Story
Meet Gracie! Sadly Gracie was surrendered into our care after living the first part of her life tied to a porch. Gracie has now lived more of her life in the shelter than she did out of it. She has been in our care for over a year and is one of our longest residents. Once Gracie warms up to you she is a huge cuddle bug and loves to play in the water! Gracie does have to be the only animal but we are working hard on getting her properly introduced to be able to coexist with other animals around. Gracie has brought so much joy to our lives by being here but we know she deserves more than this. She does great at keeping her kennel clean and can never have enough toys. Gracie is an active dog who would do best with an outgoing person who understands what she has been through and is willing to continue the training she needs. If you are interested in Gracie and do not have any other animals she is available for a foster to adoption situation.

Story
Meet Hula! Hula loves going for walks, playing in the water, and is the best cuddle bug! Hula was a rescue previously and has bounced around quite a bit before coming into our care so we are hoping to offer her some stability and help her find her deserving forever home. Hula is a little nervous meeting new people in this environment but if you are willing to give her a few minutes she will open up. She is very loyal when she builds a relationship with you. She loves car rides, the beach, and has the best zoomies. Hula would do best as the only animal in the home as she becomes very territorial of her family but loves to play with dogs outside. If you have any questions or would like more information on Hula please call the shelter.

Story
Meet Courage! Courage came into our care as a stray that was found abandoned with a bag of dog food and a harness here in Manteo. We are so glad to have Courage with us now and we can't imagine what he has been through. Courage has such a fun and loving personality and truly is just waiting to find his person. He loves the water, car rides, and always has to have a toy in his mouth to show off. He does well with other female dogs but can not go home with small dogs or cats. Courage knows basic commands and walks great on the leash! If you are interested in Courage and have a dog already we would love to do a meet and greet if you are looking for a companion to travel with you or just enjoy the beach Courage would be perfect!

Story
Meet Nala! This pretty girl was surrendered into our care because her previous family was moving and could not take her with them. Nala is nervous in this environment but with love and patience she is coming out of her shell more and more. Nala is very curious about other dogs but seems to be intimated by them here. We are working with her every day doing slow introductions to dogs. At this time we do think it would be best that Nala goes into the home as the only animal until she is properly introduced and doing better. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Nala please call the shelter to schedule a meet and greet.

Story
Meet Allie! This sweet girl was abandoned after having several litters of puppies and was brought into our care as a stray. Allie is always looking for love and walks great on the leash. We can tell she has been neglected in the past and is so submissive with people. She seems to do well with children and other animals. Allie is currently in a foster home so we can gain more information on her and see how she does in a home environment. If you are interested in Allie please call the shelter at 252-475-5620!
