Story
Meet Eli, a sweet two-year-old, 40 lb. German Shepherd with quite a story to tell. He was found down south with a pellet lodged in his spine...yes, that's right, somebody actually shot this precious pup! Despite knowing only cruelty from humans in the past, Eli has thrived under the care of his current foster family, now on Long Island. Eli is an incredibly sweet and affectionate boy who brings joy to everyone he meets. He loves playing with toys, taking naps, and going for walks—where he always takes the time to stop and smell the flowers 😊. Eli enjoys observing the world around him, making him the perfect companion for quiet moments or outdoor strolls. This happy guy is crate trained, neutered, and up to date on all his vaccinations. He has a soft spot for milk bones, especially when dipped in yogurt or peanut butter! Eli thrives on routine, which is especially helpful for managing his slight incontinence—a result of a pellet injury he suffered as a puppy. His condition can be easily managed with a consistent schedule for feeding, water intake, and outdoor time. Eli is also dog-friendly and tolerant of cats, making him a wonderful addition to a home with other pets. He deserves a special family who will embrace his unique needs and give him the love and care he truly deserves. Could you be the one to offer Eli a second chance and a forever home? **This is a courtesy post for PAWS Long Island. If you have specific questions about Eli or are interested in applying for him, please email adoptions@paws-li.org or call 631-306-4616. Story
To my future owner, My name is Mowu. I am a 3 1/2 year old German Shepherd and have been living with my family since I was 8 weeks. My family has since broken up, and I’m losing my home and very sad because I love my little brothers and Mom and Dad. I love to protect and be with them all day. I am a really awesome pup that knows several commands (27 to be exact) and I am completely house-trained. I love to hang out in my crate with my big bed and play with my squeaky toys. I also love to play fetch with my ball in the yard. My Dad even trained me off leash! Some of my favorite things are Kongs with peanut butter and rolled rawhide bones. I am super smart and have lots of fun doing treat puzzles and I’m really good at them. Please give me a chance to meet you and I’m sure you’ll love me as much as I will love you!

Story
*Name: Lunar *Age: 2 years old  *Current Weight: 65lbs  *Rescued from: Georgia  *Adoption fee: $475  Meet Lunar  Lunar’s story began like so many others — found wandering as a stray in rural Georgia, scared, alone, and running out of time. Thankfully, SNARR stepped in just in time to give this beautiful girl the second chance she deserved. Now, Lunar is blossoming into the happy, affectionate companion she was always meant to be. Since leaving the shelter, Lunar — affectionately nicknamed Lulu — has made incredible progress. She’s learned the joy of soft beds (and proudly snoozes in hers now!), discovered how much fun toys can be (she's obsessed with them!), and realized that people mean love and belly rubs.... and as all German Shepherds are, loyal to her people beyond belief. She’s learning new things every day — from understanding basic commands to running freely around the yard with her leash in her mouth like a proud little girl. Lunar is even learning to ask for what she wants — she gently places her cheek in your hand when she’s ready for pets or will nudge you if she wants your attention.  Bright, active, and full of life, Lunar is energetic and playful, but also affectionate and eager to please. She loves people and greets everyone like a long-lost friend.  Lunar's Favorite Things Toys, toys, and more toys! She happily collects them all in her crate, her special “safe place.” Playtime in the yard: Rolling, running, and chasing after rolling balls. Being brushed: She loves spa time and sits patiently while you work through her beautiful coat. Slipper snuggles: After a long day, she’s learning to relax and just enjoy being part of a family, loving to lay by your feet and rest her head on your slippers. Lunar is active, intelligent and full of potential. She’ll thrive with someone who understands her breed’s energy and loves engaging both her mind and body.   Could Lunar Be the One for You? Apply today to meet Lunar and see how much love this special girl has to give. To apply to adopt, fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/ PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR FAQs  ##2465481##

*Name: Maverick *Age: 3.5 years old *Current Weight: 66 lbs  *Adoption fee: $475  Hello! My name is Maverick and I’m a lovable and energetic Shepherd mix looking for my forever home. I’m a friendly and loyal companion who enjoys splashing in the water, playing fetch, and running free in the yard. I also love snuggling up with my humans. My ideal home would be one with adults and older children. I’m great with other dogs, and I’m eager to please and learn new tricks. I’m house-trained and have good manners, but I would benefit from a bit more training to fine-tune my skills.
