Story
Sam (FKA Pan) Is Available For Adoption!🩵 This precious dog was abandoned by his owner & very sad when he was rescued. Since being in a loving foster home, he's much happier. He absolutely adores people & has become somewhat of a velcro dog.🥰 His foster mom says, "He has the sweetest habit: he gently hides himself behind the shower curtain and lies there waiting for us to brush our teeth or whatever. It seems like he feels safe there. Such a cutie.💜 He is truly a lovely dog!" Sam (Pan) has been examined by a vet & other than being underweight from not being fed properly, he's a healthy boy! He's been vaccinated, dewormed & heartworm tested negative. He is neutered & he's approx 8 years of age. He's still underweight at 92 lbs, but eating better every day! Sam is the most gentle-natured giant. He's wonderful with all animals & kids. He enjoys being outside with whoever wants to hang out. He likes to play with other dogs too! (See video) He'd make an amazing companion. Please consider giving him a forever where he can live out his golden years surrounded by love.💞 🎶Watch Sam's music video--> https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1EZgBNQh5B/ For more videos & pictures, please reach out! Story
Phoenix is a stunning female Great Dane with a gentle spirit and a resilient heart. She’s the kind of girl who carries a quiet strength—steady, observant, and always ready to connect once she feels safe and secure in her surroundings. Phoenix currently has a small growth that will need to be removed and a slight cherry eye, both of which are manageable and being addressed as part of her continued care. She is also underweight and will need a family committed to helping her gain healthy condition through proper nutrition and patience. Despite her needs, Phoenix’s temperament shines through beautifully. She gets along wonderfully with all dogs and enjoys calm, respectful canine companionship. She is social in a balanced way—not overly pushy, just content to be part of the pack and share space peacefully. Because of her curiosity and active nature, Phoenix requires a minimum 6-foot securely fenced yard. She is still learning boundaries and will do best in a home where safety and structure are a priority, especially during her adjustment period. Phoenix is ready for a fresh start—one filled with stability, care, and the kind of love that helps her truly thrive. Perfect Home for Phoenix Secure 6-foot fenced yard (required) Patient adopters willing to help her gain healthy weight Can live with other dogs of any size with proper introductions A calm or moderately active environment where she can settle in and build confidence People who understand that she’s still a work in progress and worth every bit of effort Phoenix is not broken—she’s simply unfinished. With the right home, she’s going to bloom into a beautiful, confident girl who finally gets to feel safe, strong, and loved. Please spread the word to help Phoenix find her forever family! Story
Meet Chandler — a strikingly handsome, extra tall Great Dane with a larger-than-life personality to match his size. This big boy is strong, confident, and carries himself with an alpha presence, so he will need an experienced Great Dane owner who understands giant breeds and can provide the structure, leadership, and consistency he thrives under. Chandler is still learning the finer points of social skills and playtime with other dogs. He absolutely wants to play and interact, but because of his size and strength, he can be rough and overenthusiastic while figuring things out. He does best with medium and large dogs who can match his energy and help guide appropriate play behavior. Small dogs are not a good fit simply because Chandler is unaware of just how big he truly is. This handsome guy already knows “sit” and “stay,” and he responds well to guidance, but he will continue to need ongoing training and boundaries to help him become the very best version of himself. Chandler is smart and eager, but like many young giant breeds, he can become destructive if left unattended and uncrated. A secure crate setup while his humans are away is a must for him. Despite his strong personality, Chandler has a loving side and enjoys being part of the family. He gets along well with cats and enjoys companionship from both humans and canine friends. With patience, leadership, continued training, and plenty of love, Chandler has all the potential to mature into an incredible lifelong companion. Chandler’s perfect home would be with a confident, experienced Dane owner who appreciates big personalities, understands the importance of structure and training, and is ready to invest the time needed to help this gentle giant continue learning and growing. In return, Chandler will offer loyalty, companionship, and plenty of unforgettable Great Dane moments. Please spread the word to help Chandler find his forever family! Share this post, tag your friends, and let's make sure he finds a family that will play with and give him all the love he deserves. Story
Meet Haven — a beautiful blue Great Dane puppy with a heart full of love and a playful spirit that keeps life entertaining! Though she may be smaller in size for a Dane, Haven has plenty of personality packed into her petite frame. Like many typical Blue Danes, she is incredibly people-oriented and wants to be involved in everything her humans are doing. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow and constant companion, Haven is ready for the job. Haven is currently with small dogs and enjoys having a canine companion around to play and interact with. She is a happy, playful puppy who is still learning all the important “big dog” manners and will need continued training, guidance, and consistency as she grows. She’s eager for attention, loves affection from her people, and thrives when she feels included in the family. This sweet girl is good with kids and has the fun-loving, goofy personality that makes Great Dane puppies so easy to adore. Haven loves to play, explore, and soak up every bit of attention she can get. As with any puppy, she will benefit from continued socialization, structure, and positive reinforcement to help her become the amazing adult Dane she’s meant to be. Haven is looking for a family that understands puppy energy, appreciates the affectionate nature of Blue Danes, and is ready to invest time into training, love, and companionship. In return, she’ll give endless loyalty, entertainment, and lots of oversized puppy affection. Please spread the word to help Haven find her forever family! Story
Meet our newest DSDA puppy… Rosie! At just 9 weeks old and about 15 pounds, this gorgeous Anatolian Shepherd mix has a lot of growing left to do. She’s incredibly sweet and smart, loves being near her people, and has already fallen head over paws for her foster brother, Frank.  She loves going on outings with her people! She has stopped by Home Depot to help foster dad with some projects, the park to chat with her fans, and the local pet store, Hollywood Feed, for good sniffs and a bath. Rosie is treat motivated, so she is a quick learner. She has already mastered "sit" and "down"! She has also been walking very well on a leash. Rosie’s story started in a Dallas mechanic shop, where she was born after her mom rejected the litter. One of the shop owners never gave up trying to find help for this sweet girl, and a Good Samaritan stepped in to get her to safety. After a much-needed bath (actually two!), a full belly, and a safe place to rest, it was clear Rosie was ready for a fresh start. Then Robert & Patty opened their home to foster her and gave her the perfect name: Rosie! A nod to her mechanic shop beginnings and the iconic Rosie the Riveter.   To meet Rosie in person, visit us at www.dsda.org/adopt and submit our online adoption application.  ADOPTION FEE Covers: Core vaccines plus Lepto and Flu, all boosters, microchip, dewormer until clear fecal test & spay or neuter when completed by a DSDA vet partner plus any necessary medical care.  All dogs are on flea, tick and heartworm prevention and you receive the following month's preventatives complementary with your adoption!  * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.  Must be home more than not. Vet checks are required! All resident pets in the applicant's home MUST be spayed or neutered, core vaccines up to date and dogs on heartworm prevention to be considered! No exceptions.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting. Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet. Must have a secure fence if in a house. All poisonous plants must be removed from the yard.  DSDA is located in Dallas and requires a home visit on every adoption so only adopt to Dallas and surrounding areas. ##2785296##
