We gave this gem of a girl the name of Pearl - pearl because she is precious, even though her former owner didn't think so. Pearl and her brother (already adopted) were left behind by their owner when they moved. They were just discarded and left to fend for themselves after being used to having a family. It's still hard for us to understand why people would do this. Luckily we were able to find Pearl and a wonderful temporary foster. Pearl is a pyrenees mix who the vet estimates to be about 5 years old. She weighs 53 pounds. Pearl has received her vaccinations and has tested negative for heartworm. She was treated for anaplasmosis and has been spayed. The vet trimmed her toenails while she was under sedation (for the spay). Poor girl - they had grown so long that they deeply embedded themselves into her paw pads. But she's all healed now. Now that she is receiving proper care and attention we just need to find her a forever home. She is described as being a calm, super sweet, wonderful, and friendly girl. Beautiful Betsy is an 18-month-old purebred Great Pyrenees who truly lives up to her name. At 85 pounds, she’s a stunning girl with a heart to match—gentle, affectionate, and full of quiet sweetness. Betsy recently lost the only family she has ever known due to circumstances beyond her control. A divorce forced her devoted human mom and four children to move into a small home without a yard, and with great love and heartbreak, her mom chose what was best for Betsy’s future rather than holding onto her. Betsy is very familiar with family life and has been raised around children, other dogs, and even cats. She once had four puppies of her own and showed nothing but tenderness and devotion as a mother, which speaks volumes about her nurturing nature. While she has not been used as a livestock guardian—and we do not want that life for her—she is perfectly suited for a home where she can enjoy both indoor comfort and outdoor space. Betsy dreams of a soft place to nap, a couch to share, and evenings spent lounging nearby as you snack and unwind, happily serving as a fluffy pillow or loyal movie companion. She walks nicely on a leash, has good house manners, and can be crated for reasonable periods, though she should not be left confined for long workdays. Betsy travels well in the car and would make a wonderful road-trip partner. Like the classic Great Pyrenees, she has a calm, happy demeanor and a peaceful presence that fills a home with warmth. We are hoping to find Betsy a stable, loving forever home with a securely fenced yard, ideally half an acre or more, where she can stretch her legs and enjoy the outdoors safely. &#226&#156&#168 Meet Iris – your future best friend! &#226&#156&#168 Iris is our sweet foster girl born around November 5th to an Amish breeder farm and we took over her care when she was 8 weeks old. Often when puppies have not been sold at eight weeks, they will either euthanize them or offer them to a rescue to take. We jumped at the trance to help three puppies that they no longer saw fit to keep. They were not in tip top shape at all, but they are now. Iris arrived a little bit scared and shy, but she now is the happiest, most curious soul. She’s independent but loves being around her humans, always wanting to be part of the action. here is what her adoring foster mom, Jennifer has to say about her 'Iris is so playful, a ton of fun and super cute. She fits right into our household routine faster than we expected. Iris gets along wonderfully with all of our dogs and absolutely adores our 10-year-old son, making her a fantastic candidate for a family home. While she’s happy and well-behaved in her crate (she sleeps there overnight and does great when we leave the house). Iris definitely prefers lounging out in the house when you’re home—close to her people. She just wants to be where you are. Sylvia is deeply people-oriented and thrives on connection. She wants to be wherever her humans are, involved in whatever they’re doing, watching closely and making sure she’s not missing a thing. She has no hesitation about expressing her feelings and will gently but clearly let you know when she expects attention, affection, or reassurance. Grooming time is one of her greatest joys, and she soaks up brushing, petting, and pampering as if it were her rightful due. Playtime brings out her youthful sparkle. Balls and squeaky toys are her absolute favorites, and she delights in engaging both people and other dogs with her friendly, confident nature. Sylvia approaches new humans and canine friends with ease, showing no shyness and a naturally social heart. Maja is a nine-month-old Great Pyrenees girl with long legs, a tender heart, and the kind of calm beauty that makes you slow down just by being near her. Currently about 70 pounds and still underweight, she’s growing into the majestic dog she was always meant to be, with an expected adult size around 90 pounds. Her name, Maja, is Swedish for “beautiful girl,” and it fits her perfectly—inside and out. Her early life wasn’t what it should have been. She came from a farming family who could no longer care for her and chose to let her wander rather than protect her. When she was found and the owners declined to take her back, Maja found herself in a shelter, quietly waiting. Critter Cavalry Rescue saw her gentle spirit and stepped in, placing her with a foster family experienced with Great Pyrenees who immediately recognized what a rare and lovely soul she is. Maja is everything people adore about her breed—easygoing, calm, and deeply gentle. She moves through life with a soft presence, never destructive, never demanding, just quietly grateful to be included. Having never lived indoors before January 22, everything is new to her, and she’s taking it all in with grace. House training is a work in progress, but she’s learning at her own steady pace, and her foster family is helping her understand what life inside a home feels like. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and is currently living peacefully with a cat, enjoying the comfort of companionship. Maja loves belly rubs and couch cuddles, and she’s already figured out that being close to her people is one of life’s greatest joys. She enjoys the outdoors, as Great Pyrenees do, but happily comes inside when invited, content to settle in and relax. Toys are a brand-new concept for her, and watching her discover play has been nothing short of heart-melting. She has started offering gentle play bows and exploring what it means to have fun with her humans. True to her breed, she has a touch of independence and occasional selective listening, but it’s wrapped in kindness and calm, never chaos. Maja is tall, elegant, and exceptionally kind in her interactions with people, children, and other animals. She carries no emotional scars from her past—just an open heart and a quiet readiness to belong. Ms. Lady is a gorgeous Great Pyrenees mix who is super sweet, friendly with people and dogs and who would probably would be fine with cats because of her easy-going disposition. She is crate trained and housetrained but could use more leash training - she is rarely leashed as she has a big beautiful backyard to run around in her foster home in Texas! She is very low maintenance, low to medium energy, and is in a foster home with 30 other dogs - she had that easy going, typical Pyr personality. Lady is about 4 years old and weighs 68 pounds. She is already fully vetted and she's healthy, heartworm negative, has no tick borne diseases and is on monthly preventatives, etc. Lady is just happy to be in a home where someone is treating her well and she does not have to worry about where her next meal is coming from. She came into a Texas shelter with another Pyr mix (possibly her brother) - both were owner surrendered because the owners were letting them run loose and they did not want to pay the fine. The brother went to a local Austin rescue and Lady is now with NorthStar.
