Story
Meet Garrett! He recently arrived at the shelter and is still settling into their new environment. They are worried, and sweet, so we’re taking it slow as we get to know them and allow them to build up confidence at their own pace. He does best when his boundaries are respected and he’s allowed to move at his own pace. Adopters should be patient and understanding as it may take Garrett a little extra time to feel comfortable in a new home.

Story
Meet Martin! Martin is a special type of cat we lovingly call a Spirit cat! Spirit cats are very shy and prefer to spend time out of sight. New people and environments can be overwhelming at first and adopters should expect to see very little of Friendly as they are settling in. We often can’t predict how a spirit cat will be after they settle in - some become comfortable around their family and choose to spend time with them by sharing the same space or allowing some petting, while others continue to prefer to hide when there’s any commotion. Spirit cats generally prefer to spend their time around other cats and make an excellent kitty friend to a cat already in the home. Our staff can help prepare adopters to welcome a spirit cat into a quiet home, but patience and understanding will go a long way with Martin.

Story
Athena & her babies were surrendered when the babies were just at 7 days old.  She is a lovely, sweet & loving girl.Every PALS cat and kitten has been spayed/neutered, microchipped, tested negative for FeLV/FIV and is up-to-date on vaccinations. A note about kittens: if you are adopting a kitten, they may need to complete their FVRCP (distemper) series and may not be old enough for their rabies vaccination. These essential vaccines will be the responsibility of their new owner. Detailed vet records and a calendar of vaccination due dates will be provided. The PALS Adoption Center, located inside PetSmart at 10 Traders Way in Salem, MA (just off Highland Ave/Rte 107) BY APPOINTMENT ONLY TO APPROVED ADOPTERS.  Adoption applications can be found online at www.palscats.org.  A completed application is not necessarily an approved application. We do ask for written landlord approval if you rent, or proof of home ownership (water bill, etc.) We will also check your vet references.  You will be contacted by our adoption staff once your application has been approved.  Please note it can take up to 48 hours. Our online sites are updated regularly, but we can not guarantee that a cat you see here is still available. Please email if you have any questions regarding the adoption process or our available cats and kittens. PALS is an all-volunteer, no-kill rescue group. Each and every cat and kitten has been rescued locally. August 1, 2025, 9:06 am
