Story
Name: Greta Sex: Female Estimated Age: About 3 years Best Guess for Breed: Husky/Pomeranian Mix Weight: About 40lbs Lives With: Dogs, ,cats and people! Housebroken? Yes! Story: Greta was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina. We are so happy to have her safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Greta is a sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. Once she gets comfortable with her space and humans, she’d love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Greta is just looking for someone to be her new best furend and we know that she will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all dogs, Greta will need an adopter who is committed to setting her up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising her both mentally and physically. She will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! What my foster says: Greta is a gorgeous husky mix, the best kind - a Pomsky with a wonderful temperament to match!  She is a very loyal and easy dog - just a 40lb cuddle bug!  Greta loves her morning walks and then is happy to settle down for the day and play with her toys or chew on her bones occasionally.  She can be left free in the house with no anxiety or fear of chewing up anything inappropriate!  She really likes playing with other dog friends (and also is great with her cat friends!), but loves her people the most and will follow you around from room to room to show it.  She wants to be your best friend for life!  Greta is great on a leash (no pulling, no reactivity to other dogs!) and gets excited to go on any adventure with you.  She is a little shy meeting new people and in new situations but will settle down once she feels the situation is safe.  She is still very friendly, and easy to take anywhere you might want to go!  Greta does fine in a crate for shorter periods of time, but all day in a crate, even with a dog walker makes her very anxious.  Consequently she will need an owner who is home more often than not to keep her happy.  Greta is house trained and tries her hardest to make you happy.  She’s a super sweet girl who is just looking for a family to love her! The fee to adopt Greta is $475. That covers the cost of all her vaccines, her spay, the collar she’s wearing, her transport to DC and her care in his foster home. She’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. Greta has been seen by a shelter vet and was given a clean bill of health. If you think that Gret might be your perfect match, apply today!July 6, 2025, 9:58 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Thank you for your interest in a Home At Last Sanctuary, Inc. animal.  STOP!!! READ!! The ENTIRE DESCRIPTION before you inquire. Do not call, email, txt, send an inquiry through any other website complete our online application FIRST. http://hals.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=3016 Visit our official website(s) here HomeAtLastSanctuary.ORG or HALS.RescueGroups.ORG There is a complete our application only. Brody's Rabies Click Here Oftentimes, black and darker colored dogs languish in shelters much longer than lighter colored dogs. There are a lot of reasons for this. Potential adopters often rely on a “first look” with photos rescues and shelters have provided online of individual dogs, and dark colored dogs are more difficult to photograph. Some people may have an aversion towards animals with dark coats based on superstition or personal belief systems. And some people think black and dark colored dogs look more menacing than they actually are because their dark faces make it harder to read their facial expressions.  Unfortunately, these stigmas translate into real-life adoption rates and a lack of interest in these beautiful pups who deserve homes.  TAKE A SECOND LOOK AT BRODY We estimate Brody was born around October 2019. Please see attached file BrodyDogFactsReport.PDF to see exactly what mix of breeds is in Brody’s DNA.  We also ran the DNA Health assessment to see if there are any health risks based on his DNA. This will give a lot of insight to prospective adopters. What it will not tell you is what it is like living with Brody.  Brody came into the care of Home At Last Sanctuary October 2023 as an owner surrender.  He was adopted in Atlanta GA, after a few months moved to Boston MA, after a few months moved to Silver Spring MD with the parents of the adopter.  The person that adopted Brody moved once again to Los Angeles CA and left Brody behind. Brody was extremely insecure and was very reactive to other dogs on the walk and out in public.  He is doing much better and will need someone willing and able to continue nurturing confidence in Brody.  Brody has found comfort in a regular routine.  He knows where he fits in.  He is a very affectionate and loving dog. As of now, April 2025, Brody has share his foster home with eight other foster dogs.  Five have been adopted and he lives with two other dogs now.  There are links below to videos and photos of Brody and you can see him interact with the other dogs. He weighs about 37 pounds, is healthy, active, and playful dog.  He likes attention and will snuggle in for giving and getting love and attention.   He is good with other dogs after proper introduction.  He would not likely do well with cats.   He has not been evaluated around children.  It does seem as like he would do will with children that is respectful of dogs boundaries and adequate supervision from adults. Home At Last Sanctuary, Inc. offers certified previously owned dogs to be perfectly matched lifetime companions.  Brody's personal Webpage: Click or copy paste this link https://hals.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19883451 There are photos and videos on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.6624654667615858&type=3 Here is Brody's video playlist on YouTube https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6X5lkFtFSjOW9jfMwgBV9FH6z9x3P0ob&si=rstM6Fxd7yXM3f_m Brody has videos here too: https://www.facebook.com/HalSavesDogs/reels/ Please be aware.  We only place dogs within a one hour drive from Rockville MD.  When we have an approved application Brody will come for a home visit and meet and greet.  We will spend adequate time to determine if this is a good match.  We return another day once the new family has prepared to do an adoption. There are no exceptions. Thank you for understanding.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Story
Meet sweet Cookie! Cookie arrived with her daughter, Oreo, from Texas, and both are ready to find their forever families. Cookie is about 7 years old and 35 lbs of beauty! Cookie is incredible smart and eager to learn. She is good with dogs, cats, and kids. She is house and crate trained. Cookie loves exploring outdoors and her favorite thing is to go on walks. While she enjoys playing with other dogs, she's also very happy to hang out with you while you for your work or watch a movie. Cookie can be a bit shy initially, so she would do best in a home with another dog to help her build her confidence. She'd love a family that will be patient and give her a chance to come around. Once she learns to trust, she'll be your best friend. Cookie is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care.
