Story
This handsome boys name is Max! Max is a two-year-old Border Collie mix who had a rough start at life. He is mostly blind and had cataract surgery over the summer. Unfortunately post-surgery during a re-check of his eyes he is shown to have progressive retinal atrophy, which means his eyesight will continue to worsen, and once totally blind, he will need both eyes removed to eliminate the possibility of glaucoma. He is well adjusted to being blind, but has unfortunately shown reactivity to strangers, both human and animals. He is an intelligent dog with good food motivation and we are hopefully in the right home he will be able to be worked with to reduce his issues with strangers. Ideally he should go to someone with a fenced in yard as he loves to play fetch and wrestle with his toys. Once he is comfortable with someone he does remember them and becomes a big, playful sweetheart. He is also excellent for his multiple daily eye medications. In the right home this boy shows promise to make someone a wonderful companion! Please visit the following link on our website to learn about Second Chance's adoption process. http://www.2ndchanceanimalcenter.org/adoption.html February 24, 2024, 1:58 pm

Story
Caspian is a seven-year-old Pitbull/Labrador mix who originally came to Second Chance as a stray a few years ago. He had been adopted and was in a home for quite some time, but unfortunately he was returned to the shelter when his previous owners no longer had the means to care for him. He is quite the energetic boy and loves running around a fenced-in yard, playing tug-of-war, and just exploring the local trails.  Caspian does not do well with other animals. He would need to live with children over the age of 13 due to his reactions to certain situations. He is a fun-loving dog who has had a hard first few years of life and deserves to be stable and happy! Please visit the following link on our website to learn about Second Chance's adoption process. http://www.2ndchanceanimalcenter.org/adoption.html February 24, 2024, 1:58 pm

Skidder the Beagle checks all the boxes for people looking for a happy, gentle boy. He is around two years old and absolutely loves to play with his canine companions. Although we don’t have any history on Skidder he did well with his cat introduction and could also live with children with his gentle, enthusiastic disposition. If you have Beagle experience and want a young boy for your family then Skidder might just be your man! Please visit the following link on our website to learn about Second Chance's adoption process. http://www.2ndchanceanimalcenter.org/adoption.html February 24, 2024, 1:58 pm

Story
This big ball of energies name is Tuukka! Tuukka is a five-year-old Bernedoodle who was brought to us when he was not doing well with the infant in his previous home due to his protective and anxious personality. Tuukka loves his owners and does warm up to new people with some time. He loves bouncing around the play yard and chasing around his ball. He has done well with dogs in the past but has not made any friends at the shelter yet. He did well with the cats in his home and could live with children over ten. If you have doodle experience and are looking for a loyal boy Tuukka might just be your guy!  Please visit the following link on our website to learn about Second Chance's adoption process. http://www.2ndchanceanimalcenter.org/adoption.html February 24, 2024, 1:58 pm

Story
This happy boy’s name is Smoky! Smoky was brought to us after he was abandoned with an elderly family member by his owner. He is a 2-3 year old Coonhound who loves all aspects of life. He was timid upon arrival to the shelter but has made friends with everyone at the shelter and has come right out of his shell. He does wonderful with playful dogs, and could even live with a cat with due to his submissive personality. We are recommending calmer children as he does startle easy but he is definitely getting more confident. Smoky tested positive for Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, along with E Canis upon arrival to the shelter, all tick borne illnesses. This is most likely due to him being an outdoor dog without tick preventative. He has been treated with antibiotics even though he never showed signs of any illness. He will need work on housebreaking but other than that he is a Hound lover’s dream and will make someone a wonderful family dog. Please visit the following link on our website to learn about Second Chance's adoption process. http://www.2ndchanceanimalcenter.org/adoption.html February 24, 2024, 1:58 pm
