Story
Hello, my name is Kyra! I’m an 8 year old Great Dane weighing about 100 pounds. I know I’m a little older, but don’t let that fool you, I’m full of energy, healthy, and love to go on walks. I’m very friendly with everyone, cats, kids, dogs, and even a pig! I know sit, speak, shake, and stay. I walk great on a leash. I am fully potty trained and will tell you when I need to go. I prefer to have my own space when I eat, and I don't like sharing my kennel as it's my safe space. Overall I'm the best girl though and I’d love a home and family to spend the rest of my golden years with.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.March 1, 2024, 9:34 pm

Story
Hi, I'm Eko. I'm a young, gorgeous Chocolate Merle Great Dane! I've got a heart full of love. Meeting new people can be a little scary for me, but with patience and kindness, I warm up. I do good with other dogs. I'm a protective girl, so older children might be best. My previous owner says I'm housebroken and not too bad on a leash. They said I do fine with cats, but that I have a tendancy to chase them (so maybe a kitty free home). I'd love a home where I can relax and get plenty of love! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a monthl. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. ##1980798##

Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Myles - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! The name Myles comes from the Latin origin meaning 'soldier' or 'warrior'. A big strong name denoting strength and courage for a big boy like me! I am around 2 years old with a very sweet and goofy personality. I does great with people both tall and small and with the other foster pups here. I love playing and am an active boy that would do great tagging along on all your action packed adventures. I come in at 100lbs, a big boy for sure but that 100lbs is 100% pure love!! Although it does mean that I can jump a fence with little problems so I can't be left outside on my own. I am house and crate trained which is a great bonus for my new family! My beautiful coat is short and sleek, with minimal shedding using a soft bristled brush just a few times a week. And using doggie wipes comes in handy to keep me fresh and clean in between bathes. AND that, you do know, leaves lots of extra time for YOU and ME time, my favoritest time!! If you have a heart big enough for a big boy like me, I will for sure be leaving my paw prints all over it and I'll have you wrapped around my little pinkie...err, guess that'd be little toe in no time at all!! You just need to stop scrolling and fill out my adoption application and I'll take it from there!

Just look at that smile and try not to fall in love. He LOVES to play and run in the backyard. He also enjoys getting out for walks and staying in for snuggles.  Barney does well with the playful resident dog and he is great with kids and is ok with cats although will give chase from time to time. He goes to his kennel very well, he stays in there to sleep at night and during work. He is house trained, although  his queues can be pretty subtle. He can be a bit of a counter surfer as well if left unsupervised.  If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. We accept Credit cards, Debit cards as well as cash. At this time we do not accept checks. Adoption Fees are Non Negotialble. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.   //

Introducing Ares! Smart Loving Charming Courageous  Ares is one half of an extraordinary pair of Great Danes who embody resilience, charm, and boundless love. Ares and his sister, Luna, are ready to embark on a new chapter of their lives with you. This magnificent, white Great Dane has a heart as big as his towering stature. Despite facing life with limited vision and the absence of sound, he has adjusted to life in his foster home well with additional support from his sister. This gentle giant is patiently waiting to shower his forever family with affection. His disability is no obstacle to his spirit or his potential to be a cherished family member. In fact, it's his unique qualities that make him even more endearing. What truly sets this remarkable Great Dane apart is his incredible bond with his sister. Their connection is nothing short of beautiful. These two have a special language of their own, and they lean on each other for support and companionship. Adopting them together will ensure that they continue to thrive in a loving and nurturing home. These two gentle giants can be the perfect addition to your family and can do well in a household with cats and older children. Both dogs are housebroken, crate-trained, and walk well on a leash. Their foster family has also noted they do well during care rides. A physical fence and minimal steps are required due to them having difficulty with hearing and vision. Neither dog has any medical/health concerns, but Ares occasionally requires an ointment for his eye. Are you ready to open your heart and home to this remarkable pair of siblings? If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Ares & Luna’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about them. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process. This awesome duo is currently located in Presque Isle, WI. Since Ares and Luna need to be adopted together, the combined adoption fee is $430.10. ##1579465##

Story
Introducing Luna, Sweetheart Cuddly Playful Goofy Hey there, I'm Luna, and I'm ready to tell you all about myself! When you first meet me, I might seem a bit reserved, but give me some time, and I'll warm right up to you. Once I've established trust, I'll be requesting endless affection and cuddles – I just can't get enough of them! I'm quite playful and enjoy interacting with both humans and other canine friends. Zoomies? Oh, you bet! But don't worry, I'm still obedient when told to play nice. Introductions to new people must be slow for me, with time allowed for decompression. Loud noises can startle me, so a quieter home environment would be best. Ear scratches are the way to my heart, and I've done very well living with older children – teenagers are my jam! However, due to my energy level and sensitivity to loud noises, a home with younger children wouldn't be ideal for me. I can show a dominant personality around other dogs, but I'm also capable of being submissive. I love playing and snuggling with my furry friends, and I'm quite smart, too – I don't get distracted or reactive towards other dogs while on walks. Cats? Oh, they're funny creatures. While I usually ignore them, I've been known to imitate them for some humorous photo opportunities! Now, about my forever home – a physical fence isn't a must, but it's definitely recommended to keep me safe while I play and explore. I'm crate-trained and do very well when my foster family is away, but I can also be trusted with free roam. Although I'm very well-mannered, I might occasionally counter-surf if given the chance. But hey, nobody's perfect, right? I'm housebroken and have mastered commands like come, off, and leave it. Sitting has been a bit of a challenge for me, but I'm working hard on it! I love to bump noses to get attention, and while I tend to get very excited and may jump up at times, I'm also working on reducing this behavior. Walks, attention, toys, and playing with other dogs – those are some of my favorite things. However, I strongly dislike going to the vet and currently wear a muzzle during those visits. In new situations or noisy environments, I might struggle a bit, so I'll need a confident and patient leader who can help me through those times. But don't worry, I'm quite adaptable if given time and proper leadership. I'd love to have a forever home with another dog for me to play with and a family who is home more often than not. I'm very smart and will require mental stimulation to keep me happy. My foster family loves all the goofy ways I sit and lay down. While there are some areas I'll need support in, I'll love you with my whole heart and then some! I'm a wonderful balance of wound-up energy and a couch potato, but I will also make an excellent hiking partner! Due to my life experience before meeting my foster family, it'll be necessary to give me some decompression time when I become part of your family. But don't worry, the rescue can offer guidance/resources on decompression to ensure a smooth transition for Luna and her new family. While Luna may need some decompression time when joining a new family, she's ready to shower her forever family with love, loyalty, and endless cuddles. With patience, understanding, and plenty of adventures, Luna is poised to become the perfect hiking partner and cherished member of your family. If you're looking for a loving and playful companion, please follow one of the two options below. 1. If you have already completed the adoption or foster application process and are an approved adopter/foster with UMGDR, please contact Luna’s Placement Coordinator at courtney@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2. Introducing Thor, Outgoing Couch Potato Affectionate Endearing Hey there, I'm Thor, and I'm excited to share a bit about myself with you! So, let's start with my forever home. While a physical fence isn't a must, it's definitely recommended to ensure my safety. I enjoy being outdoors and even taught myself how to open sliding doors! I'm crate-trained, but honestly, I do pretty well with free roam when my foster family is out. No need to worry about me causing any trouble – I'm a good boy! When it comes to people, I'm fine with all adults. No jumping or rowdiness here – I like to keep it classy. Recently, I was taken to a pet expo, and I must say, I handled it like a champ. Meeting people is fun and all, but sometimes I just need a break to nap and recharge. Now, children – I haven't been around them much in a home environment, but I did well with them at events. Still, due to my size, it's probably best to steer clear of small children. I'm great with other dogs, though. We'll play and have fun, or just cozy up for a nap on the couch together. Cats are a bit of a mystery to me, so slow and structured introductions will be necessary. I am being trained to be consistent with commands, treats are a big help. Sitting when I come in the house from playing,is how I now enter my foster home. No more bolting into the house at 100 miles an hour for me! l also do well coming when called when playing within a fenced yard. If I am in the middle of a nap, I might just SNORE at you instead of listening right away – sorry! Housebroken? You bet! I will let you know by going to the door and maybe a bark, but I usually sleep all night. And when I am really tired or feeling overwhelmed, I might get a little grumpy with other dogs in my face, but if I just lay down and take a rest it doesn't take me long to be ready to socialize. I do sometimes bark in the house when I hear a noise outside, but I calm down quickly when reassured.  Meeting my humans for pets and hugs when they come home, going on walks (with other dogs or just my humans), playing with toys, and taking naps are a few of my favorite things. Health-wise, I've had a UTI infection before, but it was treated with antibiotics. I also have eyelashes that turn inward, but no treatment is needed – just keeping an eye on them to make sure they aren’t causing me issues. I’m ready to find my forever home and think I'd make a great companion for a family! With his gentle nature and loving personality, Thor is sure to make a wonderful companion for a family seeking a loyal and affectionate pet. Whether he's enjoying a leisurely walk, snuggling on the couch, or simply basking in the company of his humans, Thor is sure to bring joy and happiness to his forever home. If you are ready to welcome Thor into your home, please reach out to us by following one of the two options below. 1. Introducing Nox, Goofy Affectionate Energetic Resilient Hey there, I'm Nox, but my friends like to call me Noxy Noodle! Let me tell you a bit about myself. While a physical fence isn't a must for my forever home, I should always be leashed when we're out and about. I'm crate-trained and feel most comfortable when my other doggy pals are nearby. Being crated for up to 6 hours is no problem for me, and I've got the whole housebroken thing down too. Now, as for my personality, I'm a people lover through and through. As a former stray, my past is a bit of a mystery, but one thing's for sure – I adore everyone I meet. Seriously, I'll walk right up to you and lean my whole body against you for pets. People always say how incredibly sweet I am, and I can't argue with that! Currently, I'm living it up with some other Great Danes and even hit up a structured dog daycare regularly. I'm a bit of a derpy, rough play partner with my big friends, but I thrive when I'm around playful or tolerant dogs. Cats are a bit of a question mark for me, but I'm doing well with the "leave it" and "back" commands. When it comes to commands, I came in with zero knowledge, but I've been a quick learner. I now know sit, down, leave it, come, back, gentle, kennel, and stay. Grooming? No problem – baths and ear cleanings are right up my alley, though I'm still warming up to nail trims. Leash manners are a work in progress, but I do best with a slip lead. In new places, I can be a little shy at first, but with some repeated exposure and positive experiences, I warm up quickly. I'm an excellent "supervisor" and would happily follow you around the house everywhere you go. You'll never be alone with me around! Food and treats are my absolute favorite, which makes training a breeze. I love napping on the couch with my pals, and cuddling up in bed with my foster mom. Now, about those front legs – they might look a bit different, but they haven't slowed me down one bit. The vet says I likely had some damage to my growth plates when I was younger, but I'm doing just fine. I'd do well in a home with large breed experience, especially if there's a playful or tolerant dog friend for me to romp around with. I've come a long way from being an emaciated stray, and I've got so much love to give to my forever family. Nox would thrive in a loving and attentive home with large breed experience. He'd love to have a playful dog friend to wrestle and play tag with. Nox is ready to embark on the next chapter of his journey with a family who will cherish him unconditionally. If you are ready to welcome Nox into your home, please reach out to us by following one of the two options below. 1. Story
Great Scott! Stop looking at those other dogs profiles and take a peak at mine I say! The name is Sir Gregor, very exquisite one might say, and I am quite the deal! I am a large YOUNG adult Mastiff and I've come looking for a family who wants a dog that'll make a big splash! At only 15 months old I am tipping the scales at 130# of love and a little drool :) Oh, who am I kidding, a LOT of drool! But Mastiff lovers KNOW that drool is part of the deal :D I came from a nice family who didn't realize that even though I am a big softie at heart, I am a Mastiff and with that comes a protective side that needs to be managed... So I took over their house. What is wonderful about dogs is that in a new environment (like the rescue) I take cues from my new family and this rescue family has definitely dropped my status from protector to friend and silly boy!! So, you must know the breed to adopt me. And be strong leaders. I love love kids and am great with other dogs too! I just wanna snuggle up all day and watch tv, I have a great energy and you better just hurry up and adopt me!! Local adoption fee is $400 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $800 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
