Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Midnight's journey has been a challenging one; she was attacked by a dog, which left her with nerve damage and incontinence. Her tail had to be amputated, and she was sent to Black Cat Rescue to heal. Despite the hardships she has faced, Midnight has shown remarkable resilience and strength. With the care and support of her foster humans, she has made incredible progress. Her incontinence is now manageable with the help of a diaper, and she has adapted to her new circumstances with grace and determination. Midnight (4 years old) is now ready for her next chapter, a loving home where she can receive the care and attention she deserves. She is a sweet and affectionate cat, with a playful spirit that shines bright. She even still likes dogs!! All she needs is a chance to show you the love and joy she has to offer. Please consider opening your heart and home to Midnight. She has so much love to give and is ready to become a cherished member of your family. Together, we can give Midnight the happy ending she deserves. Here's what her foster human has to say about Midnight:   How would you describe the cat's general personality? Midnight is a friendly and smart girl, she doesn’t hesitate to interact with people.   Does the cat enjoy being pet? If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? She enjoys being pet. Cheeks, head, and back, enjoying rubbing ears and belly too.   Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? She doesn’t like her rear legs being touched. Would move her legs away and give you some look.   Does the cat come on your lap? She loves coming on our laps a lot, many times a day.   Does the cat like to be held? She doesn’t seem like to be held currently, would try to jump away.   Does the cat sleep in your bed? She would if we let her. She loves being around us.   Does the cat seek your attention? Very much! She would meow or jump on our laps.   Does the cat like to play? What are the cat's favorite games and toys? She loves to play, in fact, she asks us to play with her every day. She may play at one toy and grab all the toys around her together.   How vocal is the cat? What kinds of sounds does the cat make? She is vocal when seeing us in the morning, got home or wants to eat. Her voice is very soft.   Does the cat scratch a scratcher? She does, the scratch board is her favorite spot.   Does the cat always use the litter box? If no, please explain. She’s not using the litter box due to the current condition.   What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? She eats both dry foods and wet foods(can foods).   Is the cat picky about food? She is a little picky, loves pate and salmon flavor.   What is the cat's favorite treat? She can’t resist Churu!   Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Yes, when we just met her, she swat at me when rubbing her belly(she likes belly rubbing), but now she doesn’t swat at me.   Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Yes, and also the same situation described above. Sometimes she would claws out, but can’t be sure if that just her claws are a bit sharp, because she doesn’t show full claws.   Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? No, she doesn’t.   Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No, she only lightly hold my hand in her mouth when rubbing her belly the first week we met.   To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? She is very friendly to new people, she jumped on and kissed us the first day we met. And I believe she is social and gets along with other pets well.   Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? Her sleeping style can sometimes make us laughing, she would straighten her legs backwards like a Flying supergirl.   In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? She has great personality, smart (fast learner), and gentle. Aside from her special needs, she’s an angel and a good friend.   What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? The most challenge part is her lack of ability to control urine and stools. We change her diapers 4-6 times a day and give her diaper-free times few times a day. Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Winona and Ryder are an adorable bonded pair of 9 month old kitten siblings. Here’s what their foster human says about them:   How would you describe the cat's general personality? They are both so sweet! They love attention and asks for pets everywhere, all the time. Winona has the cutest little meow and she LOVES catnip. Ryder loves belly rubs, and is very curios and gently, but it is a bit more shy than his sister.   Does the cat enjoy being pet? Oh yes, they both love pets! Winona has the softest fur I've ever touched. She feels like a chinchilla more than a kitty!   If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? Everywhere! Ryder particularly loves belly rubs – he flops over if you rub his back for a bit and offers up that cute tummy for as long as you'll pet it haha. Winona even likes to roll over for belly rubs sometimes and she has the softest chubby belly ever.   Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? They’re not huge fans of ear rubs.   Does the cat come on your lap? Winona’s starting to! If I sit down on the floor in my fostering room, she has started to show interest in laying on my lap. She's just still a little wary I think. Ryder laid on my lap and I rubbed him all over 2 days ago for the first time. He loved it. His previous owner mentioned he loved to sit on her lap too.   Does the cat like to be held? I've picked Winona up a few times and so has my boyfriend. She lets us, but begrudgingly I think. She definitely could get used to it though I believe. Ryder’s okay with it. He might get a little scared at first but once I talk to him and reassure him and pet him, he starts to calm down. He doesn't love being held for long periods of time though, but I think he could be trained to like it.   Does the cat sleep in your bed? No, I keep my personal cats separated from my fosters.   Does the cat seek your attention? Winona would be attached to my hip if she could be, I honestly think. I have to leave her room so she'll actually eat her food and not just beg me for attention haha. Ryder also seeks attention whenever he can! He's a lot more whiny than his sister. He will yell at me soo much until I pet him a bunch or give him food lol. But it's a funny, cute meow at least.   Does the cat like to play? If you give Winona catnip, yes! Ryder hasn’t played with me yet.   What are the cat's favorite games and toys? Putting catnip on a scratcher bed is Winona’s favorite thing. She rolls all around and practically does somersaults lol. Ryder loves his cat tower. He seems to have fun climbing all over it and scratching at the posts.   How vocal is the cat? Winona yells at me for food often. And occasionally she'll yell at me for pets. Ryder’s more vocal than his sister, but not as vocal as my personal Siamese cat lol. He is very high pitched and can be a little needy.   What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Winona makes meows, but she can turn up the volume if she's really hungry haha. Ryder makes shrill meows, and little chirps and trills occasionally   Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes! I have a round scratcher bed and a few posts/pads that Winona loves. Ryder uses a scractcher too but not as much as his sister. He prefers the actual cat tower with its scratching posts built in.   Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes! They were originally surrendered because they wasn't using a robotic litter box. I have 2 regular boxes in the foster room for the siblings currently and they've not had a single issue using them.   What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? They eat royal canin indoor wet morsels, and royal canin dry kibble. About a cup of kibble between the two throughout the day, and 3-5 cans a day. Depends on their appetite that day.   Is the cat picky about food? Not at all. I've tried friskies and fancy feast wet food with them too, and they loved it just as much.   What is the cat's favorite treat? They both love Churu style treats!   Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Never. The first 2 days I had them, Winona did hiss gently a few times but hasn't since. But that’s been it for both of them.   Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Never.   Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Nope.   Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? Never.   To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? Winona’s very friendly! I genuinely believe she loves people. She doesn't seem shy or scared of anything. Ryder’s a little more shy. But once he knows someone’s cool, he warms up so well. He's so affectionate with everyone he meets, it just takes him a few minutes.   Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? I really just recommend doing that catnip on a scratcher bed thing for Winona. She goes crazy and it's so funny and cute. She's very roly-poly for a chunky cat haha. Ryder’s eyes are hilarious to me. They're HUGE and bright yellow. They are really pretty eyes, but he looks like an alien sometimes! It's so funny and cute.   In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Winona’s SO sweet and funny. Her fur is simply the softest ever. And she's just stunning in general. Ryder’s got so much love to give. He really does deserve a very kind owner who can give him as much attention as possible. He’s a sweetheart, you just need to show him that you're a safe person and that you love him too.   What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? I was worried about the litter box, but they’ve been great about it. 2 boxes and scoop them at least once a day. And they’ve been doing fine using them Ryder’s very skittish when my dogs bark upstairs. I don't think he'd be great living with rambunctious/loud dogs like mine. Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Ramona is a sweet 1 year old girl. Ramona has chronic rhinitis and uses an inhaler twice a day which manages her excess mucus production. This is what her foster human says about her:   How would you describe the cat's general personality?  Ramona is super sweet and playful with just the right amount of sass to make you love her even more.   Does the cat enjoy being pet?  Yes!  Especially in the morning when everyone wakes up. If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? Head, cheeks, and back. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched?  Her tummy is often off limits. Does the cat come on your lap?  Yes, especially if you have a soft blanket across you. Does the cat like to be held?  No, not for long periods of time. Does the cat sleep in your bed?  Some of the time. Does the cat seek your attention?  Yes, especially in the morning and around meal times.  She also likes to be around her people.   Does the cat like to play?  Yes! What are the cat's favorite games and toys?  String, laser pointer, any pencils left out.   How vocal is the cat?  Not very What kinds of sounds does the cat make?  Her most common meow is a super cute, almost silent one.   Does the cat scratch a scratcher?  Yes!  And if she tries to scratch on furniture, moving a sisal scratching post right next to it will solve your problem. Does the cat always use the litter box?  Yes!   What food and frequency is the cat currently eating?  Dry food out all day and some wet food twice a day. Is the cat picky about food?  Not picky exactly, but because she is missing some teeth, some textures are harder to eat than others.  She seems to prefer chicken pate. What is the cat's favorite treat?  She loves the squeezable ones like Churu.   Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances?  Yes, she'll sometimes give you a little pat when you walk past her, especially if she thinks you should be feeding her. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you?  No Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you?  Only gently and during play Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No   To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful?  She is indifferent to new people.  Neither afraid nor particularly interested.  She is always friendly with whomever approaches her.   Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions?  She likes to roll over in the cutest way.  She as a cute swagger when she walks that we have dubbed her "runway walk" or "model walk".   In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt?   She is very friendly and will want to hang out with you and get head scritches.  She likes to sit near you or in your lap on the couch.  In the morning, she will definitely come find you for pets and love.   What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them?  She likes to stand on the edge of the litter box and move litter around a lot before using the litter box.  This has led to the box tipping a few times.  Getting a higher walled litter box helped a lot with this, and one with a lid would probably solve this, too.     To learn more about adopting this cat in Massachusetts, please visit www.blackcatrescue.com or fill out an Adoption Profile at https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston.  January 19, 2025, 10:44 am

Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Foro is a sweet 2 year old boy. Here's what his foster humans say about him:   How would you describe the cat's general personality?  Foro is a very sweet boy who loves human interaction.  He is a classic lap cat and snuggle bug.  He loves to follow his foster parents around the house and loves taking naps with us. Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes, Foro loves to be pet! If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? We usually pet him on his head and on his back.  His favorite spot is under his chin. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched?  We have never tried petting his belly, but like most cats I do not think that would go well. Does the cat come on your lap? Yes, he’ll often come onto our laps on his own, and will usually stay if we pick him up and place him on our laps. Does the cat like to be held? Yes, Foro is happy to be held by us. Does the cat sleep in your bed?  Yes, he started sleeping in our bed as soon as we let him out of his foster room.  Sometimes we find him sleeping there during the day too.  He is actually sleeping next to me in the bed right now as I type this! Does the cat seek your attention? Yes, he will often follow us from room to room around the house.  He will meow when he wants attention as well. Does the cat like to play? Yes if we initiate it, but he is not particularly playful. What are the cat's favorite games and toys?  He likes string toys and feather wands. How vocal is the cat?  He is fairly quiet but will sometimes meow to communicate with us.  When he was initially isolated to his foster room he would meow quite regularly because he wanted to leave the room. What kinds of sounds does the cat make? He’s got a cute meow and sometimes he will chirp too. Does the cat scratch a scratcher?  We have never seen him use a scratcher, but he has access to them throughout the house. If no, please explain. Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes, Foro has never had an accident. If no, please explain. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating?  We feed him dry food in the morning and one can of wet food in the evening. Is the cat picky about food?  He isn’t particularly enthusiastic about his dry food and will not always finish it, but he loves his wet food. What is the cat's favorite treat?  He isn’t very food driven and usually will leave treats that we offer him.  His favorite is wet food. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances?  Sometimes if we pick him up when he isn’t in the mood or carry him the wrong way, when we put him down he will “spank” us on the ankles a few times with one of his paws.  It’s actually very cute and funny. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you?  No, Foro has never scratched us. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? No. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No, Foro has never bitten us. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful?  He does great with new people.  We had a couple of people over for New Year’s Eve and he was happy to climb on them on the couch and be petted. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions?  He has beautiful deep green eyes and a gorgeous coat pattern.  He gets along fantastic with other cats, including kittens.  He is a very large cat (he is not obese but he is very long).    In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt?  Foro is a very social cat who loves human interaction.  He loves to follow us around and fall asleep next to us on the bed/couch.  From his behavior it seems he has been a domesticated house-cat his entire life, which is why we were so easily able to integrate him into our home.  If you have other cats he would love them but would be fine as an only cat too.  Foro is a sweet boy who just wants a loving family and a safe place where he can feel comfortable.  We have had a number of adult foster cats over the past year and he is one of the most social. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them?  He isn’t big on having his paws touched, so we have not attempted to trim his nails.  We are having trouble identifying a dry food that he really loves and we are trying different types.  We have a resident dog in our house who Foro seems hesitant with, so I recommend a house without a dog, but he loves other cats. Hi! My name is Craig! I am a handsome 3 year old male with black soft and sleek fur. I am a kitty with a big heart and even a bigger love for window gazing ,being a couch potato and getting all the belly rubs that I possibly can! I am a bit shy at first, but if you give me a little time I will be wanting to soak up all of your attention. I get along with my foster mom’s kitties very well and also her dogs she was surprised at how well I did. Nothing bothers me not even the vacuum! I love to play all day with my foster sisters we have so much fun. If you’re dreaming of a loyal companion who loves to snuggle and you like to give belly rubs look no further! I’m right and ready for my forever family! Could it be you? I must have another cat in my home! I'm available through Kitty Connection in Medford.

Hi there! My name is Kitty and I am a 3-year-old female. I am a very friendly lady and I love to play. I love having your attention and will follow you around to beg for pets, but I'll let you know once I've had enough. I get along well with other cats even though I’m not looking to be best buddies with anybody. I’m a very independent girl, but I love when my foster mom plays with me! I love playing with laser lights and I'm a lot of fun to watch. I can play pretty rough if I have a lot of pent-up energy! If you're looking for a friendly but independent companion, I'm the girl for you! I need to be adopted by an experience cat owner who will know how to read my body language. I'm available through Kitty Connection in Medford.

Story
Hello! We’re Winsta (5-year-old female) and Opal (1.5-year-old male). We’re believed to be a mother-son pair and were rescued by a kind Samaritan after our family left us behind when they moved. We love making biscuits, cozying up on your lap, “sharing” your bed, and watching the resident pigeons from the windowsill (though we really wish our foster parents could have one of those cool window bird feeders). While technically out of reach, we haven’t shown a strong interest in inspecting any of the houseplants (or high areas in general, for that matter). We’re well-fed and at an optimal weight, but that doesn’t stop us from trying to guilt our foster parents into thinking we’re starving. It’s worked twice so far, but they seem to have caught on. Winsta: Despite my small stature, I inhale and put away my Fancy Feast at a rate that would perplex a physicist. This made my foster mom nervous (something about carpeting?), but I’ve shown her I can keep it down (I was also VERY vocally opposed to her attempts to pace me with smaller portions). I love pretending the floor is lava as I make my way across the apartment, leaping from furniture to furniture. My favorite place to be is the papasan chair, which I sometimes share with Opal, but other times I let out a long groan when I want me-time. Opal: Privacy? Not part of my vocabulary. Personal space? Never heard of her. I feel and make myself at home the minute I step foot inside. My favorite things are draw strings, lasers, and your attention. If you stop petting me, I’ll forcefully throw my body at you or headbutt your hand like a goat until you relent. I love doing whatever you’re doing and walking wherever you’re (about to be) walking, so if I had a favorite song, it’d probably be something like “Every Breath You Take” by The Police or “We Go Together” from Grease. From Our Foster Parents: Despite all of the recent stress and changes in their lives, these two are so trusting, gentle, and eager for your companionship and their forever home! We are both absolutely amazing with children and adore the kids in our foster home! Winsta is more timid than Opal, but with the right introductions, we think they’d both adapt well to other cats, and respectful dogs. We are available through Kitty Connection in Medford!

Story
Hi my name is Scooby. I’m a little cat with a big personality! I’m a 3-year-old, all black cat with beautiful green eyes. I came to Kitty Connection when my owners couldn’t take care of me any longer. I love people and am very affectionate. Usually, I follow my foster mom all around the house. But if I’m off somewhere else, she just has to call my name and I come running! I love to be petted and any good rub will make me purr. I also love playing and if there’s not a cat toy around, I’ll find a piece of paper to chase around. My foster mom laughs at my antics. Sometimes I get a little demanding, and bat at my mom to make her pay attention to me. I’m only 8.5 lbs, but I am eating enough to pack on more weight. I LOVE food! I’m hoping to find a good home, where I be safe, get plenty of good food and attention, entertain you with my antics and share lots of affection and purrs. I'm available through Kitty Connection in Medford.

Story
Hello friends! My name is Maka (which means "eye" or "face" in Hawaiian). I am an incredibly sweet thirteen year old cat with beautiful bright green eyes, an adorable face, and a perfect cinnamon roll loaf. I am a cuddly cat who loves an evening snuggle on the couch, but also appreciates my space. I am a low maintenance companion, accustomed to spending time by myself and being pretty self-sufficient. During the day, I prefer to keep myself cozy on a pillow or in a cat house or in a window sill looking out at the birds and squirrels. At night, I would love to hang out with you, but will likely find a cozy place on my own nearby to sleep. I have very high anxiety around dogs and young children and am looking for a home with either no pets or young kids! I am great as an only cat or might to well with another mature, laid-back senior cat like myself. I have thrived living in a city apartment and in a suburban/rural area. I love car trips in my carrier; I'm always up for an adventure to see new sights and smell new smells! I have had a few teeth removed over the years so I eat only wet food and sometimes get an upset tummy, but I have a great appetite and am very food motivated for play and enrichment. I am a quiet guy who tends to save my meows to let you know that I am hungry! I'm hoping to find an amazing, loving, quiet home for my golden years where I can bask in the sun in peace with a loving human best friend or friends! Please do NOT apply if you have other pets or young children in your home! I am available through Kitty Connection in Medford.
