Story
Koda originally came to us in January 2023 after she was found as a stray and she was not getting along with the finder's dogs. In the ten months that Koda has been with us, we have seen both the good and bad with her. While we are happy to adopt her out to the right home we would still be open to a rescue taking her into their care so she can continue to work on her behaviors. Koda is very picky about the people she befriends and lets into her space and is available to be visited by those with approved applications only. The kennel environment is stressful for many dogs and unfortunately amplified some of the negatives in Koda's behaviors. While in the kennel or when she is insecure in her environment Koda will guard items that she considers of high-value. In the shelter we have seen that in the form of her toys and her food/water bowls. She does not display these behaviors with staff she has bonded herself to or, generally, when she is away from the other dogs and not in the kennel. Due to these behaviors, any potential adopters will need to have previous experience owning dogs and may be required to visit with Koda more than once before taking her home! Koda cannot go to a home with other dogs, cats or kids. When Koda is comfortable with you, she is a gem of a pup! She LOVES to give kisses and will hop up for hugs and an ear scratch. This two-year-old pup is a huge fan of treats and is always ready for a snack! Koda knows 'sit' and 'leave it' currently. She is an extremely toy and food motivated pup and would love to learn more in her forever home! Her previous adopters did state that she was house-broken and generally a very well-behaved dog outside of her not getting along with their dog. Koda has done fantastic riding in the car for staff and also walks nicely on leash. Stuffed toys or anything that squeaks are her preferred toys to play with while in the yard or hanging out with staff. Koda also enjoys playing in water and would love to go to a home that will let her splash around! Staff knows that with the right home and people, Koda will make a fantastic dog!

Story
"WANTED: An active family willing to teach a young-at-heart dog new tricks and good manners, a family who will take her on exciting adventures to show her new things, and a family who will love her unconditionally."Oh, sorry. I was just writing an ad for the newspaper. I'm Cora, and I'm looking for a new home. My other family let me down, and I don't want that to happen again, so this time things are going to go differently.I'm about five years young, and I'm a bundle of energy! I would make a great running partner, so let's go! I would also be terrific in agility training, which I think sounds like all kinds of fun!I seem to enjoy the company of other dogs, but I'd need to meet my new roomy first before making any commitments. Little children are not a good idea because I jump and jump and jump (that's where the good manner training will help), but kids over twelve should be fine. One thing everyone should know before jumping to conclusions about me - I'm not baring my teeth at you, I'm smiling! Yes, I smile - on command! How cool is that? So there, I already know one trick to show your friends: "Cora, smile"!What breed am I, you're asking? Well, who knows. The shelter staff's best guess is a Husky mix, because I like to howl like a Husky, but I'm really agile and have lots of energy like a Border Collie! It would be fun to do a DNA test and find out for sure! Whatever I am, I'm cute, lovable, and motivated to be a great pet!Are you willing to provide me with what I need, like fresh food and water, vet care, consistent training, and a loving forever home? Then I'll give you an exercise partner, a bed warmer, companionship, and a lifetime of love and devotion. The adoption applications are on the shelter website, so if you still need to submit one, better get started. Once your application has been approved, someone will call you and set up an appointment for us to meet. I think that sounds like an awesome plan, don't you?

Story
ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/12930Hi! My name is Rocky! I'm a Siberian Husky and estimated to be about 4 years old. I’m a sweet guy and I currently weigh about 60 lbs.My foster mom says I have the sweetest personality! I love to be pet and if you let me, I'll even jump up for a hug! I will follow you around the house waiting for the perfect opportunity to get more pets!I'm crate trained and house trained. I know sit, paw, down and come. I take treats very gently, even from the little humans. I like the other dogs here too, especially when they play with me. I am very playful and don't mind playing by myself. I like to throw my stuffy around and play with balls. I walk well on a leash, but I could use some more training because I do pull sometimes. My foster mom thinks I have the perfect amount of energy; enough that I like to play and go for walks, but I know when it's time to calm down too.I’m made my way up north in search of my new family. Is that with you?! If so apply today! I won’t be available long!

Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.

Story
Oreo Cookie is a delightful 6 month old female Husky mix that weighs 32 pounds and destined to be a 40 pound adult girl.  She was an owner surrender because the family was unable to take care of her and she is now sitting in a shelter who is working hard with Critter Cavalry Rescue to find her a wonderful home.  Oreo is a great leash walker and she is so smart and quick to learn commands.  She loves to play with the other pups in the play yard at the shelter and she has demonstrated how much she loves having a yard to play in.  She would welcome anyone that exercises with her or has children to play with her.  Even another dog would be a welcome friend who would enjoy Oreo Cookie.   We see her thriving in a home where she would get interaction and lots of training time with her owners. She would be a great walking, hiking  or jogging partner to active person or couple.  Oreo Cookie is always happy, always wagging her tail and always smiling. We need to make her dreams come true and find her a solid family who will never give her away.   If you are interested in this terrific medium sized girl, please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   She is ready to go! PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.December 2, 2023, 9:50 pm
