I’m very friendly with everyone, cats, kids, dogs, and even a pig! I know sit, speak, shake, and stay. I walk great on a leash. I am fully potty trained and will tell you when I need to go. I prefer to have my own space when I eat, and I don't like sharing my kennel as it's my safe space. My name is Helena, and I’m a 4-month-old Great Dane weighing in at 27 pounds. Don’t let my size fool you—I’m going to grow into a big girl, probably over 100 pounds one day! Right now, I’m eating 3 cups of food a day, but that will likely double as I grow. I may come off as shy and a bit nervous, but I’m gaining confidence every day. I love following my foster sister’s lead and have even learned how to “sit” just by watching her! I’m a quick learner and very treat motivated. I can be a bit stubborn and like to do things on my terms, but I have plenty of toys and bones to keep me busy. I’m goofy, a little clumsy, and very laid back. I enjoy playing and snuggling with my humans and other pups, but I can also play independently if needed. I was once a stray, so potty training has taken some time, but I’m getting the hang of it. I now sleep through the night in my crate without accidents and haven’t had one in over a week! I do have some separation anxiety and tend to bark when left alone in my crate during the day. I use my loud voice to tell everyone to hurry up and get home so we can play some more. While I am learning how to walk nicely on a leash, a fenced yard isn’t required, but I would really appreciate it! I get along well with children under 12 years old, but I can be a bit clumsy and forceful, so I need to learn some manners. My people said that I would benefit from puppy training and that I’ll learn quickly with a brother or sister in the house to take cues from. I love playing with balls, stuffed toys, and bones. I like to pile them all in my bed and then sit on them—it’s pretty funny! I’m a typical puppy and get into everything, but I’m also a cuddle bug who aims to please. My foster mom describes me as a sweetheart with floppy ears, wrinkles, and long legs. It’s important for my future family to be familiar with Great Danes. While I’m a puppy now, I’ll grow into a big dog with specific needs. Feeding quality food, understanding health concerns like Wobblers, Bloat, and hip dysplasia, and being prepared for the costs of owning a giant breed are essential. Hi! I'm Louis. I bet you are already wondering if I'm deaf and vision impaired due to my beautiful white coat. I am - but I don't know that. I'm a 1 year old neutered male. Currently in my foster home, I am living with 3 female Danes and 2 teenage human kids. It's great here - I love playing with the other dogs and the kids are pretty great too. My foster mom and dad are teaching me new things. I'm learning but still have a hard time avoiding that stuff they call human food on the counter. I am house trained and am working on kennel training. My foster mom says I would do well with someone who is home more often than not. I'm not a candidate for someone living in an apartment or townhouse as I make a lot of noise in my kennel. If the humans leave, I have to go to my kennel to make sure I'm safe and don't get into anything i shouldn't. I sleep on a dog bed at night but I would really love to snuggle with you and sleep in your bed. A fenced yard for me would be fantastic too so I stay safe. Hey there, I am Gordy aka Gordon (when I’m not listening) and Gordito Crunch (when my foster mama is playing with me)! I am an almost 3 year old Great Dane/Great Pyrenees mix. That just means I’m extra great of course!  I have the Great Dane height and body but a Great Pyrenees head with the Pyrenees shedding.  I was originally surrendered as a puppy due to having special back legs. I was adopted to a wonderful family but recently was surrendered back to rescue because I can be a strong personality. I get that from the Great Pyrenees side.  I love hard and love attention from my humans but don’t enjoy people I don’t know initially. I take my job of guarding the home seriously and need my humans to communicate and prove to me that they can control and protect the house so I don’t have to worry about it.  I recently spent a month with a really nice lady who taught me really fun things like walking well on leash, a strong place command, heel, come and all of the other skills I need to be a well mannered boy.  I really love to play with toys and other dog friends as long as they are not dominant. I’m a total goofball but have shown resource guarding over food with other dogs. I prefer to eat my food and bones in my kennel.  I really love my kennel. I sleep there at night and when my foster parents are gone. I will counter surf if left unattended.  Remember how I was surrendered as a puppy due to having special legs? Well, I still have special back legs. I was born with slightly twisted femurs so I walk a bit differently and have arthritis in my back knees. I love to run and play but can be sore after playing all day long so I occasionally take gabapentin to help. I also require daily joint supplements to help my bones stay healthy.  I currently take anxiety meds daily. I have been on these since I was young to help with my desire to protect the home. These meds cost about $90 for a 90 day supply so any future adopter needs to be able to continue to pay for regular medications.  Foster Mama Here: Gordy is the bestest boy. We fostered him when he was a puppy as well. We do not let him greet visitors at our house and require him to stay on his bed in a “place” while visitors are here. He is also happy to stay in his kennel. He does like to meet people slowly and at a good pace. Once he knows and trusts you he will forever welcome you as a family member of his.  Gordy has so much potential and loves so hard. But he will require owners who can set strict boundaries in the home and hold him accountable. His breed and genetics make him want to protect his home and people but if you a set boundaries he is such a great listener.  We walk him on a prong collar and he is eCollar trained. His adopters will need to commit to continued use of these training tools and also meeting with his board and train trainer to learn about everything he knows.  Gordy loves the snow and playing outside. His favorite is his doggy pool in the summer. We have 4 other dogs in our home and he plays with all of them.  Gordy lived with kids in his first home. He was very protective over them so we do not recommend he go to a home with children under the age of 12. He has been thriving with a farm life and would do best outside of the city. ##954057##

Hi, I'm Cinder! I'm a tall 1.5 year old Great Dane! My foster mom says that I'm a really good puppy. I think she means that I'm really easy going and not always full of the devil for my age. She also tells me all the time that I'm a very good girl. I'm friendly with everybody and I'm always happy. I can be talkative at times but I'm not sassy. I am perfectly potty trained. I sleep on my dog bed but really would prefer to cuddle with my people in bed. I am currently living with 2 special needs female Danes, 2 kiddos 11 & 15, and my foster mom and dad. I have a medical condition called mega esophagus. It's really not too bad and my foster mom is helping me manage it. I take some medication for it, she soaks my kibble in water, feeds me from a raised feeders, and she even makes me treats made from jello because I can't tolerate crunchy treats. I probably won't grow out of this condition but I don't think it will get any worse. I would like a friend to play with in my new home and maybe even a kiddo or two. Hi there! I'm Loki! I'm almost 4 years old and I'm the goofiest, most fun, totally wild, Great Dane! I was the jumper, and I'm a big boy, so they sent me off to training. I still like to jump up at my foster mama but she reminds me that she's the boss and I gotta keep "4 on the floor". I just want to show her how much I lover her is all. I love playing with other dogs, and I really love affection from my humans. I'd prefer a fenced in yard to run in, and maybe an active home to keep my busy body moving! I do need a calmer home though, I'm a total scardy cat when it comes to new things. OMG I saw my foster mom picking shows on her smart tv and boy that was scary, all of those boxes suddenly just move. I told her to just pick a show already. Because of my jumpy nature and skiddish demeanor,  I need a home with no kiddos. In fact, kiddos are one of the reasons I'm here. The kids in my old home were wrestling, and I wasn't about that, so I got in the middle of it to protect my human brother and snipped at a kiddo. I'd like to say "i'll never do that again", but the crew around here puts in all the extra caution. I am crate trained, AND completed a full board and train program so I know my commands, what is expected of me, can handle the vet if you guide me, and am a perfect walker. Hi! I'm Hank! I'm from Kentucky! From his foster: Meet Hank! Hank is a loyal and loving Dane. He is a big goof who is content lounging on the couch all day with you, but also enjoys a stroll around the neighborhood. He is sweet and gentle towards my resident cat and strangers. He loves to nudge his head against his humans and will take over your entire couch or bed. He already knows sit, stay, and paw. Hank walks great on a leash, but due to his size and strength, he does slightly pull when he is excited. He loves to greet people on our walks, but displays some "stranger danger towards certain dogs. He does not lunge or growl, but will bark at the dog. For this reason, we have been avoiding interaction with other dogs. He is working hard on his leash training and reactivity, and responds well to positive reinforcement! Hank has not met any children yet, but I would imagine that he would do well with them given his calm demeanor. However, since he is a big boy, he has the ability to accidentally knock them over. He gets along well with cats, but would be best suited in a home with no other dogs. Hank can also be quite the escape artist from time to time. When trying to walk out the door, Hank will do his very best to put his head between you and the door so that he can get out and explore. Hank is a joyful boy who is on the search for his furever home. Hi there, my name is Scooby. I’m about 7 months old and am looking for a permanent family. I’m up to date on all of my shots and am kennel trained. I was a service dog in training and I love positive attention. My favorite thing is to be around people and play!! I enjoy car rides and going on walks. This girl was brought back to the shelter due to her owner no longer being able to take care of her. She is now in a foster home and doing great. She is housebroken, was crate trained. She gets along with other dogs and cats. She has a very laid back attitude but loves to play! She is a chewer, as puppies are, and likes to get into that kind of mischief. She is a great dog and was in a house with young kids. She just needs a new family to play with.
