Story
Thursday arrived at CHA in early March as an 8-week-old puppy. She might be small now, but she has a big personality! While staff and volunteers have been making sure Thursday gets her daily walks, playgroups, and time out of the cage, it is challenging to provide Thursday with the structure and training in a shelter environment that puppies usually receive when they grow up in a home. As a result, she can be very mouthy when she gets over-excited and has broken skin on the arms and hands of volunteers. She is still learning to walk well on leash and sometimes displays ill-manners on walks such as hopping up and nipping at clothing or her leash. Thursday`s behaviors are the most significant when she is initially taken out of her cage in the morning, and when she is leashed to come inside from the play yard. She just wants to keep playing and doesn`t know when it`s time to stop! Thursday absolutely loves other dogs! When she has a dog friend to play with, she rarely displays ill manners towards people. She also does extremely well when she is housed in a cage-free office where she is able to decompress from the busy shelter hallway. In the office, Thursday is much less excitable and is able to interact calmly with her visitors. She enjoys playing tug of war with her soft toys, eating treats, and exploring. Thursday will best thrive in an adoptive home with owners who understand that she requires consistent training. Positive reinforcement training will help her become the best dog that she can be. Thursday is very smart and even enjoys her training sessions! She would do best in a home with no children or in a home with more mature children (such as teenagers) who are old enough to help care for her and teach her new things. We also feel strongly that Thursday needs another dog in the home to learn from and to act as a playful outlet for her energy. Another dog in the home is a requirement at this time. Thursday did previously spend some time in foster care and she was relatively curious about her foster`s cat, but generally gave the cat distance and read the cat`s signals.Due to Thursday’s special needs, staff members are able to introduce her to interested adopters Monday through Friday. If interested in meeting her, please email Adopt@chaanimalshelter.org.Thursday is an energetic, affectionate girl who can`t wait to find her home!

Story
Sassy is currently at county pound but we will pull her if we can find a foster.Sassy and 8 other dogs were taken from abusive owners. Prior to being seized, Sassy lived indoors and never went outside. We have a volunteer who has gone to the shelter and has taken Sassy for walks and reports that Sassy is a wonderful dog! She is good on a leash and loves belly rubs.Sassy needs to be on a strong leash at all times. She gets spooked easily (remember, all of this is new to her) by cars, loud noises, etc.Sassy is approximately 40 pounds. She has been spayed. Sassy lived with dozens of cats prior to being seized and taken to the shelter.Apply to foster Sassy and help her learn to trust people and gain confidence at ricopetrecovery.org

Story
Meet Frosty, the fluffiest white husky with a big personality and an even bigger heart! This talkative lovebug has plenty to say- whether he’s greeting you with an enthusiastic “woo-woo,” rallying the troops for playtime, or sweet-talking his way into extra belly rubs. Don’t let the dramatic howls fool you though- Frosty is all love, all the time. Frosty is a bundle of joy and energy, always ready to play, run, and turn your backyard into his personal football field. He’s already plotting to be the best four-legged quarterback you’ve ever seen- quick on his paws, laser-focused on the ball (or maybe just the treat in your hand), and always up for a game of chase. Whether it's fetch, a long walk, or a goofy wrestling match, Frosty needs a family that can keep up with his fun-loving, high-spirited vibe. While Frosty is a social pup with humans and most other dogs, he’s strictly no cats, thank you very much. He’d do best in a home with other dogs who match his playful energy- or as your one-and-only husky heartthrob. Either way, he’s happiest with people who love an active, outgoing pup and won’t mind his constant chatter (he just has a lot of feelings, okay?). Frosty is fully adoptable and ready to find his forever team-uh I mean, family. If you’re looking for a charismatic, energetic, and loyal companion who doubles as a cuddle buddy and comedian, Frosty might just be the MVP your home is missing.

Story
Meet Jewels! Jewels is a stunning 2 year old female red husky/shepherd mix (best guess) who weighs 45 lbs. Jewels recently arrived from Tennesse and got to go to several pet store events. She has settled in well, even in the short time she has been with us! At her first event, she initially stayed by herself and checked out all the people and other dogs coming by. As the day advanced, she starting taking treats from the kids that visited and enjoyed her day. At her next event, she enjoyed getting groomed by her handler. She was incredibly calm (yes, a husky mix!) and would do well with another dog in the home. She got along great with the other dogs at the event. We think with continued socialization, this gal will be a wonderful family addition. She is a very quick learner. If you think Jewels could be the one for you, apply at www.caninecollective.org.

Story
Meet Koda, a stunning young husky mix who is 36 lbs. His coat is off white, not typical for huskies, so we think he may be mixed with Samoyed, Jindo, or even shepherd. His teeth are sparkling white so we think he is no more than a year old. Koda is just a happy dog. He is very friendly and seems to like the other dogs.He loves to run and play, just a typical fun young dog. If Koda is what you:re looking for, apply at www.caninecollective.org.
