ABOUT THOR Thor is a 6 year old shepherd mix with a big body and even bigger brain! He came to HAP when his owner could no longer keep him. This gentle giant loves spending time with people and is very eager to please. Thor is an excellent listener, already knows basic commands, and appears to be house-trained. When he's not busy being a genius, he has a playful side too. Thor loves to play fetch and will even bring the toy or ball back to you! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
ABOUT SCRAMBLE Scramble was abandoned on our property, found running around scared and confused. While we do not know why someone would abandon her, we are happy they at least chose somewhere safe. Thankfully, Scramble walked into one of our fenced fields, so our staff could calmly and slowly encourage her to approach us. Scramble was severely underweight and starving for food, so she warmed up very quickly to our staff with snacks. For a couple weeks, she was on a meal plan to help her regain her weight in a healthy way. While she now loves our staff and volunteers, she is still a little fearful of new people at first, but he loves is easily won! When greeting new people, she will happily welcome pets if there are treats involved. She also LOVES to be outside and has done excellent making friends in a more open area. Scramble can be pretty vocal meeting dogs, but she does playbow and try to engage in playtime with doggy friends. In true shepherd nature, she loves to use her voice, so another dog that isn't fearful of that would be best. To help socialize her more with the world, one of our more experienced volunteers took Scramble for a day out of the shelter. Here's what she had to say about their time together: "I took Scramble out today for a much needed break. Although very sweet with me, she is very hesitant of strangers. Typical shepherd! Once she gets to know you, she is the sweetest. We did a nice long walk along the riverfront. We stopped in riverfront pets for a toy and collagen bone. I took her to my home, where she explored my dogs area and toys. After some bonding time, she started to realize how to play with the toys. She is such a love and deserves a loving, playful home. It doesn't seem like she had one before. With a lot of love and some patience this girl will be your whole world! I hope someone gives her the chance she deserves." - Nicole If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Story
These two male German Shepherds are highly energetic n just want your attention n to be loved. With a little bit of care and training these two follow directions n are kennel trained. Sadly we don't not have the time to care for them anymore definitely not enough room for 4 large dogs. Dogs were purchased from Amish breeders in Pennsylvania. They are 7 years old as for a new home preferably with decent size yard and or owner with time to walk them on a leash.
