Story
Hello, I'm Oakley! I'm just a puppy, but I'm full of life and love. I'm super friendly and I'm always ready to meet new friends. I'm curious about everything around me, always eager to explore and learn. I'm sweet, always ready to give kisses and cuddles. Playtime is my favorite time of the day, and I'm always full of energy. I'm gentle with everyone I meet, and I love to make people laugh with my funny antics. I'm also pretty smart, and I'm quick to learn new tricks. I believe I would make a great addition to any family because of my loving nature and playful spirit. I promise to bring joy, laughter, and lots of love to my forever home.

Story
Finnius Franklin, “Finn” needs a new home because he’s just not good for a homewith babies or young children. He can be a bit of a problem child but was neveranything serious for his adult humans nor his puppy ‘brother’. However, when ababy became part of future plans his humans took Finn in for some training.Everyone, including Finn agreed he wouldn’t do well in a home with young children.Finn needs leadership and good direction; he is an engaged, smart and athletic dogwho likes human interaction. He would be good with just about any type of training;very typical of the Dutch Shepherd breed.Finn lives with lots of other dogs and has been good playing with them. He hasgood house manners and is crate trained. He enjoys going in the car when he getsthe chance and is good on a leash. This handsome boy could excel with the right leadership and attention.

Story
It is so hard to believe Ranger has not been swooped up for adoption! He is now one of our Diamond Dogs, which are the pets we highlight as the Diamond in the Ruff seeking their forever home. His adoption fee has been reduced to $125. Meet Ranger! He was found stray in a rural area and no one ever came to claim him. He is now in foster care awaiting a forever home to call his own. He's an adult Dutch Shepherd mix looking to be a loyal companion to one lucky family. Ranger does well with small dogs, cats and kids.  He is house broken and crate trained. He is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. He tested light-positive for heartworms and has received a ProHeart12 injection. We estimate him to be around 70 lbs. and 2 years old.  Stay tuned for more info as we get to know Ranger and apply for him here: https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-application/  We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Gentle Adult Dutch Shepherd Sloane is a 7-year-old, female, Dutch Shephard mix weighing approximately 60lbs. She was originally found on Lakeside Dr, in Rockwall on 9/12/23 and sadly was never reclaimed. She recently joined the LHS foster team where she is awaiting a forever home to call her own.  T his girl is super sweet, affectionate, and loves people! She's great with kids ages 4 and older and is very gentle while they play with her. She enjoys playing fetch, especially if the toy squeaks! She makes an excellent running or walking partner, but also settles down well after exercise. Sloane can be independent, but also loves any affection that comes her way. She seems to prefer having a human companion over a canine one but meet and greets can be arranged if you have another dog in the home prior to adoption. She is spayed, current on rabies vaccination and basic boosters, microchipped and heartworm negative! If you are interested in adopting Sloane, please complete the online application and the foster will be in touch asap:  https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-application/   We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. Story
-Guest Foster-Found running across a busy rural highway and dragging an attached leash, Obi was fortunate a Good Samaritan saw his plight and stopped to help him. Clearly lose and searching for his home, Obi was happy, alert and thankful for this hero. With no chip, no tag and no owners looking for him, Obi has been in boarding since then. He is a "stand out" at boarding and loved by his caretakers there.Generous with affection, Obi is an eager beaver who seeks you out for walks and soaks in your attention and petting. An intelligent dude, he's already house broken! Not much of a ball sports kinda guy, Obi gets along well with other dogs that and enjoys that camaraderie. His warm personality does make him exuberant sometimes, but his eagerness to learn will resolve that easily with the right focus. We currently have no experience with him and cats. Obi will do best in an active home and maybe even a companion to play with.

Story
Status: not yet available Monroe has been on our radar for over 18 months. Originally, she showed up with her two buddies, and one of our volunteers began feeding them and building trust. We found and rescued her puppies in January 2023, but Monroe remained elusive. She recently resurfaced, and we were able to catch her soon after her latest litter was born! She will be available for adoption soon. Questions about this sweetheart? Leia is a sweet girl around humans. She loves playing fetch, tug-a-war, and chasing the water hose. She is an inside and outside dog. She is crate trained and knows some basic tricks such as, sit, lay down, and turn. We are no longer able to keep her due to her aggression towards other dogs and we have other dogs in our house. She will thrive as a pet in a single pet house.

Story
Hi there! My name is Pippa! I am 9-month-old female German Shepherd mix who weighs around 50lbs. I was originally found off of John King Blvd. and SH 276 on 3/13/24 and sadly never reclaimed. So now, I am available for adoption and am looking for my new Furever home. I am a sweet and submissive girl who really loves my people. RAC staff feels confident that I will do good around other dogs but if you have other dogs at home, a meet and greet is suggested to ensure we get along prior to adoption. My adoption fee is $125. I am spayed, microchipped, current on my rabies vaccination, basic boosters to date and am heartworm negative.  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 2 or email info@RockwallAdoptions.com. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense. May 7, 2024, 7:37 pm

Hi! I'm Emerie! I'm an approximately 1 year old, female, German Shephard mix, weighing about 52 lbs. I was brought to the shelter in hopes of finding my furr ever home! I am currently learning how to play fetch and have a big interest in tennis balls! I walk well on a leash but still pull on occasion. I am excited to find my new furr ever crew and am looking forward to a snuggly, warm bed to sleep in. My adoption fee is $125. I am spayed and microchipped. I will be current on my rabies vaccination, basic boosters, and heartworm test on Wednesday, May 8th. Due to high interest since my arrival, meet and greets will be by APPROVED APPLICATION ONLY.
