Jesse is one of six puppies in the Elvis litter. Sadly, the mama of these babies was shot and killed when they were only four weeks old (her picture is included). Fortunately, they have been rescued and are now on the hunt for a loving home of their own. Despite all that has happened, Jesse is a loving, happy, and friendly puppy. His foster says he is just the sweetest. He is gentle and submissive with other dogs. He never barks and loves to play, but calms down quickly and lays next to your feet. Jesse would be a great dog for first time dog owners. Please remember that young babies require a lot of time, love, patience, and socialization to become the best canine citizens they can be. If you are ready to change this beautiful boy's life forever, submit an application today!  Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program: Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home. For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.org.Sponsor Me! Story
I will be your new best friend! I like nothing more than to sit by your side or even between your legs all the time. I obey instantly because I want to please you. All your belongings are safe with me -- I do not chew anything, not even toys. I am OK with being along for a couple hours, but please don't leave me all day. I don't bark either, so life with me is very peaceful. I am wary of strangers and want to protect you, so proper introductions are very important. Then I am a lovebug! I do enjoy going outside, either on a walk or exploring my yard for strange smells. When I see you pick up the leash, I get so excited that I can hardly sit still! But because I am a hunting breed, it is a good idea to make sure that no little wildlife is in my yard when I am released. A comfortable bed, good food, and someone to love all day is all I ask! My Profile: Age: 6 years Weight: 67 lbs Good with kids: Yes Good with dogs: Some Good with cats: Unknown but doubtful Fenced yard: Yes Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: No House trained: Yes. Crate trained: Unknown but not necessary Barks when left alone: No Chews inappropriate items: No Training: Sit, stop, come Activity level: Medium Meet Me If you are interested in Spartacus, consider letting us know by filling out a (no-obligation) adoption application at pgspca.org. Please consult our Adoption FAQ before contacting us. Please check the adoption-show-attendees page to see if Spartacus will be attending the next adoption show. NOTE: We are an all volunteer group and do not operate a shelter. All of our animals are in foster homes. We are unable to place our animals outside of the Baltimore/DC area.

COFFEE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Coffee and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (October 1st) from 12-3 pm at the Potomac Yard PetSmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!   Name:  Coffee       Best Guess for Breed:  Foxhound terrier and beagle mix Best Guess for Age:  8 months as of 9/25/23       SEX: Male   Approximate Weight:  20.5 lbs as of 8/24/23; still has a bit more to grow!   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! Hasn't been seen with kids or cats but can be tested.    Currently Living at:  Puerto Rico shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get on a freedom flight up here on Saturday 9/30!   Coffee is Looking For:  This sweetie is one of a litter of four (Venti, Coffee, Mocha, and Cocoa) born to their mama Prada. They grew up together in a Puerto Rico shelter and now they're eager to come to the DC area and split up to get their own forever homes! You can imagine how different the smells in this area will be from Puerto Rico! Coffee is oh so eager to have his own humans to trot alongside, checking out all those smells; for romps in parks; and all the adventures his new family can dream up! He'd also like to make pup and people pals along the way, and attend dog school to show how super smart he is.  Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved for all his days - and to have his own humans to bestow all those adoring gazes and tail wags upon. What do you say? Does Coffee sound like just the right warm drink for you, especially headed into those cooler fall days?
