Meet Saint – A True Survivor Ready for His Forever Home! Saint is a stunning Catahoula/Dutch Shepherd mix with a heart as big as his story. This handsome boy was rescued from a local shelter after being found all alone with a severely broken leg. He was in desperate need of medical care, and thanks to the quick action of Legacy Humane Society and the loving care of his foster family, Saint is now fully recovered and thriving! Now healed and full of life, Saint is ready for his next chapter—with a forever family who will love him as much as he’ll love them. He’s housebroken, crate trained, and fantastic with people and other dogs. (He hasn’t been cat-tested yet, but we’re happy to do so upon request.) Saint is an energetic, athletic pup who lives for playtime. He’s a fan of fetch, tug-of-war, and zoomies, so an active home (and maybe a playful canine sibling) would be perfect for this spirited guy. He plays hard and loves harder! ✔️ Vetting Info: • Neutered • Up to date on vaccinations • Microchipped • Heartworm negative DOB: 4/23/24 ⚖️ Weight: 45 lbs  Adoption Fee: $125 If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a loyal, loving, and playful pup, Saint is waiting for you! Story
Looking for you ride-or-die soulmate-the kind who sticks by your side through every season of life? Kennedy might just be your girl. She's a survivor with a heart of gold. In 2018, Kennedy was rescued from a shelter where she endured Hurricane Harvey in an outdoor cage, facing 140 mph winds. Whatever came before that storm, she's never let it define her. Kennedy is resilient, wise, and full of love. For the past six years, she's been more than a pet, she's been a steady companion, a hiking partner, a sunset-watching sidekick, and a quiet comfort during hard days. She's snuggled through tears, celebrated joyful moments, and made solo walks feel like shared adventures. Kennedy doesn't just live in your home--she lives in your heart. Kennedy's ideal home is peaceful and loving. She's not a fan of chaos or high-energy dogs, and she's grown less tolerant of small or bouncy pups. She'd thrive as your one-and-only or with other big dogs who respect her space and vibe. She is ready for her next chapter, a home where she can be someone's best friend, protector, and partner in quiet joy. If you're looking for a dog who truly sees you, Kennedy is waiting. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. Our dogs are also heartworm negative (or we will cover their treatment). To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (www.dfwrescueme.org) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet. Kennedy is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so custody and ongoing care are provided by the foster, not by DFWRM.July 27, 2026, 1:46 am

Story
Amelia is a 2 year-old mostly black Dutch Shepherd that weighs 51 pounds and came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 5/18. She is definitely striking with her glossy coat, sleek figure and quirky ears. Being at the shelter with all the noise makes this sweet girl nervous, but easy to see she wants to be friends. She even came up to me for some ear scratches. She sits on command but was not interested in a treat. She is very sweet, alert, gentle, well mannered, energetic and walks well on a leash. She didn`t show interest in the other dogs barking at her, yet we do always ask if there is another dog in the home please ask the shelter for a dog test. She is a precious girl that dreams of finding her own loving home soon!

Story
He is a one-year-old 57 pound Dutch Shepherd/American pit bull terrier mix that was brought into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 7/27 as a stray. He’s a laid-back “chill” kind of a guy. When I sat down he immediately came to me and nudged me with his nose. He wants to make friends. He found a ball and brought it to me. When I threw it, he fetched it and brought it back. So he has a playful side. He’s sweet, gentle, affectionate, and well behaved. He walked calmly beside me on a leash. He did his business when he got into the yard. He’s looking for someone to play with him and to love him. He would love to get out to play and exercise and then come back in to cuddle with his new family. He’s a sweetheart kind of a guy!!!

Story
Cash came to the rescue when the shelter sent him to have his fractured leg amputated at our vet clinic. He had been shot, and we have no idea of the other abuse he had suffered, but he is initially afraid of new men (fine once he learns they mean him no harm). While he is not an aggressive boy, he acts as if he could tear into someone, which can be off-putting. He is fine with women, loving, outgoing, and cuddly, especially with his foster mom. We are helping him work onhis fear, which can/will be resolved with patience and TLC.Cash lives with lots of other dogs and gets along with everyone, large and small. He is playful and happy, can be as gentle or rough as needed, depending on who he is playing with. He walks fine on a leash and is good at going for rides when he gets a chance. He is crate trained and asks to go out if needed between potty breaks. He generally has good house manners, except when he counter-surfs for food when the opportunity presents itself.Cash is fully vetted, current with vaccines, neutered, microchipped, and on flea and tick, as well as heartworm, prevention.

Nova is an exceptional girl, thoughtful, attentive, and ready to devote herself to someone who can help her excel. She is very engaged, loves challenges, and athletic enough to meet whatever challenge might be put in her path - typical Malinois attitude. She gets along well with other dogs, loves playing with them, but we keep her with dogs her size or larger when she is outside unattended. She is with dogs of all sizes and ages when she is inside and gets along well with everyone.Nova will ask to go out when she is in a crate, uses a doggie door, and has good house manners. She loves car rides and is good on a leash. She would be a great go-everywhere dog.If you want a life partner, Nova could be just the girl you are looking for. She is fully vetted-current with all vaccines, spayed, micro chipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
