Story
Ms. Lady is a gorgeous Great Pyrenees mix who is super sweet, friendly with people and dogs and who would probably would be fine with cats because of her easy-going disposition. She is crate trained and housetrained but could use more leash training - she is rarely leashed as she has a big beautiful backyard to run around in her foster home in Texas! She is very low maintenance, low to medium energy,  and is in a foster home with 30 other dogs - she had that easy going, typical Pyr personality. Lady is about 4 years old and weighs 68 pounds. She is already fully vetted and she's healthy, heartworm negative, has no tick borne diseases and is on monthly preventatives, etc.   Lady is just happy to be in a home where someone is treating her well and she does not have to worry about where her next meal is coming from. She came into a Texas shelter with another Pyr mix (possibly her brother) - both were owner surrendered because the owners were letting them run loose and they did not want to pay the fine. The brother went to a local Austin rescue and Lady is now with NorthStar. If you've always wanted to have a Great Pyrenees in your family, just fill out an application at www.northstarpets.org and ask to meet this sweet and gentle gal! The adoption fee for Ms. Lady will be $425. March 7, 2026, 1:56 pm

Remi is a 4.9-year-old, 60 lb super mutt who has sadly lost the only home she’s ever known. She’s a mix of many breeds and is full of love and loyalty. Remi adores people, including kids, and plays well with dogs her size or larger, but small dogs aren’t a good fit for her. She’s obedient, eager to please, and affectionate, making her a wonderful companion. Remi is also house trained and ready to find her forever family. If you’re looking for a sweet, loving dog to join your home, Remi is waiting! Apply at EHRDOGS.ORG. Story
Hi, I'm Anna. A 5yo, 80lbs Pyr mix of love. I lived with a family, a young boy, & 2 small dogs that loved me but the family had some hard times & couldn't take me with them when they had to move. I love children & I’m basically a big, furry couch potato. I'm extremely gentle, but I like to guard my family by warning people I am there. Squirrels & birds are my sworn enemies. I love to go outside on walks, but car rides are new to me, so I get motion sick & can’t go very far. When I’m on a walk I sometimes bark at other dogs, but they usually bark first. I need to be spayed & tested for heartworm, but people are helping me get that done. I am fully housetrained & when you offer me a treat (peanut butter inside my kong is my favorite!) I'm super gentle. I enjoy getting brushed & I'm not afraid of the vacuum - I actually love when you vacuum my fluffy fur. I would love a home where everyone gives me lots of attention & just wants to love on me. I'll always choose pets over treats.

Story
Sweetheart is the kind of dog who doesn’t demand attention, but somehow ends up with your whole heart anyway. At 5 months old, this tall and graceful Great Pyrenees girl is still growing into her destiny to be a possible 80 pounds girl.  She is currently  28 pounds and expected to become a stunning adult. Her name means “beautiful girl,” and it suits her not just because of her looks, but because of the calm, loving way she moves through the world. Her life didn’t begin with comfort or consistency. She was originally bought to be a guardian dog for a farm in rural Tennessee. Placed outside with no real interaction from the owner, she was with another older Great Pyr who was already working the farm.  Out of boredom, Sweetheart, started chasing the cows on the property.  This was infuriating and unacceptable to the farmer/owner and so he threatened to shoot her. The local shelter in that county asked Critter Cavalry Rescue to take her in to foster care before her life was ended so tragically.  When CCR rescue stepped in, she arrived shy but has quickly blossomed in to a calm and gentle soul that loves children and likes meeting new adults. That alone says everything about the kind of soul she has. Now in a foster home experienced with Great Pyrenees,  she is quietly blossoming. She had never lived indoors before, yet she’s settling in with remarkable ease. She isn’t destructive, doesn’t seek chaos, and seems content simply being near her people. House training is still new to her, but she’s learning steadily, trying her best in a world that is still very new. Sweetheart is wonderfully social in a calm, respectful way. She lives peacefully with other dogs and a cat, enjoying the comfort of shared space and gentle companionship. She adores belly rubs and has discovered the joy of stretching out beside her humans on the couch, soaking in affection as if she’s always known it was meant for her. She loves the outdoors, but she also listens when it’s time to come inside, happily choosing closeness over freedom. Toys are still a novelty, and watching her figure them out—offering soft play bows and tentative curiosity—is a reminder of how much joy she still has ahead of her. Like many Great Pyrenees, she has a thoughtful, independent streak, but it’s paired with kindness and an unshakable calm. Sweetheart is gentle with children, respectful with other animals, and carries herself with a quiet dignity that feels grounding just to be around. She has no bitterness from her past, only an open heart and a peaceful presence. She will be the kind of dog who brings comfort on hard days and calm on busy ones, the kind who makes a house feel like a home. She is good on a leash and doesn't pull which is remarkable. Sweetheart is ready for a family who values gentleness, patience, and quiet love. She needs a fenced yard and is not a good condo or apartment candidate.  Just not the lifestyle that a Great Pyrenees can thrive in. She isn’t flashy—she’s something better. She’s the kind of dog you’ll wonder how you ever lived without.  Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.   Please let us know where you live.  We adopt out of state to the northeastern states as well here in Nashville, Tn where the rescue is based.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 12, 2026, 5:24 pm

Story
Marilyn is one of  many Tennessee stories that tends to haunt the Great Pyrenees breed that is given the task to protect and defend the flocks of a farmer. They are expected to give their life to defend the predators that tend to pray on flocks of farm animals in the dark of night.  What happens to these giants of gentleness and tender nature,  are that they are left with little medical care, heartworm prevention and appropriate food and monitoring.  Marilyn and her daughter Marlee were seen wondering on a remote Tennessee rural highway and not accepting the kindness of people who tried to approach.  They were scared and wary since people had apparently never been kind to the both of them.  Some determined rescue warriors made it their mission to win these two beautiful females over and to hopefully bring them in to a foster home and a rescue who would sponsor them.  It finally happened and Marilyn and Marlee were captured and drive to a wonderful small farm nearby who was owned by an experienced rescue lady.  Now Marilyn and her daughter are spayed  and will be ready for the caring homes that they deserve.    What we see in the personality of this beautiful white 5 year old angel called Marilyn, is that she is about 67 pounds and has many of the attributes of the Pyrenees breed. She is alert and watching and she knows when you are moving around doing chores and will come find you to stay close and oversee your work. We know that this girl will easily learn how to be a family companion who can trust that her humans do not need supervision during the day.  Marilyn is very sweet and loves pats and scratches. Her demeanor is calm and easy going as she patrols fences and checks out her indoor space.  We want this girl to relax and accept her new role of family companion.  If you are interested please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 12, 2026, 5:24 pm
