Kenji and ashura were born from the same litter . They are 1 year and 1 month old . They are super super energetic , they love to play outside and they are pretty floofy and big . They do just fine entertaining themselves but they go crazy if they know you’re home and they haven’t got to see you yet . I’m looking for someone who has time for dogs , someone preferably with a yard and enough space . They are super affectionate. I’m looking for someone who wants a big dogs to love on . Kodak is a special German Shepherd that is in need of a foster and/or permanent home. He came to us as a stray with a severe tail injury that required amputation. He is estimated to be approximately one and a half years old, current on vaccines and heartworm negative. In his time under our care we have learned that he is a very loving and intelligent boy. Unfortunately, he has a very severe case of separation anxiety that requires someone to be with him at all times. He knows how to 'sit,' walks well on a leash and is kennel trained, despite not wanting to be away from his people. He does not do well with other pets, but is a very loyal and friendly dog where humans are concerned. Kodak would love nothing more than to have a loving home with people to call his own.

Tonka walks on a leash well, knows how to, 'sit,' and loves to play. He is crate trained and can be a bit protective of that space where other animals are concerned. Tonka loves to please, is easy to teach and is the perfect size to load up and go on any adventure.

This precious girl is Zelda, picked up as a stray by one of our officers and brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 3/10. My Dog Scanner app suggests she has Beauceron in her breed mix. She is about 2 years old and weighs 48 pounds. Zelda is scared and uneasy in the shelter. She is very submissive and will come to you for comfort. This shy girl needs reassurance and to build trust and confidence. She wants so much to please and will stay close to a human friend. She has a sweet gentleness about her. Zelda is overtly affectionate and seems starved for attention. She walks ok on a leash but when she walks past dogs that are barking at her, she is intimidated. We will continue to spend time with her helping her to feel more comfortable and cared for and she will undoubtedly warm up. Zelda deserves another chance at finding a home in which she will be loved and a person or family who will stay committed to her.

Heidi has a long lean body, a long nose, large stand-up ears, and soft brown eyes! She's a real looker! When you take her for a walk, you'll be the envy of the neighborhood! Heidi is a one year-old 59 pound German Shepherd that is light tan and black in color. She arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/4 as a stray. When I was putting the scarf on her, she started licking me. That was a first for me. I thought it was so sweet. Well, she is really sweet. When she first got out into the yard, she explored the whole yard with her nose. She kept looking over the wall, although she did not make any attempt to escape. She will need a tall secure fence as she's very curious and alert wanting to know what's going on in her surroundings. She was not interested in balls or toys. She did sit for treats. At the end of the photo session she came to me and enjoyed having her ears scratched. She's very gentle and calm, well-behaved, friendly, and playful. At one point she pranced around the yard. She walks extremely well on a leash. She walks right beside you. She did her business out in the yard and kept her kennel clean. She sniffed other dogs but had no reaction one way or the other. Although she will need a yard her dream is to spend most of the time snuggled up with her new family watching TV or just chilling!

Meet Chelsea, an attractive German Shepherd picked up by one of our officers, and brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/26. She weighs 53 pounds, is about two years old and is spayed. She loves treats and will sit for them, taking them politely. She does well on a leash and may be house trained as she pottied in the yard. During her photo shoot, she ran and played in the yard stretching her legs and enjoying the freedom of being out of her crate. Chelsea is an energetic girl, lively, active and alert with an outgoing personality. She will jump on you in her enthusiasm, but not excessively so. She is friendly and is A-OK with receiving loving attention. This is one delightful girl that would make someone a wonderful companion. Though German Shepherds are often kept as outside dogs, Chelsea wants and deserves to live inside and to be adopted or rescued by someone that will stay committed to her.
