This sweet Georgia girl is looking for her forever home.  She is your typical sweet big pup who loves others dogs and people. Adele prefers a more rural home (did not do well in foster in downtown DC) and without a lot of in and out traffic in the home. She LOVES to play with other pups and is great in her crate (she is happy to go in with a bone for an afternoon nap and at night), so if she can find the right home to work through her quirks, she could be the great fit. She would do best in a home with older children or teens. She is a little shy at first but warms up quickly and is very food motivated! Adele also knows how to use a doggy door. Could yours be the home of Adele's dreams? Submit an application today! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program: Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home. For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.org.Sponsor Me! I was rescued, along with my sister Pup Valerie, by K-9 Lifesavers from an overcrowded shelter in Alabama. Because there have been so many recent changes in my life, I am shy. I warm up quickly if there is another dog around. I would really like to find a home with a confident and welcoming dog to show me the ropes. I'm a sweet and loving pup just looking to find my forever home. Could that be with you? At my young age, I am in my prime for training and socialization too. I promise to be the best friend you've ever had. Adopting me would mean endless love, companionship, and a loyal friend. I can't wait to meet you! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Lilly is 4yo, weighs 58lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, but is not microchipped.  Lilly is good in the car, but is anxious; she dislikes/fears loud noises such as thunder and gunshots.  Lilly's guardian adds:             "She is Ball or Frisbee fanatic. It's all she wants to do.  A friend told me it's a sign of working dog . A complete stranger could Walk up to  Lilly  hand her a ball and she would accept them . That's how I introduce her to others.  Being a Shepherd she is very protective.  I take her for walks on the Antietam battlefield the closer we get to cars people or dogs the more anxious she gets to the point that I avoid confrontation.  My son hugs me and you can see her unrest. She has the anxiety of wheels. Especially byclcles. She did a year ago knock a byclicelest over on the C.O canal.didnt attack him though.                                  We did go through  4 months of professional training.once a week  2yrs ago.  She knows All the commands  She is very smart, but training was cut short because my wife had a heart attack.  We did board her at a large kennel 3 times when we went on vacation.  She was kept away from other dogs.  She is fine with them and at the vets when neither of us are around.  She loves to swim as I have taken her to Antietam creek numerous times.  I believe in the pack mentality and think she's not been totally broken of it. She listens to me but I just don't trust her and I have grandkids and friends and just can't risk it anymore." Lilly's guardian explains why he has made the difficult decision to rehome him:  "I don't trust her that she won't commit another bite or someone or another dog or animal, especially when I'm not around." BITE INCIDENTS:  In April 2022 and in May 2023, Lilly bit a neighbor's dog and guardian's son's friend.  Guardian explains:  "Neighbor's 2 small dogs were on the property border and Lilly attacked one and the dog was treated by the vet.  [My] son's friend, visiting, got close and she bit leg (nip bite on butt and teeth bite on back of leg); treated by us, not by doctor; both incidents were reported to the humane society."  Lilly's guardian states the following regarding children/dogs/cats:  Lilly lives with a cat and parrot, but hasn't lived with children or dogs, so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with anyone but an adult.   Lilly's guardian describes her as: Very active Playful Independent Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Outdoor dog Nervous House-Trained Crate-Trained Lilly's guardian describes her ideal future home:  "I believe Lilly would be best suited for an individual.  She wants to please and does interact great with me.  No matter where we go or do, she wants to follow.  She is playful with so much energy." We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Prima is 2yo, weighs 67lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Prima's guardian states: Prima is extremely smart and affectionate.  She is eager to learn and picks up on training exercises very quickly.  We have worked with a professional trainer for 3 months now.  She is well trained.  She loves going on walks and can even keep up while jogging. She loves to play fetch and zooming around grassy areas. When it's time for bed, Prima is the perfect snuggle buddy. She has a strong bark which she uses to protect her home. However, she only uses it sparingly. She is fully crate trained and housebroken.  Her recall is solid and she walks well on leash.  Her favorite toys include squeaky balls, tug toys, treat puzzles, and bones to chew on. She knows several commands such as "sit ", "stay ", and she will sit politely while you are serving her food and wait until you tell her to "break " before eating.  She loves car rides! Prima's guardian explains why he has made the difficult decision to rehome her:   "My wife is blind and has become fearful of Prima.  We are looking to regime ASAP.  Prima will nip at my wifes arm and butt, jumping at her face.  With my wife being blind, she does not know what’s going on and how to stop it.  Prima is good when I’m in the room but as soon as I step out, she starts to bully my wife." Prima's guardian states the following regarding children:  Since Prima hasn't lived with nor otherwise been around children, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with children. Prima's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Prima has lived with a dog, so her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating "Prima can be pushy and dominant". Prima's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Although Prima has lived with a cat, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating "Prima has a high prey drive to see cats and can get fixated on it all times". Prima's guardian describes her as: Very active Playful Friendly Affectionate House-Trained Crate-Trained Prima's guardian describes her ideal future home: "Prima will thrive with someone who can spend time taking her on adventures and teaching her new things.  Prima would do great in an active house with experienced Shepherd handlers." We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Artemis is 1yo, weighs 95lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Artemis's guardian adds:  "She walks great on a leash.  She is very well trained to 'come', 'sit', 'lay', 'down', 'off, 'eat', 'up', and 'gentle', etc.  She is also shocker trained.  She can NOT live with other pets.  Or be around other pets.  Ever.  Not even to a dog park or on a small trail where she will encounter another dog.  She has never been a chewer, she isn't a digger, her ONLY negative is that she can't be around other dogs.  She is a sweet dog and very well behaved about literally everything else.  She loves to play hide and seek, we are very elaborate about this in our house. We hide objects as well as people....lol...fun games!!  Whoever gets her, we will also give all her things (crate, leash, toys, food, food bin, etc.)."                                                                          Artemis's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  "She is aggressive towards other dogs.  We have other dogs in our home.  She has attacked each of them.  We have paid for great training with her but nothing can be done."  Lunge/attack/bite incidents:  Prior to 22 February 2024, Artemis bit her canine siblings on several occasions; the incident(s) broke the skin; animal control was not involved; unexplained medical attention was administered.  Artemis's guardian explains:  "She has attacked/bitten our other dogs.  They needed medical attention.  She has never attacked or bitten a human." Artemis's guardian states the following regarding children:  Artemis lives with children (ages 13, 15, 17, & 19) so her guardian recommends her living with older children, stating "She is hesitant about small children but has never been aggressive at all to a human."  Aretemis's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Artemis lives with dogs, but her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, because she's lunged/attacked/bitten her canine siblings on several occasions. Artemis's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Artemis doesn't live with nor has otherwise been around cats, so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats.
