Story
Meet Noel, a lovable 4-year-old Shepherd mix with a heart as big as her playful personality! She is house-trained and loves her kennel — it’s her safe haven for both bedtime and chilling during the day. While she’s content in her kennel when her humans are away, she might give a little whine if she can hear people nearby because she’s truly a people puppy and loves being close to her family. Noel is great with kids and enjoys the company of other dogs. She does have a lot of energy and loves to play, but cats usually aren’t her biggest fans because of her rambunctious, playful nature. She is currently working on her leash manners and would benefit from some consistent training, though she’s a quick learner with the right guidance. She’s a pretty chill passenger and rides wonderfully in the car, making her an excellent road trip companion! Nera’s energy level is medium—she enjoys a good game of fetch, although she may not always bring the ball back. She’s also perfectly happy roaming around in a fenced backyard, content to explore and take in her surroundings. Noel waits patiently for her food and responds well to basic commands, like sitting and laying down. Above all, she’s an incredibly sweet, loving dog who just wants to be a cherished member of a family. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate companion, Noel might just be your perfect match! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Distemper combo vaccines appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm and flea/tick preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $425.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 8, 2025, 12:37 pm

Story
Hi, my name is Ohio, a 1 year old German Shepherd mix, and I am looking for my forever home.  My foster mom is a middle school teacher and she keeps saying, "Her name might be Ohio, but she is definitely not skibidi.  She has a 100% Aura rating."  I am not exactly sure what that means, but I think it means that I am pretty awesome, which I am.  She also says that I am a very pretty and sweet girl who has the most beautiful, soulful eyes. Well, that is true too.   So far I have had no accidents in the house, and I let my fosters know when I have to go outside.  My foster mom said that since I seem anxious about gates and kennels that I can stay out at night and when they are away.  I have been doing well, but I am kind of a hoarder...I keep myself busy by bringing a bunch of things to my bed to keep me occupied.  Did you know that I live with a cat and two house horses?!  Well, my fosters tell me they are called great danes, but they sure do look like horses!  We get along pretty well, and I like to play with them.  I also love all the people I meet, and a lot of times I get so excited that I jump on them, but really I am just trying to give hugs and kisses.  I am learning to give my hugs and kisses from the ground, and I am a fast learner.  While I am a little anxious to get into the car, I love riding when I am in and settled.  I am also learning to walk on a leash!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 7, 2025, 5:51 pm

Story
Tulane is a shepherd mix who is just looking for a quiet home filled with love. Once he knows he's home and safe he loves nothing more than to nuzzle up close to his people and be held. His happy place is being held, and if he's in your arms he will tolerate just about anything. Tulane is an anxious dog who above all is looking for a relaxed household where he can feel safe, if you give him that, he'll give you his heart.  When the world is overwhelming, Tulane knows the best place to find his own inner peace is in a pile of throw pillows. He is regularly found on the couch tucked in between several pillows, in a fort of his own making. To help him get less overwhelmed by the world Tulane takes a daily mental health medicine with his food, he's happy to gobble it right up with his breakfast and then the world is a bit less scary.  Tulane is potty trained, crate trained, and not prone to running away, making him ready to fit into his forever home. While he’s friendly with other dogs, Tulane would be best suited to live with a very mellow other dog, or as any only dog.  Tulane has a condition called patellar luxation, affecting his kneecap, but its easily managed and doesn't impact his life much. The vet recommends avoiding long walks on pavement, however, this is a blessing in disguise because Tulane doesn't really want to go on walks! He is a homebody who is likely to run and hide when he sees the leash.  If you’re looking for an affectionate, and deeply loyal companion who will adore being by your side, Tulane is ready and waiting. Come meet him and you just might find the missing piece of your heart. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, rabies vaccination if age appropriate, prepaid microchip, dental, dewormed, Distemper combo vaccines appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm and flea/tick preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 1, 2025, 1:53 pm

Story
Gunner is an adorable sable male GSD. Gunner lost his mom suddenly and needed a place to go, so we took him in. Gunner had a knee surgery previously, so he does walk a little funny, but that does not stop him from playing with his jolly balls! Gunner should be the only dog in the home at this point in his life. He is crate trained, neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Experience needed for Gunnar, he’s a great dog, but needs a strong handler. If you are interested in learning more about Gunner, you can apply on our website www.skylarsscholarships.org (the application is listed under the “more” tab).

Story
HI! From Picket Fence Poodle Rescue! Yep. This is NOT a Poodle. As you can see, she is a German Shephard and Labrador cross. And because we only accept Poodles, we are calling her a “Poodle Wanna Be” as she is a special girl with a story to tell. “RAINEY” and her 2 sisters were born on March 3, 2019, at the Tri County Humane Society. Sort of a sad way to start her life, but at 6 weeks old, Rainey was quickly adopted by a wonderful and loving family who deeply loved and cared for her until…… Rainey is an easy going, gentle, sociable, very smart, loving and a quiet (but will bark when someone comes to the door) BIG girl.  Since Rainey has been with us, we found that she just LOVES to be with men, women and older children. This 6-year-old girl quickly became attached to my husband Mike and loyally follows him everywhere.  When Mike leaves, she transfers her loyalty, attention and love to me. Rainey has always been a house dog, so if we are gone, she has free access to our entire home (housetrained). She then feels the living room couch and our bed is hers to sleep on. At night she wants to be near us, so she sleeps on the floor next to our bed. Rainey considers herself a member of our family and NOT a dog. Did I tell you that this is a smart girl? That’s the “Poodle Wanna Be” in her! Rainey is just fine with (but mostly ignores) all our gentle and easy-going Poodles. She has been an only dog with cats around her all her life. Yet while on our walks and at various events, she is just fine meeting other older, gentle and easy-going dogs. Rainey will jump up on our couch and sit right next to you!  Rainey also greatly enjoyes going to softball games, meeting people at the Anoka Car Show, attending our recent neighborhood National Night Out, going to the beach, riding in a car, having her coat brushed and loves her food and treats! She will "come" when called, will “sit” upon command and listen to whatever you have to tell her. When Rainey first came to us, she was obesely overweight at 120 pounds. With instructions from our Vet, we have reduced her quality food intake and increased her daily walk to 2 miles a day, which she just LOVES to do. Just grab her leash (or say the w-a-l-k word) and she’s ready to go. She now weights a healthy 115 lbs. which my Vet feels is all muscle. Hmmmm…. Rainey was surrendered to us by a family who we know. Sadly, their special needs child was physically abusing and attacking Rainey even though Rainey did nothing wrong. Finally, it was tearfully decided that for Rainey’s safety, she needed to go to a new home. Rainey has been checked by our Vet and found healthy with no physical or emotional problems. She is spayed, has been recently Heartworm, Lymes and Ehrlichia tested negative, Home Again microchipped and registered. All her vaccinations and worming are up to date. *You must be physically able to handle a 115-pound dog. *Preference will be given to a family with large dog or German Shephard experience. *Rainey has always been an only dog.  She is OK with other dogs, but only for a short period of time. BUT PLEASE: *NO young children. *NO cement trucks (long story there) *Like most rescue groups, we do not adopt our Poodles (and Poodle Wanna Be's) to homes more than 1 day’s drive (round trip) from our location here in central Minnesota. If you feel Rainey would fit into your family or know of a family that would be interested, her adoption fee will be $200.00 which includes the Minnesota sales tax, her leash and collar, a large bag of quality dog food, a new bag of Dasuquin MSM joint supplement (great for all large dogs), her dog food dish, a dog food bin, a large dog pillow and a couple of dog brushes and some toys.
