Story
Misha was a shelter dog at the MD SPCA. She turns 4 years this November. She is an incredibly sweet and affectionate dog. She loves going for walks and is very food/treat motivated. Otherwise she loves taking long naps and finding weird places to lay around. She has a strong prey drive towards small animals. She is incredibly strong and fast so I would recommend walking tools like easy-walk or gentle leader. She sheds a lot and needs proper and regular grooming to maintain. She is also an escape artist and will try to escape given the opportunity. Loves water and swimming. She is hovering around 62lbs and eats about 3 Cups of kibble/day. Looking for a home that has a yard or other animals for her to socialize with. Needs a fair amount of activity.

** I am currently being housed at our New York Avenue location. Come meet me at 1201 New York Avenue NE, every day from 12pm-7pm. Or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more. No time to come to the shelter? Meet me virtually during our open hours, note that wait time may vary for virtual meet and greets and we require same day pick up if you decide to adopt: https://waitwhile.com/locations/hra-nyawelcomestatio/r/welcome Hilly was not feeling too silly when he was found as a sad stray. He was covered in his own waste, and he was terribly thin. Clearly, this innocent angel had been suffering but we promised him to help him recover from this stressful situation. Hilly is now gaining weight and he is making friends with all the staff and volunteers. And he is soaking up all the affection. He is just a wonderful dog! He is now more than ready for an active adopter who wants a mover and shaker type pooch to take on fun adventures. He is just a lover boy and so friendly. Hilly would love a home where he is engaged and kept busy. Given his breed, he may be way too interested in small animals so slow intros will be needed. And speaking of his breed, he is a shedding machine so keep that dog hairbrush as well as your vacuum cleaner ready. Ready for an active pup that will bring you joy? Meet Hilly soon!

Story
My name is Milo and I am a MIRACLE.   I was found as a stray back in January of 2024 and I was near death with starvation and abandonment during the frigid temps of January in Tennessee.  I had a wonderful foster mom named Brenda step up to take me in and feed me, and take care of my medical needs.  She and Critter Cavalry Rescue are now teaming up to get me a wonderful forever home.  I am good with other dogs and I am a charming kind of guy that is only about 2 years old and weighing 50 pounds.  I am a purebred boy but truly that doesn’t matter as much as the fact that I am a great dog.  I will require a fenced yard, a Husky savvy adopter and a house with that fenced yard.  I am NOT an apartment dog.  I talk too much and I need a few hours daily to hang out in a yard alone just to satisfy my Husky “Call of the Wild” nature.  I am pretty much housebroken and crate trained.   I am going to be tested with cats but I am good with nice dogs that don’t get in my face.  I will defend myself if there is a rude dog approaching.       I can walk on a leash pretty well and I am totally healthy and a happy boy.  I am told that I am a “heartbreaker” dog….. and I am ready to break some hearts soon!  If you are interested please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 28, 2024, 12:37 pm

Story
Our precious Sophie is a castaway from an owner that has come upon hard times and cannot take care of her.  This sweet girl is obviously underweight from not having the food she needed and now at the shelter she is certainly not getting what she needs either.  Sophie at 4 years of age is needing to be spayed and we are needing a place for her to go after the spay.  She weighs only 28 pounds and we know she should probably be 38-40 lbs in reality.  She is currently in a hard core and small, dirty, shelter in Tennessee and we want her OUT and safe and fostered by someone who cares enough to help her get to her next step forever home.  The photographer that went to the shelter and took these pics, said she was so nice and sweet and very good with other dogs.  She has the look and total feel of a Husky girl that only wants to love you and to be loved right back by her humans.  She was easy going, gentle and friendly for pictures.  We feel that she was probably housebroken since was inside with previous owners.    Take a wonderful chance on a “wonderful” dog.  You won’t regret helping Sophie.    Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 28, 2024, 12:37 pm
