Story
We are thrilled you have taken the time to look at Sophie who is a fabulous dog!  She has so much to offer as a companion pet.  Three year old Sofie does well on a leash, knows sit and will crate up for you. We believe she was housebroken before coming into rescue which is always a bonus!  She likes to play with boy dogs but really doesn’t love female dogs which is pretty normal.  She weighs in at around 65 pounds which means there is a whole lot of dog to love for sure!  Sophie loves to go on car rides and adventures which makes her super fun! Or she is happy to chill inside with her people.  True to the large breed double coated breeds, it does take her awhile to cuddle with unfamiliar humans but once you are accepted, game on!  We think you will love this large fluff of love!  Sofie loves her car rides and loves to be inside with her people. If you are truly interested in adopting a dog from our rescue, it is best to request an adoption application at STORKWOODS@COMCAST.NET. If you respond via Petfinder, it will slow the process down. Sofie is being fostered in Middle TN but we do have transport available to the NE. We have foster homes in several areas of the country.

Story
Fargo is an 8 year-old Siberian Husky. He's been in the family since he was a puppy. Fargo loves long walks and hikes. He loves to hang out in the backyard, and look for squirrels and birds. He does have a prey drive so we typically have to supervise him when he is outside to make sure he is ok and not up to anything like digging holes or jumping. He also loves to sleep on the couch or on the bed. He has lived with other male dogs and has been good around them. He is food aggressive, so once he let him go to his bowl, we give him his space. This is the same for any large treats like bones or rawhide treats. Fargo is a loving and chill dog, his owner has a pretty busy schedule and he cannot meet his needs anymore. We are hoping we can find him a better home, where he will have space, love and attention.

At heart, I'm a cool and energetic guy who's seen a lot in my young life. Now, I'm on a quest to find the perfect family to call my own. With an abundance of love and vitality, I'm a friendly fellow who gets along with just about everyone. I'm like the ideal side dish to complement your family's recipe for happiness. Story
Hi, my name is Odin and I'm looking for my forever best friend! I've had kind of a rough start and it takes me a little bit of time and patience before I know you're my people. You see, I used to have a family, but I lived in the backyard and one day they moved away and didn't even pack me up! I spent six weeks roaming the streets in the peak of Texas summer, a nice couple fed me burgers but I was wary of people and didn't really want anybody approaching me. The friendly rescue people down the street spent time every day checking on me and talking to me until I finally let them put a leash on me. What a relief when I found out that they had all kinds of yummy treats, two meals a day, and AIR CONDITIONING! I am a grumbly husky with a lot to say and it took me a couple weeks before I would let foster mom pet me without grumbling at her. I am very vocal and I don't love new people in my space, but I always let them know. I also don't like to be grabbed, pushed, lifted, or pulled by strangers. My foster mama is bestest friend in the world though and I love to sit in her lap and lean up on her legs when I see her (I call these Odin hugs). She can even restrain me or pick me up if she wants, I know that she would never ever hurt me. I've been making lots of friends you see, and I'm always so excited to see them! I have a foster auntie and I love her so much when she comes over I'm sure to give her lots of Odin hugs. Slowly, I'm learning that there are more good people than bad people and I'm learning to let my walls down faster and faster. I even go to puppy sitting when my foster mom is out of town, and I LOVE those people too! I'm turning into a regular social butterfly, I just need some time getting to know my new friends before I let them into my heart. The coolest thing about being a rescue dog is being a big foster brother to all the other fosters! I get to show them the ropes, my foster mama finds lots of dogs outside. The resident dogs in this house might not remember their previous lives, but I sure do! I'm a great big foster brother and most of the new fosters really look to me for reassurance. I like to play a little rough and it's hard to find friends who will play at my level. I love to grumble and play growl and sometimes the other dogs get confused by my body language. I've watched a couple of my foster siblings get adopted and go to their furever homes, and I'm still waiting for my turn! My foster mama says she would just keep me but she's hopeful that I'll find my very own people who can share their whole world with me!! Odin is a wonderful dog who needs a little patience before he lets his true temperament shine. He is extremely loyal but would thrive in a home with experienced dog owners as he doesn't like to be grabbed, lifted, or pushed, and responds best to positive and upbeat energy. He's eager to please and with a little patience has learned to go into the crate (where he does an excellent job being quiet and settling down) and into the car. He has a lot of energy and would love an active family to take him hiking, walking, or jogging. Odin is a good weight at 75 pounds,is done with HW treatment, and is about 3 years old. If you bring the patience, respect, and treats, Odin will bring the unwavering love and loyalty! Local adoption fee $200 (in TX)

Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Aries is 3 1/2yo, weighs 60lbs, is an intact male, is not up to date on his vaccines and is not microchipped.  Aries loves to play fetch and loves toys; he also loves to go on walks and hikes.  He knows 'sit', will give paw (both of them), and can high five.  Aries dislikes yelling; he can't be around livestock; although he's traveled with his family, he's not the best in the car. Aries's guardian states the reason for rehoming him:    "While he is ok with our other dogs, he’s always had to fight for attention and we just can’t give him everything he so desperately wants.  He’s a dog that wants your attention 500% of the time and gets jealous very fast.  He MUST go to a family with no other dogs." Aries's guardian offers a brief medical history: "He has almost died twice when he was a puppy. The first time we aren’t completely sure what happened because our other dogs were ok… but he got some type of a toxicity, and seizured his blood work and everything came back fine.  Second time he got into a bunch of walnuts but we were able to get him to the vet fast enough that we had no other issues." Aries's guardian states the following about children:  Aries lives with children, ages 14, 12, and 10 and has lived with them for the past 4 years, so his guardian recommends his living with children (older than toddlers), stating "He absolutely loves children.  He loves to run with them and play.  He does listen to my kids fairly well.  He's not a fan of small toddlers, though; I'm not completely sure why. Aries's guardian states the following about dogs:  Aries currently lives with dogs but his guardian doesn't recommend his living with dogs, stating "He's good with other dogs, but he's a very jealous dog.  I'm sure he would love doggy play dates.  He's not a fan of little dogs (chihuahuas, etc.). Aries's guardian states the following about cats:  Aries lives with cats, so his guardian recommends his living with cats, stating "He's grown up with our cats and really doesn't bother them." Story
*hair blowing in the wind (even though she's indoors)* *unexplained sparkles in the air* *faint heavenly music* Yes, she is me. Chloe. Now that you are blinded by my beauty, let me explain why I am the absolute best girl on the inside too and so deserving of your (and everyone's) undivided adoration. I'm loyal, smart as a whip, and FUN, just to name a few. Unfortunately, I didn't come from the most glamorous beginnings. I was an outdoor doggy with not much interaction from birth and my family also left me behind when they moved. Thus, I wasn't really brought up interacting with you humans or being touched/handled. I've had my quirks while adjusting to being a family dog and will definitely need someone patient and understanding with me. (If you get too touchy right away, I don't like that and will try to protect myself.) However, if you are slow and gain my trust I will HANG on your every move. I have adjusted very quickly in the past with proper introductions to people. Even still, I would probably do best in a home without young children. I'm a lady after all and need time to sniff you out before you get grabby. I am an active girl and love to feel the wind in my hair outdoors too. I run with the speed of light and have a prey drive to sniff out bugs, lizards and more. I also love to play tug of war and fetch with my foster mommy inside. I bounce, bounce, bounce all the time! I am great on leash so walks and hikes would be great for me. Getting my energy out will help me focus on training too. I am very smart and learn quickly, but tend to lose interest if I'm still chock full of go, go, go!! With all of this perfection, all of your pet needs should be fulfilled, right? RIGHT? I hope so because I would do great as an only pet in the home. I have been able to co-exist with dogs at the rescue but I am a bit of a diva in my foster home. I have a domineering personality sometimes and will even mark like a male when I come across another dog's scent in my house. How dare they??? Existing? HERE? (She is otherwise house trained.) Considering that you and I know each other a little better now, you may pet me. Yes, I am very soft, I know. Please keep in mind that I am a Chow/shepherd mix and have hair that will require brushing, maybe even the occasional spa treatment, Swedish massage, 24k gold facials...yeahhhhhhhhhh.... Sorry! I forgot you were here. In all seriousness, once I trust you, I will allow you to brush me out without much fuss. It doesn't need to be daily but I am a rough and tumble kinda gal and can use help keeping my locks flowing and free. I also shed so if I seem to be losing my girlish figure, it's probably just extra hair that needs to be brushed off. I hope you have a strong vacuum. ;) I could go on for days about myself, but I'll stop here. Don't wanna overwhelm you. If you think you are up for the challenge of a total spitfire like me, please feel free to send in an application and foster mommy can tell you more about all of the grandeur that is...CHLOE. Good with dogs,
Story
Hello, my name is Buster... short for Buster Brown... which seems to fit for me ;) I am a gorgeous color- like when you are painting things in school and you mix the burnt orange in with the brown paint- you get ME!!! I appear to be a Chow mix, my fur is medium length and somewhat fluffy and is so soft!! My face looks square and so KISSABLE!! I am about 70# so not a small boy, I know what I want in life. I have the personality of a goofy boy and smart, independent chow as well in that I LOVE my people, but can be a little reserved until I know I love them!! I came to the pound with horrible injuries to my back end, likely the result of a car accident or a drag accident. My legs were in pretty horrible shape and I was unable to walk for the first couple of days. Now my legs are completely healed over and I have totally forgotten why we are even discussing it!! I have a really strong spirit to have gotten through such awful injuries with the sweet countenance I have. I love my people and am pretty good with other dogs too. I am great in a crate, on a leash, in a house with a mouse too :) (Dr Seuss is my favorite author!!) I am ready for my forever family, I can be a little nervous with people in my face and would really be best with older kids but everyone else is cool!! Look me up and adopt me, you will never regret it- I will make all your dreams come true!! (ok, you will make MINE come true) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Haku means "pure" in Japanese! I was named for my pure, passionate and overwhelming love for everyone around me! I came to the rescue when my dad was stationed in Japan and heartbroken that he couldn't take me with him. I've missed him so much ever since! Everyday I do the things I did with him with other dogs so I can try and remember what it felt like to be with him! But it's just not the same. So, I'm hoping a new family can come scoop me up and show me what it feels like to be a part of a home and family again! I am good with other dogs, I love playing chase with them or tugging on chew toys. I'll need a happy and active home so that my life will be full of love and fun! I am a bit anxious and nervous around new people, and people in general! Slow introductions, a safe space I can retreat to like a crate and not forcing me into spaces with tons of people will help me be myself all the time! Haku can only be adopted in the local or TX area. Local adoption only, in San Antonio or TX area, $200.
