Story
Meet Saint – A True Survivor Ready for His Forever Home! Saint is a stunning Catahoula/Dutch Shepherd mix with a heart as big as his story. This handsome boy was rescued from a local shelter after being found all alone with a severely broken leg. He was in desperate need of medical care, and thanks to the quick action of Legacy Humane Society and the loving care of his foster family, Saint is now fully recovered and thriving! Now healed and full of life, Saint is ready for his next chapter—with a forever family who will love him as much as he’ll love them. He’s housebroken, crate trained, and fantastic with people and other dogs. (He hasn’t been cat-tested yet, but we’re happy to do so upon request.) Saint is an energetic, athletic pup who lives for playtime. He’s a fan of fetch, tug-of-war, and zoomies, so an active home (and maybe a playful canine sibling) would be perfect for this spirited guy. He plays hard and loves harder! ✔️ Vetting Info: • Neutered • Up to date on vaccinations • Microchipped • Heartworm negative DOB: 4/23/24 ⚖️ Weight: 45 lbs  Adoption Fee: $125 If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a loyal, loving, and playful pup, Saint is waiting for you! Fill out the adoption application today, and his foster will be in touch: Adoption Application - Legacy Humane Society  We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
We believe Dottie to be a strong Dutch Shepherd mix with those ears! All of her 9 pups inherited those ears too. Her pups have already gone into rescue. Now it's Dottie's turn for a forever home. At first , Dottie was scared of everything and everyone, hiding in the dog house whenever her foster was present. She would even take her food dish into the dog house to hide to eat. She LOVES  other dogs! She now plays, polices the yard and goes in and out of the house. She crates very well and walks on a leash. She Is sweet, still a little shy, but loves to be petted and loved on. She needs slow introductions to new people because of her shyness, never has she shown any aggression. She will do great with a loving, active family. Please give Dottie her chance at a forever family. https://bit.ly/codys_adoption_application. ##2418677##

Story
Buster’s joy is contagious. If you’re looking for a happy, playful, fun-loving dog then come meet Buster. Buster is a 1 year old 40 pound neutered brindle Shepherd mix (Dutch/Belgium) part Carolina Dog. He came to Mesquite Animal Shelter on 5/9 as a stray. He has a tall, lean body with a healthy coat and exceptionally big ears. He’s very sociable. He prefers to hang out with his human friends. He’s very loving and well mannered. He sits for treats and takes them gently. He does jump up but not on you. He walks OK on a leash. He didn`t show any interest in other dogs, yet if you have another dog in the home please ask the shelter for a dog test. He did his business when he got into the yard. He’s a great all-around dog that would love to go for walks with you and then come back in to cuddle up watching TV.

Story
Amelia is a 2 year-old mostly black Dutch Shepherd that weighs 51 pounds and came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 5/18. She is definitely striking with her glossy coat, sleek figure and quirky ears. Being at the shelter with all the noise makes this sweet girl nervous, but easy to see she wants to be friends. She even came up to me for some ear scratches. She sits on command but was not interested in a treat. She is very sweet, alert, gentle, well mannered, energetic and walks well on a leash. She didn`t show interest in the other dogs barking at her, yet we do always ask if there is another dog in the home please ask the shelter for a dog test. She is a precious girl that dreams of finding her own loving home soon!

Story
Chazz is a 9-year-old Dutch shepherd. He is intelligent, energetic, excited, loving and kind. He adores big open spaces, running and long walks. He loves to be right by your side as much as he can and does tend to suffer from some separation anxiety. That being said, I am away from home 10 hrs. per day, and he does fine at home alone until I get back.     As amazing as he is he does have his issues. Chazz does not get along well with other dogs. So, any living situation would require that he be in a single dog home. Additionally, he gets rather frightened when the smoke detector goes of causing him to shake and potentially get inside the bathtub.     Chazz is a quirky fella who is full of energy and youth even in his adult age. He would be best suited in a home with a large yard or even a ranch. He still responds well to training and listens quite well to commands. I’m positive that with some eager attention and care he would be an amazing hunting dog or ranch companion.

Story
Looking for you ride-or-die soulmate-the kind who sticks by your side through every season of life? Kennedy might just be your girl. She's a survivor with a heart of gold. In 2018, Kennedy was rescued from a shelter where she endured Hurricane Harvey in an outdoor cage, facing 140 mph winds. Whatever came before that storm, she's never let it define her. Kennedy is resilient, wise, and full of love. For the past six years, she's been more than a pet, she's been a steady companion, a hiking partner, a sunset-watching sidekick, and a quiet comfort during hard days. She's snuggled through tears, celebrated joyful moments, and made solo walks feel like shared adventures. Kennedy doesn't just live in your home--she lives in your heart. Kennedy's ideal home is peaceful and loving. She's not a fan of chaos or high-energy dogs, and she's grown less tolerant of small or bouncy pups. She'd thrive as your one-and-only or with other big dogs who respect her space and vibe. She is ready for her next chapter, a home where she can be someone's best friend, protector, and partner in quiet joy. If you're looking for a dog who truly sees you, Kennedy is waiting. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. Our dogs are also heartworm negative (or we will cover their treatment). To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (www.dfwrescueme.org) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet. Kennedy is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so custody and ongoing care are provided by the foster, not by DFWRM.May 23, 2026, 11:18 pm

Story
Samus is a dear friend who came to me during Covid as a puppy (my girlfriend thought I was lonely!). We grew up together and he’s been present for all of my kids births. He is loyal and goofy and playful - he likes attention and lives when people come over. He is very fond of tennis balls, black rubber tire toys and nuzzling against you if you choose to let them on the couch or bed. He is great with all of our kids (especially as babies). Sammy has loved our family very well for many years and I want nothing more than to give him a home who can do the same for him. PS - he is best friend with our other dog, Loba (female, 9, very active).
