Story
I adopted her when she was 3 months old. That was just a little over 2 years ago. She was hard to train but I did my best. I work long hours so it's hard to give her the attention and exercise she needs. She doesn't get along with my other dog, mostly it's food aggression. I keep them in separate parts of the house when I'm not home. Don't adopt her if you already have a dog. Needs to be someone's only dog. Not sure if she would be ok with a cat. She's very affectionate and loving toward humans.

Story
She's 14. I've had her for 7 years. She doesn't get along with my other dog, so I keep them separate when I'm not home. I work long hours, and she can't wait that long to go to the bathroom anymore. In her old age she deserves better care than I can give her

Story
* RUGER IS NOT AT UPAWS *Ruger is an 8 year old German Shepherd. He is the best adventure buddy, and lives for the outdoors, hiking, running, the lake, and snow especially. His favorites are sticks and tug a war, could happily play fetch all day. Ruger loves people, any chance to hangout with you on the couch, or outside he is there. He rides well in the car, not reactive to loud noises/storms. Good with younger children, teens, young adults. Has not been around cats before. He is good with dogs as long as they have been introduced properly. After a good exercise, he is a relaxed guy who just wants to be near you!If interested please contact Chloe at 734-790-8380 or chloeselkhoury@gmail.com!

Story
Josie is a friendly, athletic young heeler mix. She loves people and dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes. Josie is house trained, crate trained, and rides well in the car loose, or in her crate. She knows basic obedience commands, walks well on a leash, and stays close by when she`s off-leash. Josie is very food and toy motivated, and LOVES to play fetch! Anyone interested in adopting her should be okay with a dog who frequently plops a ball in their lap and stares at them, waiting for the ball to be tossed. That said, if you ignore the stare, after a few minutes, Josie will leave the ball alone (unless you touch it!) and go lay down. We currently own 3 small dogs, all of which were here before Josie was adopted. One of the small dogs has a heart condition, and Josie has proven to be too much for them on a daily basis. She is not an aggressive dog by any means, but she constantly wants to play, and she is rowdy with the little dogs. We own another older Cattle Dog mix who gets along well with Josie, and when she gets too rough with him he puts her in her place. She accepts these corrections from our older Cattle Dog well, but doesn`t take the little dogs` complaints seriously, and for this reason she shouldn`t be in a home with small dogs or cats. Josie is up to date on all vaccinations and is already spayed. She is a fun dog who is great to travel with and loves the company of people and other dogs. More pictures and videos are available upon request. Modest rehoming fee and a veterinary reference will be required for anyone interested in adopting her. Thank you for your interest!***Josie is not at Upaws***If you`re interested in meeting Josie please contact RonniePhone number: 906-280-2311Email: rnnbingham@gmail.com

Story
Dutch is a striking, neutered male German Shepherd with the classic shepherd presence — attentive, intelligent, and deeply devoted to his people. He bonds strongly with his family and takes that connection seriously. Dutch is both protective and friendly, the kind of dog who wants to be near his people and share in their daily life. Whether it’s a long hike, a car ride, a game of fetch, or relaxing on his dog bed after a full day, Dutch is happiest when he’s included. He walks well on leash, is kennel trained, and enjoys squeaky toys, tennis balls, pig ears, and interactive play. He’s been around other dogs and may enjoy canine companionship, though introductions should be thoughtful as he can be enthusiastic and direct when meeting.Dutch is a loving boy who thrives with structure and clear communication. Because he can be sensitive with certain handling — especially around his hips — we recommend a home with respectful older children (approximately 12–14+) and a family comfortable reading dog body language and providing consistency. He does have some hip discomfort and takes a joint supplement with fish oil to help keep him comfortable.Dutch is emotionally aware, deeply loyal, and happiest when he feels safe and understood. In the right home, he will be a steady, devoted companion and true partner. If you think Dutch may be the right fit, we encourage you to bring your family — and any dogs in the home — to meet him and see if it feels right for everyone.

Story
Buffalo has come a long way or the past year. I can`t even imagine what his life was like before he was rescued. He was found tied up outside not being fed. His first few days at UPAWS his bowel movements were sand. He has put on about 30lbs. He lived with two dogs while with me. They have passed. We have been together 1 year. He is food driven , but not food aggressive. I use treats as a training tool meeting dogs. He has been perfect in the house. Buffalo is a INDOOR dog. He does not counter surf or dig in the trash or yard.. He does not get on the furniture or beds. He knows sit and lie down. He has free roam of house. I have never had to try a kennel. He is extremely affectionate towards people and seeks affection. He walks well on a leash. He is reactive to some dogs when meeting. He does eventually warm up to some. Its something we are working on. Buffalo has a good recall off lead. Needs to be on lead when other dogs are around. Once he knows a dog he does well. This is a difficult decision. I love Buffalo, he is my best friend. I have serious health issues and need to find him a loving home that will spoil him and give him a loving home he so much deserves ? Buffalo has a vet appointment on 12/29/25 for his yearly check up/vacancies.**** Buffalo is not at Upaws*****If you are interested in Buffalo please contact:MarkPhone number: 906-440-2726Email: treadomt@gmail.com
