Story
Cypress has a lot of love to give. She is a very energetic dog and loves to play and nap. She has been to two different obedience trainers and listens very well. Unfortunately she does get along with kids very well and with our second kid on the way we can’t keep up with her and two kids. She is free to a loving home.

Story
Meet Ninja, a truly delightful dog ready to sneak her way right into your heart! This beautiful girl is a one-year-old sweetheart, and we believe she's a striking Labrador/Great Dane mix. That mix of breeds gives her the best qualities: a gentle, loving nature combined with some wonderfully long, and sometimes confusing, legs. Ninja is the definition of a gentle goofball. Watching her try to coordinate her long limbs is an endless source of entertainment! She hasn't quite figured out how to manage those long strides, which leads to some hilariously clumsy moments that will bring a smile to your face every day. She's all love, clumsy charm, and tail wags. She's an absolute dream when it comes to living with others. Ninja has done wonderfully with dogs, cats, and children, making her a fantastic addition to almost any home. Her sweet and patient demeanor shines through in every interaction. Ninja is ready to trade her foster home for a forever family where she can share her gentle spirit and her goofy antics. If you're looking for a big dog with an even bigger heart and a great sense of humor, apply to adopt Ninja today!

Story
Nearly a year ago, Rooster arrived at Mikaela's Mutt Motel from the local animal shelter in a truly heartbreaking state: emaciated and in horrible condition. Today, Rooster is a testament to the power of love and rehabilitation—he is now thriving, loving, and incredibly affectionate! Because Rooster was starving when he first arrived at animal control, he did develop some resource-guarding behaviors. Understanding that a special dog needs special attention, we placed him on a training hold. We are thrilled to share that thanks to our amazing trainer at Twin Oaks Canine Camp, Rooster has drastically improved! He has come such a long way, transforming from a scared, resource-driven dog into the wonderful companion he is now. Rooster is a special boy who needs a special, understanding home. We are looking for an adopter or foster who can meet these specific needs: * Respect his space and boundaries (especially around high-value items). * Be someone who can also ensure that Rooster respects *their* space and boundaries in return. Consistency and clear communication are key! * A home with no children. Due to his past behaviors and size, Rooster should not be around children at any point in time. Rooster has proven to be quite social and has done well with both other dogs and cats after appropriate introductions. He has a loving heart and is ready to shower his special person with affection. We know it will take an extra special person to welcome Rooster into their life, but we have to try for this amazing dog who has overcome so much. Could you be the special home that gives Rooster the forever love and respect he deserves? If you are ready to open your heart and home to this incredible survivor, please contact us about fostering or adopting Rooster!

Story
Enzo is a handsome, resilient dog whose past, while difficult, has only highlighted his incredible capacity for love and loyalty. This brave boy was surrendered to Mikaela's Mutt Motel after a concerned citizen intervened regarding his heartbreaking living conditions. For too long, Enzo knew a harsh life. He was chained to a tree with a painful metal choke collar, forced to endure freezing temperatures with nothing more than a doghouse lacking bedding or straw, frozen water, and food iced to the ground. He had known these conditions since he was a pup. Understandably, Enzo's history means he takes time to trust new people. He has learned to be cautious, but once he realizes you mean him no harm, his entire demeanor changes. Beneath the hesitation is a true best friend just waiting to emerge. When you earn his trust, you will gain a devoted companion for life. Enzo has shown he does well with other dogs. However, due to his past resource guarding and need for security, he must be fed separately from any canine companions to ensure a peaceful mealtime for everyone. This boy is very smart, highly food-motivated, and eager to please his humans. This makes him a fantastic candidate for positive reinforcement training! He will thrive in a home where he can learn new tricks and tasks, which will build his confidence and strengthen your relationship. Enzo is looking for a patient, understanding adopter who is committed to showing him what a safe and comfortable home truly feels like. He needs a family who will give him the time and space to decompress and earn his trust slowly, without pressure. In return, you will be rewarded with the unwavering devotion of a dog who appreciates every kindness shown to him. A home where he can continue his positive reinforcement training will help him blossom! Are you ready to open your heart and home to this deserving survivor and witness his amazing transformation?
