🌸 Meet Arden — From Barely Surviving to Her First Walk 🌸This is Arden, a 9-year-old mama who’s learning that life doesn’t have to hurt.Just weeks ago, she was rescued after giving birth to 8 puppies. She was found in critical condition with infected wounds that required emergency surgery and days of intensive hospital care. Her babies were bottle-fed around the clock while she fought to recover. She’s met other animals in her foster home, including the cat who has appointed himself the official welcome committee for every new foster, along with 3 other dogs. She’s figured out that couches are for sleeping on (not just looking at), and is slowly realizing that gentle hands mean good things. Her healing journey isn’t finished, but she’s already showing us who she really is: resilient, trusting, and ready for more.If you’re looking for a dog who knows what matters and won’t take a single good day for granted — she might be your girl. 💕Apply to meet Arden at ricopetrecovery.org. The adoption fee for Arden is $200. She has been spayed and is up to date on vaccines.

Story
Sassy is currently at county pound but we will pull her if we can find a foster.Sassy and 8 other dogs were taken from abusive owners.  Prior to being seized, Sassy lived indoors and never went outside. We have a volunteer who has gone to the shelter and has taken Sassy for walks and reports that Sassy is a wonderful dog!  She is good on a leash and loves belly rubs.Sassy needs to be on a strong leash at all times.  She gets spooked easily (remember, all of this is new to her) by cars, loud noises, etc.Sassy is approximately 40 pounds.  She has been spayed.  Sassy lived with dozens of cats prior to being seized and taken to the shelter.Apply to foster Sassy and help her learn to trust people and gain confidence at ricopetrecovery.org

Story
Ella and her sibling were initially taken in by Rico following a dog attack. Ella suffered open wounds and her brother had 2 broken legs. While at VCA Sawmill and hanging with her brother, who needed surgery for his broken legs, it was QUICKLY discovered the pups had parvo. (Most parvo pups come to us super skinny, so we are personally grateful for the quick diagnosis....the pups are grateful too.) Ella has recovered from the dog attack and parvo and is thankful to Rico and Dr. Beckett at VCA Sawmill. (Despite dog attack, Ella does not fear other dogs and craves their attention.)Ella may be Husky (blue eyes) and Heeler (moves her foster parents along by nipping at their heels) mix. Ella has a reported DOB of 2/21/26 and currently weighs 10 lbs.  Ella is currently working on her potty skills and refraining from jumping up on her people for attention.Ella will be the happiest with a family that is up to the challenge of an active dog and a tail that is nonstop. You can apply to meet her at ricopetrecovery.org.  Adoption fee is $350.  That includes first two set of vaccines, spay and microchip.

Story
Hi everyone! I’m Azula I may not breathe blue fire like my Airbender namesake, but I do have a special power—my loving blue gaze that will absolutely melt your heart (just ask my foster mom!). I’m a 40 pound, 1-year-old Lab/Husky mix with a playful spirit and a big, affectionate heart. I love being around my people and will happily stick close by for pets, cuddles, and attention. I didn’t get nearly enough attention in the shelter after i was abandoned, so I’m soaking it all up now.  I also get along great with other dogs and enjoy having playmates! Kids? I like them too! I can get a little excited when meeting new friends and might jump up at first, so I’d do best with slightly older kiddos or a family who can help me practice polite greetings. Fetch, tug, and chase are all top-tier games in my book. But if I’m being honest… treats are everything. I love them, which makes me a fast learner! In just the first week in my foster home, I learned Sit, Crate, Shake, and Touch—and I’m excited to keep learning more. I walk nicely on a leash and settle down quietly in my crate—pretty impressive, right? I’m still working on a few things: I’m not a big fan of car rides or baths, but I handle them like a champ when needed.  I like cats a little too much, so a cat-free home would be best for me. Want to see more of me in action? Check out my Instagram @AdoptAzula for videos, updates, and all my latest tricks. If you think I could be your next perfect pet, please apply to adopt me!     Every PAWS dog is loved, vetted, and ready for a fresh start June 1, 2026, 4:05 pm

Story
Princess was born August 18, 2024. She never barks. She’s a sweet dog. She needs to be around children and a yard that has a fence. Her master has cancer and it’s hard for me to take care of both of them so we have to let her go. Her kennel and her bed, cage, dog food, leashes etc., all go with her.
