Story
🐾💙 Meet Odin — A Brave Young Soul Ready for a Fresh Start 💙🐾 Odin is an 8–9 month old neutered male Pitbull/Husky mix who has already lived more life than any puppy ever should. In his short time, he’s been passed around through five different homes, including time spent living on the street. When you’re shuffled hither, thither and yon, you learn to protect yourself. For Odin, that meant keeping his back to the wall and trusting no one. On his very first day with us, Odin chose exactly one person to trust — the young woman who picked him up. Everyone else? Absolutely not. But we didn’t give up. Each staff member sat with him, fed him treats, spoke softly, and gave him space. One tiny moment of trust at a time. And now? Odin has begun to bloom. He trusts every staff member enough to be moved, cared for, and even show off his silly, wiggly, puppy personality that had been buried under fear. He wants to love and be loved — he just needs the right people who will meet him where he is. Will Odin pop into a new home and instantly become a carefree, happy-go-lucky dog? Nope. But what he will do is reward patience and understanding a thousand times over. Odin needs a family who will: ✨ Come spend time with him at the shelter to earn his trust ✨ Move slowly, gently, and celebrate the small victories ✨ Give him structure, security, and unconditional acceptance ✨ Let him open his heart at his pace Is Odin worth that extra effort? 1000% he is. Once Odin trusts you, he is loyal, goofy, loving, and deeply devoted — a truly special dog who just needs someone to finally choose him forever. Adoption Fee: $300 Odin is neutered, started on his vaccination schedule, and microchipped. He weighs 35.1 kg/77.2 lbs. 💙 Can’t adopt Odin but still want to help? Your support makes stories like his possible. Story
🐾Meet Tiny Tiny is a 1½-year-old spayed female Lab mix with a heart as big as her smile. She’s grown up alongside her sister Penelope, and the two have been together their entire lives—Tiny finds comfort, confidence, and joy in that familiar bond. As a Labrador Retriever mix, Tiny shows many of the classic Lab traits: she’s friendly, social, and people-oriented, with a gentle, eager-to-please nature. She enjoys being around other dogs and does well in social settings, making her a great candidate for a home with canine companions. You may notice a small shaved patch on Tiny’s ear—this is from recent treatment for an ear infection. The good news is that she’s feeling much better now, and the fur will grow back as she continues to heal. Tiny is the kind of dog who thrives on connection. Whether it’s hanging out with her sister, making new dog friends, or soaking up attention from her humans, she’s happiest when she’s part of the action. She would do wonderfully in an active home that enjoys walks, playtime, and plenty of quality time together. Tiny's adoption fee is $300, she is spayed, started on her vaccination schedule and microchipped. Can't adopt Tiny yourself but still want to help? Story
🌤️ Meet Sandy 🌤️ Sandy is a 2–3 year old spayed female Husky/Lab mix with a soft heart and a gentle soul. She can be a little shy when meeting new people or experiencing new situations, but once you earn her trust, Sandy shows just how sweet and loving she truly is. Sandy enjoys playing with other dogs off leash and can be quite playful in the right setting. When on leash, she can be reactive around other dogs, so she’ll need a family willing to continue working on her confidence and leash skills with patience and understanding. She is looking for a calm, committed home that will take their time, go at her pace, and help her safely experience the world while building trust and confidence along the way. With consistency, kindness, and reassurance, Sandy has so much love to give. 🐾 Sandy is: Spayed Started on her vaccination schedule Microchipped If you’re interested in meeting Sandy, please visit www.mjhs.ca , click the Adopt tab, then Adoptable Animals, and scroll to her sweet face to submit your application. Once your application has been reviewed, we’ll contact you to book a time to come spend some time with Sandy to be sure she’s the right fit for you. We look forward to hearing from you and helping Sandy find the loving home she deserves 💙

Story
🐾 Meet Kenai (Keen-eye) 🐾 Kenai is a 2.5-year-old, 75-lb Shepherd/Heeler mix with a big heart, a sharp mind, and a deep sense of loyalty to the people he loves. He is an active, playful boy who enjoys adventure just as much as quiet time with his person — once he knows you’re his. Kenai was recently returned to the shelter after showing protective behaviour in his previous home. When someone moved quickly to hug his owner, Kenai reacted defensively. Thankfully, no one was injured, but this moment made it clear that Kenai needs a home that understands canine body language, boundaries, and leadership. Because of this, Kenai would do best in: ✔️ An adult-only home or home with older children. ✔️ A family with dog experience ✔️ A calm, structured environment ✔️ Guardians who are confident, consistent, and willing to continue his training Kenai is not a “bad dog” — he is a dog who feels deeply and bonds strongly. With the right guidance and environment, he has the potential to be an incredibly devoted companion. ✨ If you’re looking for a loyal partner who will be by your side through every walk, every road trip, and every quiet evening at home, Kenai may be the one for you. Adoption fee: $300 ✔️ Neutered ✔️ Microchipped ✔️ Started on his vaccination schedule 👉 Apply to adopt: www.mjhs.ca Click Adopt → Adoptable Animals and scroll to Kenai’s handsome face.
