Story
Snow (m) - a 3 year old, handsome white German Shepard boy. He is very friendly with people and kids and but reactive with other dogs, likely because has not been neuter. Snow will be neutered before or within 2 weeks after adopted through Sunshine's Friends.  He has been raised and currently lives with young children. He went to Academy Dog Training for two months and obeys commands. Snow would benefit from a large fenced yard and someone to play catch or Frisbee with. He is being surrendered to us because his family can no longer care for him. ##1645888##

Story
Dsisy is a Panda German Shepherd, 2 years old.  She is super sweet, loves kisses, and plays fetch.  She is always carrying a ball or a toy in her mouth. She barks at other dogs but it is a more playful bark of wanting to run around. She currently lives behind a dog park (can see the dogs from the yard) and she is always running and jumping from one side to the other trying to follow the dogs as they also run from one side to the other). She needs a forever home with a tall fence around the yard. She is excellent with a 3-year-old boy and has never had an issue or worries for their safety. She is competitive (there are other small dogs in the home) so she is always trying to be the first one to get all the toys). Being a German Shepherd she is protective of her people. When she goes to the vet, they always take her inside for vaccines or check-ups because she is more relaxed.  If they tried to do vaccines or check her up when with her people in the same room she would bark.  She is a fearful dog of strangers.  She needs time to trust other humans but once she does she is sweet. She was left with a dog sitter, and had to build that relationship first before feeling confident of leaving her for a week with her. If she gets visitors staying at her house, she needs extra time to acclimate and trust. We are looking for a new loving home for her where she can have a private backyard to run around, play fetch, and just enjoy. She will do well if the family has another big or small dog, or no dog - she has lived with French bulldogs in the house. A loving person or family that is willing to understand her fear and work with her until she gets acclimated.  She is supper sweet. Maybe someone with older kids that has more free time.  She does fine in the crate and doesn't have separation anxiety.  She is fine by herself.  She knows basic commands. She does need and active person who can give her the time to take on long walks or just play time outdoors.   ##2076439##

Story
Look at that face!  Beautiful Nicky is a mixed breed probably with some German Shepherd.  He has a beautiful coat, a happy disposition, and loves all people.  He is very focused on people - on walks he consistently looks to the person walking him for direction and likes to take breaks to get snuggles.  He will quickly bond with his special human(s) and be easy to train.  He gets along well with other dogs when properly introduced and when he knows them - then he loves to play.  He has some energy in the kennel and greets people exuberantly.   During a short term foster he did very well in the crate, had no accidents in the house, and knew "sit." He LOVES to snuggle and get belly rubs.  He always wants to be near his people.  He would make a great addition to any family.  He is sick of being in the kennel and would love to find a home with people who would pet and snuggle him.  Do you have room in your life for a sweet furry companion? PAW places animals in the Washington DC/Baltimore Metropolitan area only. ##2086907##

Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Lilly is 4yo, weighs 58lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, but is not microchipped.  Lilly is good in the car, but is anxious; she dislikes/fears loud noises such as thunder and gunshots.  Lilly's guardian adds:             "She is Ball or Frisbee fanatic. It's all she wants to do.  A friend told me it's a sign of working dog . A complete stranger could Walk up to  Lilly  hand her a ball and she would accept them . That's how I introduce her to others.  Being a Shepherd she is very protective.  I take her for walks on the Antietam battlefield the closer we get to cars people or dogs the more anxious she gets to the point that I avoid confrontation.  My son hugs me and you can see her unrest. She has the anxiety of wheels. Especially byclcles. She did a year ago knock a byclicelest over on the C.O canal.didnt attack him though.                                  We did go through  4 months of professional training.once a week  2yrs ago.  She knows All the commands  She is very smart, but training was cut short because my wife had a heart attack.  We did board her at a large kennel 3 times when we went on vacation.  She was kept away from other dogs.  She is fine with them and at the vets when neither of us are around.  She loves to swim as I have taken her to Antietam creek numerous times.  I believe in the pack mentality and think she's not been totally broken of it. She listens to me but I just don't trust her and I have grandkids and friends and just can't risk it anymore." Lilly's guardian explains why he has made the difficult decision to rehome him:  "I don't trust her that she won't commit another bite or someone or another dog or animal, especially when I'm not around." BITE INCIDENTS:  In April 2022 and in May 2023, Lilly bit a neighbor's dog and guardian's son's friend.  Guardian explains:  "Neighbor's 2 small dogs were on the property border and Lilly attacked one and the dog was treated by the vet.  [My] son's friend, visiting, got close and she bit leg (nip bite on butt and teeth bite on back of leg); treated by us, not by doctor; both incidents were reported to the humane society."  Lilly's guardian states the following regarding children/dogs/cats:  Lilly lives with a cat and parrot, but hasn't lived with children or dogs, so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with anyone but an adult.   Lilly's guardian describes her as: Very active Playful Independent Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Outdoor dog Nervous House-Trained Crate-Trained Lilly's guardian describes her ideal future home:  "I believe Lilly would be best suited for an individual.  She wants to please and does interact great with me.  No matter where we go or do, she wants to follow.  She is playful with so much energy."
