she is responsive to training so we are confident with some consistent work she'll get there. She would do well in a home by herself or with another dog, she currently has a 6 year old Great Dane foster brother that she enjoys playing with. Does your home have room for this big goofball?
