Story
Tri Pod boy! Casper came to us last fall as a 5 month old puppy from a local family who had purchased him as a small puppy. Quickly they realized that there was something wrong with his hind legs but they did not have the funds to bring him to an orthopedic for further testing. He was surrendered to us and immediately brought to our orthopedic who found that he had not only one but two deformed back legs, luxating patellas (grade 4) on each leg. This is a genetic mess up and he was purchased from a backyard breeder so it is not surprising. Within one week Casper had his first surgery to fix the more usable leg. It was a long road to recovery and we were uncertain of his future of walking normally again. After that leg healed he really didn't show signs of overall improvement and it was decided to not move forward with surgery on the other leg, for many reasons. We gave him time, PT and a lot of working on walking before deciding to take the more deformed and painful leg off. About 2 weeks ago he had surgery to amputate the leg that was holding him back, it was a scary choice because we were uncertain how his other leg and ability to walk would adjust to this new concept of being 3 legged but with our chins on the floor Casper was up and walking the most normal he has ever walked in his life. Casper has always loved life, you can find him cuddled up with his buddy Zazoo at any time of the day or playing in the yard but the new light in his eyes has been amazing. He is finally thriving and able to be a "normal" dog. He is finally ready to find the perfect husky loving home and we couldn't be more grateful to be a part of this guy's story.  Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 42.375 Age: 1yrs 4mths 0wks

Story
Hudson was brought in as a stray found at Boulder stadium. He was extremely scared and was adverse to anyone trying to leash him. We have worked very hard to socialize Hudson and he has come a long way. He walks very nicely on a leash now and enjoys being around his humans. Hudson does get along with other dogs but doesn't seek out play. He has met a few female husky and shepherd mixes who he will engage in play for a minute but then seem to lose interest and walk away. He is a very balanced dog around other dogs and even dominant males tend to remain calm around him. He has not done well with cats however. Hudson definitely prefers to be around woman and has been reactive to larger or taller men on meet and greets. We feel a home with no children would be the best environment for him. Hudson is very smart and trainable so a person with Husky/Shepherd experience could give Hudson the home he deserves! Email dogs@hitor.org for more info.

Story
Nanook is a gorgeous and unique boy around 2 years old. He is incredibly social and silly with humans, and his quirky personality is perfectly complimented by his goofy looking floppy ear. He is a typical Husky, in terms of activity and energy, thus would do better with older children than younger children.Nanook can struggle with separation anxiety when he is very attached to his humans, and can be dog reactive on the leash.
