Story
Snowball is a sweet XL ball of fluff! He is a shy, cautious boy and will appreciate a quiet room to hide in or a nice fort while he gets acquainted to his new surroundings. Once he is more comfortable, you will be rewarded with some head butts, flops, air biscuits, and loud purrs, especially if you get the right spot under his cheek. He loves cardboard scratchers. He is very talkative and very, very, food motivated. He’s been enjoying dried salmon treats, Greenies, and Churus, but we don’t think he’s picky.Snowball does not like to be picked up but will tolerate brief handling, such as being put into a carrier. He has also not shown his cuddly side yet (it may just take more time), but enjoys lounging nearby people while still keeping to himself. He is cautious when it comes to unfamiliar noises and will sometimes even growl at the front door like a guardcat! He would enjoy going to a quiet, adult-only home with previous cat experience. He can get overstimulated and it might take some patience to learn his behaviors and body language. Since he is also very food motivated, he has not learned how to gently take food from hands yet so it is not recommended to hand-feed Snowball, or do so with caution. His experience with other pets is unknown. The Seattle Animal Shelter is committed to reducing length of stay for all of our shelter pets! Some pets qualify for FREE or reduced adoption fees, please inquire with our Animal Care team to learn more. Pets are complex beings and prior to adoption, interested adopters will be counseled by a staff member to discuss the specific needs for each animal. This will include reviewing all known medical and behavior information.  ** Please note that some animals will receive numerous inquiries, sometimes more than we can process. We appreciate your understanding and patience. HOW TO ADOPT: Check the animal`s location. Story
Buckley was found as a stray kitten, and over the last four years, she has grown into a deeply loved, spirited companion. She is a true indoor/outdoor cat who thrives with space to explore. She loves spending her days outside — sometimes even following you on walks — and then coming home at night to curl up nearby. Buckley is playful, curious, spunky, and sometimes a little spicy. She’s independent and confident, but also enjoys sleeping at the foot of your bed or in her own cozy corner. Unfortunately, my new job requires frequent moves, and I am now living in studio apartments without outdoor space. I can see how stressful this has been for her, and she deserves freedom and stability. Buckley is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. She prefers her independence but loves people. I am looking for a home with safe outdoor access where she can truly thrive. This decision comes from love. Buckley means everything to me, and I want her to have the life she deserves.

Story
Jan 2026 Update: Zoey is still looking for a good home and we hope that will be you. Zoey has been with us since 2013, when we rescued her. Prior to that, she was a stray. She is a highly affectionate cat, who warms up to adults and kids quickly and will cuddle for hours. She's still playful - she loves to chase after laser pointers and feathered toys, though she now prefers to spend most of her time lounging. Zoey needs to be in a stable, quiet home with no other cats. Both of our cats have become highly stressed out by each other. This was resolved by separating them with Zoey staying in our basement most of the time. However, we are now remodeling our basement and the noise and changes to her environment are really hard for her. It breaks our hearts, but Zoey would have a happier life as an only cat for somebody who can provide her with more stability. Though she's now a senior, she's healthy (last vet visit and bloodwork in December) and would make somebody a fantastic companion.

Story
Looking to rehome a snuggly, middle aged cat named Gizmo. This sweet boy is a tri-pawd (his back right leg is missing). He loves food more than anything else, but a close second is curling up on your lap or chest to snooze. He is very chill but does not like other cats. He tries to sneak outside but is not an outdoor cat (He gets some summer lounging time on the leash). We are gone too often now a days and he’d be happier with someone home more often.

Story
Violet will be 2 on April Fools’ Day, and has a personality of a spunky little diva. Iris will be 2 on May 7th and has a very sweet mellow disposition. I adopted Violet from Seattle Animal Shelter foster program with her now sister Iris from Everett Animal Shelter one day apart. They are a bonded pair. Violet definitely has some energy of the two and loves to do zoomies across the rooms. She makes little “mah” sound effects whenever she plops or lands, it’s incredibly adorable! She plays well with toys and with her sister, but is slow to new experiences- she startles easily and can become shy. Making a connection is definitely at Violet’s pace and it’s a slow, steady, dedicated process. Iris on the other hand loves to meet new people! She’s a cuddle bug and will make little flute trills to communicate. She loves finding a ball or ribbon to play with and leaps wildly. They would need to be adopted together. I will also freely give up all cat belongings and equipment for their new home.
