Story
My dog peaches is an amazing dog. Unfortunately I'm a single mother in the Army and I have to keep going to the field and I cannot afford putting her in boarding. Also I just wish you would have a family always with her and not always having to leave her. It breaks my heart to have to get rid of her, but I am financially unable to take care of her, due to me having to put down a lot of money I do not have for her to go into boarding when I go to the field in the army.

Story
Gertie❤️‍🩹 Gertie may have three legs, but she has a whole lot of heart. She gets along great with other dogs and cats and does just fine with respectful kids. Don’t let her tripod status fool you, she keeps up with everyone easily, and takes her role as household supervisor very seriously. Whether she’s making her rounds or settling in nearby, Gertie just wants to be part of her people’s everyday life. Gertie is a gentle soul who finds joy in life’s quiet moments. She loves long naps, sunny afternoons on the back porch, and curling up close for cuddles. She does like to keep her food and toys to herself, so feeding her separately and supervising toys around other dogs will help her feel secure and relaxed. With a little understanding, Gertie’s loving, loyal nature shines through and makes every day softer. She is ready to bring comfort, companionship, and unconditional love to a home that will cherish her just as she is. Apply for Gertie: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SDSR/Dog

Story
Fern is the definition of a perfect, spry, senior citizen. She is potty trained and does well in the car. She loves her walkies and will gladly chase squirrels out of your yard. She is 10 years young, with fantastic teefs and a heart of pure gold. When you get home, she gets so excited her whole back end wags and she picks up a stuffy and carries it around. She’s truly something special, and she loves to relax and watch tv (yes she does really watch)! She also loves other dogs and when a dog wants to play, you’ll see how young at heart she still is. Her tail never stops wagging, but she is gentle. Has lived with children and done very well. Was recently introduced to cats and while intrigued, she remained happy and curious. When her new kitty friend gave her a little “bop,” that was her que to find a spot to lay down and leave her kitty friend alone. Truly, anyone would be so lucky to have such an amazing, loyal, and easy going companion

Story
Over a year ago, Rooster arrived at Mikaela's Mutt Motel from the local animal shelter in a truly heartbreaking state: emaciated and in horrible condition. Today, Rooster is a testament to the power of love and rehabilitation—he is now thriving, loving, and incredibly affectionate! Because Rooster was starving when he first arrived at animal control, he did develop some resource-guarding behaviors. Understanding that a special dog needs special attention, we placed him on a training hold. We are thrilled to share that thanks to our amazing trainer at Twin Oaks Canine Camp, Rooster has drastically improved! He has come such a long way, transforming from a scared, resource-driven dog into the wonderful companion he is now. Rooster is a special boy who needs a special, understanding home. We are looking for an adopter or foster who can meet these specific needs: * Respect his space and boundaries (especially around high-value items). * Be someone who can also ensure that Rooster respects *their* space and boundaries in return. Consistency and clear communication are key! * A home with no children. Due to his past behaviors and size, Rooster should not be around children at any point in time. Rooster has proven to be quite social and has done well with both other dogs and cats after appropriate introductions. He has a loving heart and is ready to shower his special person with affection. We know it will take an extra special person to welcome Rooster into their life, but we have to try for this amazing dog who has overcome so much. Could you be the special home that gives Rooster the forever love and respect he deserves? If you are ready to open your heart and home to this incredible survivor, please contact us about fostering or adopting Rooster!

Story
Meet Puff! Puff is a small, tender-hearted girl with the sweetest soul. She came into our care after spending her entire life outdoors, and when her owner sadly passed away, she needed a fresh start. Everything about indoor life is new to her, but she’s learning that comfort, safety, and love are pretty amazing! Puff does best in calm, peaceful spaces where she can move at her own pace and feel secure. She does well with cats and small dogs, but large dogs can feel overwhelming for her. A quiet, slow-moving home would be her dream come true! With patience, kindness, and lots of love, Puff is already starting to blossom. She’s looking for someone who will show her that this next chapter is a good one—and she’s so ready to soak it all in.
